My first post was a good reccomendation… the owner responded soon after. thanking me… but it was premature. after bei g told all was well .came to find not true. did not self propel all was not well… have yet to hear from owner relative to my bad, but accurate review… they said they tested my mower. if they had they would have known it did not self propell. What up? Not happy… thank you. And by the way. they said they sharpened the blade… they did not… beware of these people!

I will not take anything else to these guys. I have bought lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, chain saws, blowers and weed wacker’s from them. The owner talks to you like you are a idiot. I was there one day and they way he was talking to a customer was unreal. I felt baqd for that customer. I took my weed wacker in for service that I bought from them a few years ago. I picked it up and I could not get it started. I took it back and left it again, went back a week later to pick it up and they were trying to charge me 40.00 because they said I was flooding it. I have started the same way for 3 years every week and now I am doing it wrong. I complained and he removed the labor charge. Then he got a attitude when he went in the back to pick it up. He said he will not do it again for N/​C I took it home and it started right up just like it used to. Every time I go in there he has a attitude.

I took my lawn mower there for service, 2 weeks later picked up the mower– cleaned the carburetor and sharpened the blade. Today, after second time being used it sounded like a bad rattle sound coming from lawn mower. So I shut it off and took it back in for service. The mechanic was instructed to take a look at it by the owner. Well when he started it the rattle was there but then stopped. So he looks at me like, sounds fine to me-​I asked him to turn it off and start it again… this time when it started the blade flew out the side of the mower. The mechanic took it in the back I assume he tightened it. I’m ready to leave with it and the owner says I owed him $ 10.00 for the pizza fund. Like he was doing me a favor. So I said,“Your kidding right? You mean you’re really going to charge me for this”. Then he throws his hands up when I asked him to look up the original service ticket and says. «Just take it, it’s not worth my efforts. When what he should be saying is. I’m so sorry. Thankfully it didn’t hit my 15 yr old son who mows the lawn. I will NEVER take my business there again and I can only hope if you’re reading this you won’t either.

The saw/​tool side of the business is great for the average homeowner like me. I’ve been there off & on over the last 30 years and never had a bad experience. They do small items without «minimum fees» to jack up the price — like sharpening my chain saw for $ 10. They’re knowledgeable about other good local businesses because they’ve been around so long, and give good advice about who they know to reliable. This is what you expect a solid, local business to be.

My lawnmower was not working and after reading the reviews here I was hesitant to take it to Centerville Tool & Saw. However, after getting the machine in the back of my Prius, this was the closest repair shop to my house.
I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly «old guy» that other Unilocalers spoke about. He was anything but rude. He told me what he believe was wrong with the mower, but he would have the technician check it out and give me a call when it was done. They cleaned out the carburetor and sharpened it for me for $ 70, which I though was reasonable. Apparently it’s not good to use old gas, as I had done.
I got the mower home and it worked perfectly the first time. The second time I used it, it started but died right away (about month later). Unfortunately, I had to haul it back over there. They cleaned it out again, at no additional charge, and it was ready the next day.
I’d give five stars for friendliness and reasonable pricing. I take a star away for having to take it back the second time.

Makes me feel like a kid again, old school friendly service that you can trust. The way it should be! They have repaired a few of my lawn tools with great results. They have parts in stock or can order them quickly.

I bought a Troy bilt trimmer from Lowe’s with extended warranty and a lawn mower. Oh boy! what a bad luck, they both go bad in a same week, took both to Lowe’s with hope to get it fixed, but came back with terrible customer service. Happened to meet professional gardeners on the same day on my way back home and asked them if they can suggest something, they pointed me to Centerville Saw & Tool.
I went there and met this old gentleman and he first explained me what can be the problem and offer a home remedy for my trimmer (other option was to leave it and get it fixed, around $ 60 fix). However the mower was dropped to get fixed at the expense of estimated $ 50-​$ 70.
Well came home did the suggested home remedy and guess what! Trimmer is back in the action!
In the crux, I would say that you can trust these guys with your repairs. Yes, bit expensive (considering the trimmer was less than $ 100), but hey they need to pay the bills too!

I bought a motorcycle off Craigslist and the owner only had 1 set of keys for me. I didn’t think it was a big deal, but after hitting up 2 separated Suzuki dealers, it seemed like my only option was to get it rekeyed, since Suzuki wasn’t shipping out anymore key blanks for my bike (DRZ400SM).
The last dealer suggested I check here because it’s where they go to get their keys made. They did some digging and found that a Kawasaki Polaris key fit my ignition and some European scooter key fit my bar lock. The European key ended up costing $ 10, but Suzuki was going to charge me upwards of $ 30 anyway.
Definitely nice that he had the knowledge and ability to match up/​cut the keys without an official blank. Even better that he had the blanks stocked.

The Best as a long time gardener, they did all kinds of repairs on my blower that another lawnmower shop in Campbell said it was to be thrown away. And I spent $ 85.00 for the repair. Honest, hardworking and help the customer attitude. Great place and they have lots of knowledge.

I don’t know what the other Unilocalers are talking about regarding rude service and unhelpful people. I took gardening tools for sharpening and everyone was super nice, the price was great and the service was speedy. Exactly what I needed.

I have been working with Centerville Saw and Tool since the old owners and Bob the current owner. Over 10 years now. Bob owns the mower/​chainsaw and equipment side and is different from the locksmith side. I have purchased two chain saws, weed eater and other equipment for my winery business. Bob also sharpens chains for me and is super nice. He has even delivered items to my business at no extra charge. This is an old time person to person business and is the place to get quality equipment and service. Today I am taking my splitter in for repair. Who else can take care of that type of equipment, Bob can.

Elder gentleman in service area behind desk sitting on right has bad attitude needs to be not dealing with public giving business a terrible name. On the phone he was rude and in person very lazy. The other employee was conciencious working very hard as line had developed;while attituded person was sitting unbothered by a thing-​slow as molassis.
In years i have had keys made here i would only have them do;Dale and Orchard are not like these. i go here and keys work how there suppose to;NOT THANKS DOAD.

Good results but very poor on service and turnaround time. I’ve used these guys several times and they do a pretty good job, but this time I needed prompt turnaround … 2 weeks or more I was told initially and they would call. It was 3 weeks and I called and found out the repair was done but no one called! When I get there for a simple pick up, I run into no counter service and a 10 – 15 minute wait before I’m served. They can have my business in the winter, when I can afford them to be as inefficient and lacking any customer service as they seem to be!

Bought a Husquarana line trimmer from a famous internet store and found to be defect out of the box. Wanted a quick turn around so decided to go for a fix from a local shop. Called Husquarana and they referred Centerville saw and tool.
However, It took 10 days for them to call back and report the problem. What is even worse is they would not honor the manufacture’s warranty. I double checked both the Husquarana and the internet seller’s customer service and they again confirmed my coverage. Centerville insisted that internet seller is not in the list from the number they called. When asked if they could share that number to have my internet seller clarify through it, the answer was” I could not give you”. I am really disappointed their attitude not to mention not any help offered.
Fortunately, the internet seller has good return policy. They promised a refund and sent me the pre-​paid Fedex mailing slip. I even have the option to schedule a pick up. Centerville on the other hand, charged $ 30.
So if you have a broken tool and thought you are under warranty, confirm with them before dropping your tool. Or simply return the product. It might be easier than dealing with repair from some shops.

Been looking for a lawnmower for a few weeks and have been disappointed with the reviews. I went to Centerville Saw and Tool to look at high quality units. The mowers I was looking at (Husqvarna) seemed smaller than I usually see and the salesmen stated that mowers only go to 21inches these days, except for Toro. I knew this was BS because I’ve been looking into them on the net.
Their Husqvarna mowers used Honda engines and I asked about the fact that Honda engines are well known for carburetor problems. He claimed to have never heard of that.
He was trying to sell me on the rear wheel drive rather than the front wheel drive and claimed the front wheel drive wore out the front wheels while the rear wheel drive does not. My last couple mowers are front wheel drive and I’ve never had any issues with front drive.
the rest of their mowers (honda and Toro) were crazy expensive so we left.
My main issue is with him either being dishonest, or unaware of common well known issues with the equipment he sells…

I was looking around for a place that sharpens push mower blades, and found these guys via Unilocal.They actually send the mowers up to Oakland to be sharpened and adjusted, and then you pick them up the following week. The owner raved about the place that does the sharpening, so I decided to give it a try despite the rather steep $ 50 price. Turns out it was well worth it – my 10 year old push mower has never cut grass better.
UPDATE: Someone contacted me to say that I’d gotten «ripped off», and that I could get new mower blades for $ 12 – 20. However, that’s incorrect. The price for new reel mower blades for this model seem to run between $ 39 and $ 45, which doesn’t include shipping (if applicable), installation (which you could do yourself if you have the time and inclination), or the lube/​adjustment work I received. Having the blades sharpened rather than replaced is also better for the environment. So while I appreciate the feedback, I stand by my review.

UPDATE: I had a cable break on my lawnmower… and I could not find it at lowes, home depot, etc… so I reluctantly went to Centerville Saw and Tool. My last experience was not good, but I needed that cable. As it turns out maybe my last time there was a fluke, as this time I received prompt and courteous service, and they had the part in stock. The guy didnt even really need to look it up… and now my lawnmower is working again.
I guess everyone has a bad day now and again.

If you want to get a key made accurately, this is the place to go. A couple of years back, I lost a big set of keys to 6 tool boxes, two cars, a Yakima Rack, and three houses. A locksmith Centerville Tool made all of the replacement keys that worked perfectly. Prior to this incident, I had already been going to them for quite a few years.
Where my Yakima Racks were concerned, I lost the only set of keys with the bunch mentioned above. This meant that the Q Towers attaching the rack to my car as well as the locking front wheel device for my bikes were useless, and the rack could not be removed from my car.
Two of their locksmiths worked on this job. One of their younger locksmiths had to ask the older more experienced guy for some help. They ended up making me up a new set of keys, and the price was a lot cheaper than I thought it would be.
I got lazy a few months ago and went to Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH) to have a key made. I wasted so much time running back and forth because their machine-​made key did not work.
In the end, I just got a refund from OSH after the third key did not work. I finally went back to Centerville Tools to have my key made. It only took them one try, and they got it right the first time. The locksmiths might not be the friendliest people in the world, but they are knowledgeable in what they do.
Today I went back to Centerville Tool to inquire about purchasing a chainsaw. Bob, who was behind the service counter was very helpful in giving out information on the chainsaws that this store carries. Bob was friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. If I end up purchasing a chainsaw, I will definitely consider buying one from this store because of their customer support.

Have used Cenerville saw and tool a couple of times to repair my lawn mower. First time was a tune-​up, most recently I brought it in to have the pull cord replaced. It took a couple of days and the charge was minimal. The staff there is very friendly!

I own a small plumbing Company and I use Centerville saw and locksmith regularly to service our equipment and also for keys. They are so reasonable that sometimes I am suprised. Their staff is very courteous, helpful and knowledgeable.
