I’m struggling with this one as my feelings about my last apartment are complex. Pretty decent apartment really, ample space, large closets, internal washer/dryer in each unit, central heat/air, and right across the street from both Fremont BART and Kaiser hospital. The architecture was pretty plain though. Sure the buildings are multi-colored(tis seems to be the style) but the design was boring. What I realized though was that this complex was trying to be something in the wrong city. It was trying to be this cool, mixed-use building meant for a walkable neighborhood in the auto-sprawl wastes of Fremont. It’s a caricature of urban form placed in a city currently lacking anything of the sort. And it sits out there by itself and really, despite sitting right up on the sidewalk and having a few shops beneath(Starbucks of course) it doesn’t really work because it’s in the wrong place for that sort of development. Still, I score them 4 stars because there’s nothing to be done about the above and that’s not the building’s fault and otherwise the apartments and management are decent(not perfect but then none of them are) and if you like living in that area then you will like living here.
