Number 1 Cleaners & Alterations

Extremely unhappy with their services! Tried to give it a chance, but totally regretting it. The majority of the pressed shirts were all wrinkled, and it was a pricy service. Won’t come back.

The place is our go to place for dry-​cleaning and alterations. The alterations came out perfect in one go. Never missed any timeline that he promises. We always get our clothes on time.

Had a pair of britches hemmed and they came out perfect. Will be back.

This is a new owner. So different from the original. Very nice and reasonable. I just drop off a jacket, some repairs and dry cleaning my shirts! I enjoyed their service. They are nice people coming from LA! I trust them after the last owner did to me!

I have been coming to this place for a while now and I think everyone can benefit from their great quality services. This place is awesome! I’m a business administrator so I can’t really do laundry for my work outfits. This is affordable and have a same day service and they dont charge any extra fees likes most cleaners I used to go to, but once I came here this became my to go to cleaners I highly recommend this place.

I have been coming here for a few months now. every time I came, I was so pleased with their service and quality of their work. I don’t usually use Unilocal but I was so happy with this cleaners that I need to write something to recommend this cleaners to everyone:

First time using a dry cleaner. My husband took in all his dress shirts and Pants. They were all cleaned … No spots … And pressed. Total if 15 shirts and 5 pants all done in one day.
Great customer service, very reasonable price, fast, and great work.
I will definitely be back and I recommend this place to everyone.

No complaints here. Had 6 pairs of pants altered here and they all came out just fine. Doesn’t take too long.. About 3 or 4 days.

I was originally looking for another dry cleaning/​alteration place but I couldn’t find them and I found this spot so I decided to check them out. Very friendly staff but don’t recommend taking your clothes to get dry cleaned here. They charge an arm and a leg. I brought two faux leather jackets and the lady wanted to charge me $ 80 for both!!! that’s more than what I paid for the jackets! lol I did leave two pairs of pants that needed to be hemmed and that came up to $ 35.

Conveniently located in a shopping plaza where you can get everything done and get your clothes dry cleaned and altered if needed in a jiff! This place is a family owned place that is all about value and making sure you get your clothing back when needed. I am a fan and come here frequently for my dry cleaning needs.

Their website has 1.75/shirt for laundry but they charge 2.25. When asked about it, the owner opted not to respond. I felt like I was talking to a wall. There was no explanation whatsoever from them since I had already paid. Expensive and bad service.

I took my dress shirts to get laundered for the first time — all times prior my wife took them in — and mistakenly asked that they do dry cleaning — when all I really had to do was to get them laundered. I paid them $ 50 for this, the realized my mistake, and called and asked them just to launder them instead, which cost about $ 20. They were able to launder them only, but when I went to pick up the clothes, they would not give me a refund of the $ 30 that I overpaid. Instead, they gave me a $ 30 off coupon on my next cleaning. Sneaky bastards put an expiration date that was only about 1 month afterwards. However, I do recall them saying that the expiration date will not matter and that I would be able to get the $ 30 in store credit. I launder my dress shirts maybe every 3 – 4 months. So I took my accumulated shirts back there again today and they refused the $ 30 coupon. What they did in effect was collect $ 50 for $ 20 worth of work and stole my $ 30. I will NEVER come here again and STRONGLY encourage everyone else to do the same. If I could give this place zero stars I would.

After numerous check-​ins, I’d always ask myself why is this cleaners rating so bad? So, I felt compelled to write a review based on my experiences with #1 cleaners.
Over 6 years ago, over 4 years ago, over 3 years ago and I think I saw an over 2 years ago review for #1 cleaners. Damn, It’s too bad that all the reviews are so ancient. I couldn’t understand it because I have been coming here faithfully pretty much as long as I’ve been living/​visiting Fremont and I’ve never had bad service, wrong clothes, up charged or any of that nonsense. Very professional and knowledgeable. Quick, efficient, and courteous are just a few words to describe #1 cleaners.
So if your in the Central Fremont area and your looking for a cleaners then stop by #1 cleaners. Don’t be nervous and skeptical. Ratings are one thing but over 2,3,4,6 years ago??? You never know, that could be older management and the new owners inherited the negative ratings and reviews. Sometimes you might have to dig a little deeper. With all that said, #1 cleaners is a very «sure-​fire quality» cleaner. Friendly staff with fair prices.

They have gone out of their way for me on many occasions with cleaning and alterations! They even restored a 1940’s wedding dress for me that helped me do
some healing after my mother’s passing. They make my life easier and do it with a smile!

IF YOU LOVE YOUR CLOTHES AND WANT TO WEAR THEM AGAIN, DO NOT BRING THEM HERE!
Unfortunately, Unilocal requires me to give at least 1 start but I promise you that this place deserves less than that.
I brought in my WHITE dress that I would be wearing that weekend for a simple hem. We came back the next day to find that the hem was done however there were these black stains all over my WHITE dress. We asked that they clean it since it was not there when we brought it in.
We came back 4 hours later to find that the black small stains on my dress have now turned into big YELLOW pee like stains. Ok at this point, I obviously was about to lose my cool. But what pushed me over the edge was the owner coming out and saying that we had brought it in that way and those stains were already on the dress originally.
I’m holding my yellow stained dress and everywhere that there is a stain, its damp cause they were trying to fix it with some type of cleaning liquid. YET, she still had the audacity to tell me that I was the one who messed up the dress was trying to blame her for it. If my dress was stained when i had brought it in, wouldn’t i have asked for it to be dry cleaned as well and not just hemmed?!
OMG. I was sooo pissed. Then she said ok i will refund you for your hem. WTF does that do for the yellow pee stains you put on my dress!!! Needless to say, I will NEVER come back here.
Ok breathe… My recommendation: I STRONGLY suggest that you NEVER come here and save yourself some time, money and drama and go somewhere else where they are professional.
Even their name «#1 Cleaners» is a joke… they should rename it to «we will mess up your clothes and take your money anyways».

I was relieved to find all of these crappy reviews of this cleaners, It’s not just me that got screwed.
I gave them a brand new shirt (expensive shirt) to be pressed and they ruined it. big stain that they can’t get out. so I gave them another shot and they did it again, they shirts looked dirtier than when I dropped them off.
To add insult to injury, the 3 rude little ladies laughed at me and made fun of the size of the stain I was complaining about?
I had visions of super elbow slams and back breakers, but alas…
it’s off to find a new drycleaner.

This is a horrible place for Dry Cleaning. I figured it was convenient for me because of the location and decided to stop by to get my shirts and suits cleaned. BAD IDEA!!!
First off, I dropped off my stuff on a Thursday and specifically asked if I could get my clothes back on Tuesday. That seemed like sufficient time for them to get my clothes cleaned to me. The lady, who probably barely speaks English, told me that it would be fine. When she give me my receipt, it said my clothes would be ready by Wednesday after 5pm. I asked her why it said that and she ensured me that Tuesday at lunch time would be fine.
I get back on Tuesday, and ask for my clothes what does she do? She points out that my receipt says that my clothes aren’t going to be ready until Wednesday by 5pm. I told her that she said they would be ready by Tuesday. She argued with me a bit and asked me to come back tomorrow. No apologies or anything. I didn’t make a big deal because I really didn’t need my clothes that bad.
So I come back the next day around 5:30−6ish to pick up my clothes. I look at my receipt and it says 14 items. She hands me 13 items and starts to process my credit card that I handed her. I recounted in case I made a mistake and then she tells me there are only 13. She said that she miscounted the day I came in and made the correction on her copy of the receipt. I asked her why she didn’t call me as they did take down my phone number. She just kept repeating that she miscounted after I left the store.
Now I don’t keep track of the exact items I take to the cleaners because I have a lot of shirts for work. How am I supposed to know if they just simply lost one of my shirts? Again, she didn’t apologize for the misunderstanding and didn’t bother to mention it to me until I checked the number of items myself.
Chances are, it was a simple mistake, but I figured she would have the courtesy of letting me know the changes. I don’t expect to have great service from a Dry Cleaners because I understand it must be hard work cleaning other people’s clothes in a small hot store all day, but she could have at least just let me know of the changes. I will never go here again.

Dropped off a suit for drycleaning. Walking out I stopped in my tracks when I looked at my receipt. Drycleaning the suit cost $ 36! Almost the cost of what the entire thing cost me (it was a steal at Old Navy). Of course I went back and asked her why it was so much and she said she’d take $ 4 off.
I thought it was off both pieces. Not. They still wanted to charge me $ 32. I was not having it. I took my suit back. And to think I bring them all my business.
Shame on you #1 Cleaners. Shame, shame, shame.

I tried this place when I first moved to Fremont in 04. In the beginning I had good experiences. My cleaning was always as promised and alterations had been done properly. It was not until last October, I had a terrible experience.
I had a dress that I found at Macy’s for about $ 75, and it needed some alterations and minor fixes… a nice beaded dress for a wedding we were attending. While their initial report of timing was only one week from the time I brought the garment in, I was not able to get there until two days before we were leaving for the out of town wedding. The dress was not even started when I arrived to pick it up. The reason was because it had sequins and beading that would be ruined if they took it in. They claimed that they called me to explain, yet it was my cell phone number I had given. I checked for any local numbers and had not any calls from the 510 that week or the week before.
I just left a few alterations and cleaning there again, hoping that they will get it right and call me if there are any problems.

UGH! Just when I thought I found the perfect place to do my dry cleaning and alterations… they ruin my fantasy by ruining my JEANS! It was clearly stated on the sales slip that I wanted the original hem on the jeans and I even showed the tailor lady how I wanted it to be done… and she cut the originals off and now there is no saving them! Sigh, sigh. It was perfect, 24 hr fitness, Raley’s, the UPS store, Schwab, Walgreen’s, my jeweler, panera bread and cleaners all in one SHOT… no more!
I can’t bring myself to walk in there anymore, even though this is their first foul up, I know, everyone makes mistakes, but they should have offered to pay for the cost of the alteration, instead they left it up to me, the disappointed customer to decide what I should be charged, so I didn’t want to be greedy, so I said 50% and they were ok with that! ugh!

Update 9÷6÷06:
Since my designer jean disaster, I’ve made a few trips back, things I’ve noticed:
They charge more for women’s shirts.
Uses bulky safety pins to fasten silk or other delicate fabrics.
Customer service never truly listens to your requests.
Stains are not taken out properly, I can do it better with Shout.
Currently hunting for a new cleaners and alterations location.
