Pink Swirl Frozen Yogurt

I was right – the NY Style Cheesecake flavor was seasonal and was gone when I went a few weeks ago. That was by far their best flavor and the reason that brought me back.
This time they had green tea, which I was definitely looking forward too. Good thing I sampled it before I filled my cup because it tasted NOTHING like green tea. It tasted like it got mixed with lime sorbet. Unless if they have the NY Style Cheesecake, I’m not coming here again. As of now, Tutti Fruitti is my default frozen yogurt place.

This place is really weird. It’s cold & sexless & without any kind of joy. And it has to be, since it’s a total blasphemy: 99% fat free yogurt. I mean, why would you destroy something as beautiful as yogurt by robbing it of what makes it good?

Maybe I’m a bit biased, but I tend to like Asiany Frozen Yogurt stores better… But anyway, Pink Swirl is definitely designed very cutesy. It has a cute little back room for birthday parties, I believe. It’s clean, and the owner is very nice.
However, I’m not really a fan of their yogurt. Will it do when I have a terrible craving? Yes. If I had another choice, would I come here? Probably not. Their yogurt is too creamy, and well, I’m more of a tart-​yogurt person, and this unfortunately just doesn’t cut it in the tart-​yogurt world.

My kids and I have always enjoyed our trips to Pink Swirl —
we’d each help ourselves to our favorite flavors & toppings then sit at their beautifully themed ‘Alice in Wonderland’ seating area.
We paid a visit to Pink Swirl earlier this week and we were dissapointed to find that they have downsized in space! The ‘Alice in Wonderland’ room had been closed off and is no longer in their posession.
We will still be making occasional visits when one of us have our ‘Fro-​yo’ cravings despite the change. We love their Rasberry flavored frozen yogurt and the service is always pleasant. We also love the old small town feel of the Mission San Jose area. Just wish they had a few more kid friendly shops around there.
Good Luck to Pink Swirl. I hope that the downsizing isn’t a sign of things to come due to the economy.

Immaculately clean and pleasant store offering limited choices. I think there were about six types of yogurt to choose from. I tried the egg nog and vanilla. The vanilla yogurt was my favorite flavor, as it was creamy and sweet. To be fair, though, vanilla is my old standby.
A few cons: 1) I did not like the taste of the egg nog yogurt at all. 2) The yogurt started out watery and liquid-​y. 3) My friend E wanted to top her yogurt with fruit, but most of the fruit was gone. 4) It was freezing inside the shop. I’m talking Omarion-​ice-​box-​cold. Yes, I just made a really awful music reference.
Step into the back room and you’ll feel like Alice in Wonderland. It’s a themed room that can be rented out for children’s birthday parties.

This place is kind of odd. The décor is cheery and pleasant, but the service and yogurt are below average.
I am not a fro-​yo connoisseur, but the signs of subpar fro-​yo are hard to miss — and some of them are quite evident here. Pink Swirl’s fro-​yo lacks consistent consistency: the original tart was too icy (and had a strange «lemony» after taste) and the seasonal pumpkin was too watery. The fruit toppings appeared to be doused with corn syrup to mask its age.
Last but not least, there was air of paternalism around the fro-​yo dispensers. Unlike many fro-​yo joints across the country that allow customers to help themselves unlimited complimentary samples, the Pink Swirl employee stood next to the machines like a sentinel, held onto the sample cups, and insisted on operating the machines for us. I am no fro-​yo glutton, but I feel much more comfortable sampling different flavors when an employee is not watching me and serving me each sample.

Who kicks the only paying customers out of their establishment ON THE HOTTEST DAY OF THE SUMMER???
Already questioned this place because, as it was 103 °F at 5pm when I pulled into the parking lot I noticed that there was only one other car in the lot. Bad sign. It belonged to a mother and her young son who had a couple of Pink Swirl gift cards that they were trying to check the balances of. While the cashier was friendly and polite, he essentially forced them to purchase froyo to check the balance, claiming it was impossible to check otherwise.
When I went up to pay for my froyo (expecting to sit down in the nice air conditioning for a while to enjoy said purchase) the guy informed me that he had to step out for a bit to get change. WHO DOES THAT? I told him half the reason why I even came to the place was for the air conditioning on this hottest of days, and while he did apologize very politely, it doesn’t make up for the fact that you’re kicking paying customers out of your establishment and forcing them to sit out on the patio, where the benches had no shade and the froyo melted quickly.
The froyo itself tasted ehh, very icy and definitely not as flavorful as other shops. Oh yeah, and they charge $ 0.43/ounce, which is OUTRAGEOUS! I spent the past four years traveling across California and I have never paid this much for froyo in my life. I don’t plan on visiting this place again.

Nyeh… The frozen yogurt here melts really quickly. Doesn’t taste the best. A bit expensive. Not very big, but I guess it looks pretty.
Hit Froggies instead (or Yoswirl if you can)!

Not to be a beeeyootch, but expensive and melty and not tasty is not a good combo! especially for froyo, when there’s so many other froyo places to go to! @43c for bad froyo, i thought to myself, why did i come here again? oh cuz i had a coupon, and i wanted to try the place out (it looked so cute and pink, just like me puahaha), but ew, i’m not coming back again.
the only thing going for this place, is that its self serve. oh but then again, they only had like 6 flavors, so meh, i take that back!
i think the fact that its on Mission blvd, across from Ohlone, that they want to charge 43c. but hey i have a nice car and i like to drive it, so i’d rather drive to some place further but yummier and cheaper!
another turn off was, when we walked in, there were no other customers there. The tall chubby (sorry if i’m being mean) server who looked extremely out of place in a cute pink froyo shop, was sitting down watching tv, and when we walked in, he immediately got up and disappeared to the back kitchen area. He didn’t come back for like 5 min, which i thought was retarded. WHY hide when you see customers walk in? I wanted to get sample cups to try the flavors, and since he refused to serve me, i just grabbed a couple I saw near the register.
ALL of the flavors are watery and runny in the beginning (my pet peeve!!) and some also gush out unexpectedly. I made a little mess on myself just trying to get a sample. :(
the pomegranate flavor was NASTY, which was a bummer cuz i usually love that flavor.
Icy tart was not tart enough, and kinda tasted like ice. haha, was that the point? ewww.
Strawberry banana was pretty good compared to the rest, but ive definitely had way better.
Fruit toppings are pretty fresh, the blueberries/​raspberries were yummm. Mango was meh.
Anyway yea the froyo was some of the worst froyo i’ve ever had, so BLECH i’m never coming back

Tried Pink Swirl because of a coupon in the Tri City Voice — buy 1 get 1 half price. Not that good a deal, but better than nothing.
It’s way out of my way to get frozen yogurt. It’s across the street from a gym & near the Mission & Ohlone College.
Flavors I saw: icy tart, vanilla, pomegranate, banana, cookies n cream, chocolate, & blueberry.
It’s self serve. Lady working there offered us sample cups to try the flavors. I tried banana, vanilla, pomegranate, cookies & cream.
Since we went after dinner we only got a small amount each.
Self serve makes you buy too much. I got:
2 squirts — 1 with blueberry & 1 w/​icy tart. Then I got toppings: colored mochi, strawberries (frozen), blueberries. Tasted not as good as other frozen yogurt, still ate it all.
B. got vanilla & banana w/​toppings.
Our total with coupon was $ 4.32. Paid in cash. Got a frequent buyer card. Probably won’t be back.

Tonight was my first time here and I loved it! The girl that was working was so helpful and friendly! She suggested the dulce de leuche, which was amazing! I really like how its a self-​serve type of place because the frozen yougurt place on washington blvd. (by misson pizza) is not which is a bummer. & they are not that expensive, I mean an ice cream place would be more expensive.
oh& did I mention it is so cutely decorated? !

43 cents! Yikes! Even the cashier girl admitted «yea we’re a little pricey»
And they turn the heater up WAY TO HIGH. Melty froyo inevitability.
Cute place though, probably the rent that leads to 43 cent/​ounce froyo.

Friendly service and OKAY froyo:
–Let the machine run for a second, it’s watery in the beginning.
–Pumpkin flavor was festive.
–Icy Tart was OFF in flavor.
–Toppings were pretty fresh, although some of fruit was SLIGHTLY frozen.

7 flavors. I tried the pistachio flavored yogurt-​tasted like bad cough syrup. Luckily I’ve had experience with alot of froyo joints, so I helped myself to sampling the froyo into the sampler cup. The lady was busy ringing up a customer.
Afraid of the other flavored yogurt, I opted for the safe icy tart yogurt. Not bad, though I wish it were a little thicker.
I was about to get really upset if the only topping station was the sprinkles. I asked if they offered any fruit, and lo and behold! The station was just closet shut. Open it up, got some strawberries and mango. It was around 8pm, so I could understand the less than fresh offerings… but they looked less than appetizing.
I guess maybe the weather is just starting to get colder. but this place looked deserted. It was clean, and looks just about any other brightly lit froyo shop…
Overall my experience was somewhat disappointing.

Stopped by here yesterday in the late afternoon and was very pleased with my experience. The boy and I will definitely be returning! I’m surprised to see so many negative reviews (although plenty of positive ones too) on here given that our experience was so good.
I had the icy tart and mango— so yummy! The toppings were great too. The boy had pistachio and mango and really enjoyed his selection. The total for both of ours was less than $ 7.00. Deal! Staff was friendly and everything was very clean. I can’t say I dig the atmosphere too much but who cares about that at a froyo place?

I’m disappointed in the flavors at Pink Swirl and its unfortunate because the management is professional, the location is wonderful, and the inside is beautifully finished, but the flavors just aren’t for me.
I went again a few times this summer and their tart is always hit or miss. I was craving some coffee and tried their cappuccino flavor. which really just turned out tasting like a bad mocha… everything else just doesn’t appeal too much to me.
I’m not so sure if the flavors fault are of the machine or the supplier of the yogurt…

OKAY. I spotted this place on the way to lunch and we decided to walk here afterwards for a dessert. Bad idea bad idea bad idea.
We walk in and it smells like cleaning chemicals. If you’re going to clean while your store is open, at least use products that are unscented. Who wants to eat yogurt when your nostrils are inundated with lemony-​chemical scent?
So we scope around at the flavors (there are about 6 and they are fairly uninteresting), and then ask for sample cups. Even though we are the only people in the entire place, we are kind of ignored. Okay. Moving on.
The sample cup is quite large and this perplexes me, but I soon see why as I try to dispense a sample of the Cookies n Cream flavor. Not only does the yogurt come out at the speed of light, the orifice is also unnaturally large. As Michelle W. lol’ed at me about my fail and attempts to demonstrate how sampling should be done, her sample half lands in her cup and half lands on her hand. LOL.
We decided that the texture/​taste was just not worth the 43 cents per ounce Pink Swirl charges. (SAVE YOUR 13 PENNIES AND GO TO YOGURTLAND.) So we left, never to come back again.
Some positive things are the brightness of the store; I love the natural lighting. Also they apparently have a lot of *good* bacteria infused in their yogurt. However I think this costs 53 cents. They also have cone-​bowls.

The frozen yogurt was good, but not great, though they did have good flavor options. Their toppings were unexciting and their mochi was sub-​par. It was 43 cents per ounce in larger-​than-​necessary cups that encourage you to serve yourself way more than you need.
On the plus side, the girls working there were very nice and the Alice In Wonderland-​themed party room in the back is super cute and festive. There are probably better options in the tri-​city area, but this is a fine place to stop if you’re in the area and craving some frozen yogurt.

Wife and I were on the way home when we decided to stop off at Pink Swirl Frozen Yogurt for a light bite to eat. Located in the little strip mall across from the Mission San Jose (the actual Mission not the High School), Pink Swirl is one of these frozen yogurt places you see popping up everywhere.
When we walked in, have to say the place was nice and clean. They have about 6 different flavors to choose from. Unfortunately when we went one of their machines was out of order, so that left 4 options which was basically Chocolate, Vanilla, and a Fat/​Sugar Free version of Chocolate and Vanilla. So really only 2 choices of flavor.
Decided to go with the full Vanilla and Chocolate version and did a Vanilla and Chocolate swirl. Went to the topping area and again, disappointment. They probably had the smallest amount of toppings to choose from and would say the didn’t have more than 15 choices.
We got our yogurt and asked for a punch card… no punch card. We found a seat and sat down and had our Yogurt. Blah… horrible tasting frozen yogurt. The Chocolate tasted artificial and had a chemical note to it and the vanilla, no vanilla taste to it. It was almost like it frozen milk.
Add to it that this is the most expensive frozen yogurt place at $ 0.40 an ounce, just a very very bad start. The positives that will keep this place in business is the location and that it’s cute. Place is clean and they even have a kids section to hold parties and such.
Probably one of the worst frozen yogurt places I’ve been too and would say drive the extra 5 minutes down Washington Blvd to Yougurtastic. They have more flavors, 3 times as many toppings, their frozen yogurt taste better, and they are also cheaper.
Total does not live up to the hype and would skip. 2 stars and all based upon having a cute and colorful décor.

Self-​serve yogurt place with six flavors – icy tart, creamy tart, mango, chocolate, vanilla, and green tea.
I had the icy tart with blueberries, Fruity Pebbles and mochi balls. Yogurt was really tart, which I liked, with a slightly icy texture, so it lived up to its name. I need to try the creamy tart to see if the difference is just in texture, although the girl that was working there said it was less tart than the icy tart.
My favorite accompaniment for tart yogurt is Fruity Pebbles because it provides a crunchy, sweet contrast.
I picked up some plain green tea yogurt for my wife and she liked it, but the green tea flavor is a little too subtle.
it’s cheap…40 cents an ounce… and since it’s a block away from me, I expect to return a lot.
