I took a pair of designer jeans and two suits here for them to work on. They did a great job, on my suit especially. They were very thorough in measuring, giving their suggestions as well as understanding what I wanted. I got two suits back in a week and they turned out great! It’s a little pricier than most tailors but if you’re looking for quality, they’re amazing!

Very good place to get your clothes altered. Both very nice people and very helpful. They tailored my Dior and Prada dress shirts and did a wonderful jobS They will tell you what they think is right and will tell you what you should do even if it means a lose of a sale for them. Although they a little bit more then your average tailor I believe you pay for what you get. Quality tailoring and exceptional service!

This place is run by the sweetest couple who really care about their customers and their work. I’ve had countless items altered here and always leave a satisfied customer.
In April, I had a weirdly shaped running singlet tailored. I wish I had taken a Before photo to show how much Sunny altered the singlet to give it a more flattering, feminine shape. The singlet was baggy, boxy and was poorly made, with the bottom seams sort of clinched due to poor craftsmanship. Don’t get me wrong, I love my team, but I looked like I was wearing an awkward white garbage bag. Sunny to the rescue! She took the singlet in on the sides and added slits at the bottom of each side to give the singlet a more finished and flattering look. This was a huge deal (for me) since this was what I was wearing at Boston Marathon. Not only did she do an awesome job, she rushed it for me in 2 days.
Today, I picked up my old bridesmaid gown. I had it tailored last year (from off the rack) to fit for a wedding. This year, I’m having the gown chopped and turned into a cocktail dress. It was tricky to settle on a new length so this took two fittings to figure out. First session, we eyeballed where I thought I might want the dress to be. Sunny sprayed a line around the gown with chalk so she could first cut the gown down so we could have a better idea of what the finished dress would look like. I came back the following week to the chopped gown (bottom not yet finished) and we played around with the length some more, pinning the skirt at various lengths. It took some time, but I never felt rushed. She and her husband were so welcoming through the process, I felt right at home. Today, I picked up the finished product and I’m very happy with it! The length is super cute and nicely finished. I highly recommend this place! From office wear to marathons to weddings, this place has tailored whatever I brought them. Wonderful people, meticulous craftsmanship!

I never leave Unilocal reviews – in fact, this is my very first one! – but Sunny at Essys did such a wonderful job with my dress that I had to leave a review. I bought a dress from Asos for my engagement shoot, but it was loose/​big in the back and the straps also had to be shortened, along with the length. I was a little anxious about the alterations because a lot had to be done and because the seams weren’t very visible to begin with. When I got my dress back just a week later, the dress fit perfectly and looked like I bought it that way! There were no visible seams from the alterations. I was thoroughly impressed and will be going back for future alterations.

Got my wedding done and the dress is perfect. I should let her taken in the dress a bit more because I lost more weight before my wedding. Anyway it was a good experience with Essy’s!

Went in to get a quote for altering my son’s first bday outfit. It was designed and shipped from India and was two sizes big. This was my first time looking for an alteration and was not sure what to expect. Really nice people, they seemed to know their work. The lady explained in detail what her plan was to in terms of opening and adjusting the coat, BUT she quoted $ 98 for the coat alteration! Really? i did not know the market rate, and wanted to shop around, got two other quotes both less than $ 50, for the same job!

I called 15 minutes before they closed to have a rush hem on a prom dress for my daughter and it was done the next day by 1pm. Wow! Excellent tailoring skills and the rush price was more than fair! The couple is very friendly and did an excellent job. Very thoughtful. We now have our favorite tailors in Fremont!

Love this place! We needed some pants hemmed for a party we were going to that night. They went above and beyond service. We came 30 minutes before they closed and they stayed after hours to finish the job because the whole suit needed altering.(That’s what you get when you buy a suit on clearance) We really appreciated the passion they have for their craft and their attention to detail. The suit fit amazing! They really know their stuff! This place will be our regular go to taylor!

Great service! I got my prom dress altered here 4 years ago and since this the only place I trust! I went to take my cousins dress altered here a couple weeks ago and was looking for a perfect fit for her and they delivered like always. Thanks for making these moments even more special!

I had a long jacket altered in San Francisco by an expensive ⁴⁄₅ star review store and my jacket was ruined. Essy’s tailoring pointed out all the problems and led the way. They knew exactly how to make it better, and most importantly when it came time for pick up everything was perfect. Brought my bridesmaid dress in on a Saturday morning and it was ready the next Saturday. They remembered me without having to tell them which dress I was picking up. I got my dress hemmed a few inches and it came out perfect! I couldnt be happier with the way it came out. Pricing isnt bad either for the quality work they producte. Will definitely be coming back with any other alterations I need.

I’ve been here once before for a t-​shirt alteration and it was perfect. No complaints or concerns. I’m just returning home from dropping off two pairs of jeans for a better fitting and John was great with making sure it was exactly how I wanted it. Sunny is great too. They are quick and punctual with delivering on time as well which is very convenient. Will be back.

First timer here and I just got my Bridesmaid dress hemmed and taken in, and it fits like a glove!

Essy’s is by far one of the best tailoring establishments in the Bay Area. I have had a few of my blazers and pants brought in here, and I always leave the sense that everything has been tailored perfectly for me. Highly recommend you get your alterations done here.

This is my second time using the service at Essy’s Alteration. Both time I was very pleased with the result of my alterations. Recently, I brought in a dress that was tailor made for me 12 years ago and obviously does not fit me very well now but Sunny was able to altered the dress to fit me perfectly. Sunny is extremely helpful and always on time in delivering her works.
I definitely will come back to Essy’s again and highly recommend to anyone.

When I go to Essy’s, it would be for alterations, but this time, I had them repair a tear that I did to my nylon purse. The tear was long and it started fraying. I was unsure if anything could be done, but they examined it and they said it was repairable. I was so relieved. When I came to pick it up, I was amazed to see the stitching was so clean and seamless. Unless I was looking for it, I literally couldn’t see the where the tear was. I appreciated their customer service and their helpfulness. They communicated to me with clarity and explained how the repair process would be. I appreciated that. Thanks.

I don’t always buy new clothes, but when I do they never fit. I am … the world’s least proportional man.
Fortunately for me, Essy’s is a ten minute drive from where I work and I can stop by and count on them to alter my clothes to fit me better. I’ve only been a handle of times but each time I’ve walked away with clothes that fit me. They’ve always been timely with me, having my clothes ready when I’ve requested them.

Bad quality work and bad service. They helmed a pair of men’s suit pants for me. I only wore the pants 2 times and the helm came out on one of the legs. They refused to repair because it was two months since they did the work. They did not want to listen or understand that I only wore the pants 2 times.

Great service! My friend had only 1.5 weeks to get her wedding dress altered and Essy was able to get in done in time and did an amazing job!

I got my pants hemmed here and they did a great job. They got it completed the next day just in time for NYE. Good shop to get your alterations done. The only improvement I would recommend is to lower their price to be more competitive. I recommend this place.

I was in Fremont visiting family during the week of Thanksgiving. On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, just 2 days before the holiday, I realized I needed to wear «nice pants» for the family dinner (i.e., not jeans), so bought a pair of khakis, found Essy’s on Unilocal,and rushed over to see if they could shorten and hem my new pants in 24 hours, to have in time for Family Dinner.
They were totally accommodating, sympathizing with my situation. Pants were ready the next evening. Plus they did a perfect job — the final cut matched the initial pinning. And cherry on top: was completely affordable. They didn’t tack on a big «rush» charge, which I admittedly was expecting someone to do.
I found them through Unilocal,so I’m contributing right back and giving Essy’s high marks. Many thanks to them!

I needed a blazer fitted/​altered and a few pairs of pants hemmed/​tapered for an event I had the next day and they were able to do it all on the same day!

Friendly staff and good work. They overcharged me considerably on my wedding alterations but that’s to be expected I suppose. Everything else I’ve had done there was decently priced and good quality work.

They changed management or something. The lady who used to tailor my outfit is not here anymore. Bad Experience Example: I needed pads put IN my dress. She did a half-​ass job and literally put two pieces of thread through the pads that were sticking out of the dress (not even sewn inside the dress material). Horrible HORRIBLE people. And then they told me that they going to charge me $ 50. SMH. The Asian owners said I «can come back and fix free». Yeah right… I cling my teeth every time I’m here (only twice after management change, hoping they’d get it right the second time and I can avoid this review update, but nope, done dadda, no more). Other alteration suggestions in the area highly recommended. Thank you!

These people are so nice and awesome at tailoring. I’m so happy to finally find a place that does good work.

I came here to get a zipper replaced on one of my wind breakers. That means a new zipper. Instead she did some minor sowing that probably only took a couple of minutes, and didn’t replace anything. She could’ve given me some suggestions on how to fix it when I dropped it off. Dammit, I could’ve even done it myself. It was that simple. Not only that, I had to wait until the next day to pick it up. I didn’t even bother dealing with it. That cost me around $ 20. Kind of over priced for what she did if you ask me. I know she is trying to run a business but being honest to a customer can go a long way. For sure I’m not coming back here.

As a male, I have to admit that I’m probably getting most work done on my clothes that I could take nearly anywhere. The reason I bring my business to Essy’s though is because (probably like most men) I don’t have to think about it very much — that’s all the level of security and confidence I need. I am comfortable paying what might sometimes feel like a premium for basic hems because I know they will take care of me in a clutch moment.
My solid story so far that claimed my trust is about a wedding. I had a specific pair of pants that was needed for a wedding, and I had to get a couple sizes larger just to make them work (I’m athletic build and short, so the «skinny» style pants required a MUCH larger size to accommodate my stout legs). Essy’s Tailoring transformed the pants to fit me like the most perfect pair — from the waist to my buns and down to the hem!). Especially compared to my fellow groomsmen, who didn’t get work done on the pants (and got by with cuffs and belts), I looked like a rock star… but no more than the groom, of course!
I look forward to continually bringing her my business from now on. I may not always know the technical terms or what my dress clothes should really fit like, but these girls know what they’re doing to let me fly out the door in confidence. Even though it feels like a woman’s world, let my story show that they will take care of us guys just as well!

I have been a customer of Essy’s for a couple of years. She was great with my clothes, including my maternity clothing alterations. The stitches are meticulous and I can’t tell that they were altered at all. I trust her with my designer jeans as well and she gave me honest and trusty advice on needs to be done, how to make the clothing look better and how to save on the alteration cost.
I went in today and a Korean man greeted me and this gentle nice Korean woman was helping me. I am not sure if they are changing management or not. I took 3 maxi dresses in to be altered. The gentle woman helped me and once they are marked, she gave me a receipt. She was charging me $ 28 each to hem my 2 dresses by 2 inches. She then charge me $ 34 to take my dress in 2 inches from the top as there is a pattern on the bottom. The total was $ 90. All three of my dresses combined doesn’t cost that much and i left with my clothes because I don’t want to pay so much. I was just in there two weeks ago to hem my dresses and the prices were not so high. I was feeling a little sad because I felt like there was no set prices and that I have always loved this trusty tailor.
Sadly, I am now looking for another place to take my clothes to or learn to sew myself. I would rather buy a dress that fits then to pay so much to cut 2 inches off.

I needed a belt shortened and shoulder straps adjusted. Seemed like a pretty straight-​forward alteration job. They did well. I gave 3 stars because they’re pretty pricey ($ 14 to shorten shoulder straps on my maxi dress; $ 12 to shorten belt). In retrospect, I should have just gone to the drugstore to get a sewing kit for my dress and saved the funds.
I’ll look for a different alteration place for my simple changes next time.
The staff is super friendly, however!

She forgot about my wedding dress!
I came here to get a back piece made for my dress. The seamstress was nice & told me that she can get it finished in a week. I pre-​paid $ 55 (a bit pricey), and that was that.
A week later, I bring in my receipt to pick up my dress… and to my dismay, she tells me that she’d forgotten to do my dress. She was apologetic, but that is a bit unbelievable. My dress was supposed to be ready on Thursday, but I ended up having to pick it up later that weekend, which made me postpone and push back everything I was going to do with my dress afterwards. It also made me uneasy wondering if she was going to be rushing to finish my piece since she originally gave herself 7 days to make the piece, and now, had just 2 days to work on it.
When I picked the dress up on Saturday, she didn’t offer any apology. For forgetting to do my dress, I would have expected an apology and at least some sort of discount or refund, ESPECIALLY since I pre-​paid for her services. The back piece looks great, but I really, really hesitate coming back here. Fortunately for me, I didn’t need the dress that weekend… but what if I had? That could have been catastrophic.

Essy’s is a very reliable tailoring place albeit pricey! Compared to other places, this place is definitely higher priced for the same services.
I’ve taken a gown there to be altered and she has done a very good job.
She’s also very good with hemming pants.

I went to Essy’s after she tailored my brother’s suit remarkably well. He found her from Unilocal,so I took his word and Unilocal reviews into consideration before I dropped by for my own alterations.
I had this pair of denim high waisted shorts I ordered online that were way too big for me on the waist. I’m a petite person so it can be difficult for me to find the right fit. I paid a visit to Essy’s and she measured me very quickly with my shorts on. I was confused like, shouldn’t she have written something down or looked at me a little longer just to make sure? But judging by all the awards she has up for Fremont’s Best Businesses (something like that) I had to just trust her. She told me it would take a week and $ 22 to tailor the waist on my shorts. I was a little iffy on the price because I bought these shorts for about $ 30 already, and tailoring them cost almost as much as I bought em for. But again, I just had to trust her.
I came back yesterday and tried on my shorts and WOW! They were tailored perfectly! For someone as small as me it was like a miracle. Especially because I’ve been looking for the perfect high waisted shorts for like 2 – 3 years. Essy was very nice as well. I think paying $ 22 was worth it because thanks to her I finally have the shorts I’ve been dreaming of AND I’ll definitely be wearing them a lot this spring/​summer!
P. S. She does not take debit cards!

This lady is great. Excellent top-​notch work, and a very kind, friendly lady to talk to. What more can I say that others have not said, other than she turned my private elementary school skirt into a slutty Halloween costume and my classy cocktail dress into a way-​above-​the-​knees come-get-me-I’m-hot-thtuff mini dress. She’s also hemmed my work pants and tailored my bridesmaid dress for prices that aren’t ridiculous. She is really worth the money. I trust her and trust no one else.

One star because I have to… She didn’t do anything to my garment and charged me $ 50. Are you kidding me!!! I didn’t have time to try it on before I left for vacation, tried it on when I was leaving to go out (while out of town) and I noticed the chalk marks were still on the inside. THERE WAS NO ALTERATION. I’m livid and furious stuck without an outfit and out $ 50 for NYE. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.

The boy&I have been here twice [both for the boy… although I’ll be coming back next week to get some dresses altered], and both times, Essy was super nice&professional. The boy gets his suit pants/​slacks altered here, and they do a great job! The prices are really reasonable, and she makes your clothes look more expensive than they really were because she does her job so well!
The first time we came here, it was right in the middle of prom-​season, yet she still managed to tailor his pants in two days [extra charge for the rush, but it was worth it]. His family thought his suit was 5x more expensive than it actually was because it fit him so well. The last time we came was just this week. The boy needed two paints tailored, and I needed a button sewn back onto a dress, and she took the dress for free [I mean, she could probably sew that button back on in about 1min… in her sleep], which was really nice of her.
We go to Essy’s for all of our tailoring needs because we know we’ll get really great service here. I can’t recommend Essy’s enough!

I have come here twice now for emergency same-​day alterations (entirely my fault… I’m a huge procrastinator) and both times Essy has been more than gracious and accommodating to my panicked requests. The first time she didn’t even charge me extra ($ 10). The second time she charged me $ 22, but to be fair the dress was a lot more expensive and I understand the recent rise in pricing. The tailoring itself has always been great, although I haven’t asked for anything too complicated.
Essy is also always very sweet and friendly. I’m so grateful for Essy’s – quick, cheap, and quality!
