Cause of recent several years serious drought, our front yard was looks very bad. We gave up to keep real lawn in our front yard, then we decided to change to synthetic turf.
We were introduced this company, PolyGrass, by the Armstrong Garden center.
The estimator, Robert gave us a quick responses and follow up every time.
The installation process was taken two days. The workers had worked very hard and very careful all two days. And they were clean up everyday after working both two days. It was very cleanly before starting their work. I admired them. I saw they were proud of their job.
We were good choice, which we selected this company!
They did very good jobs. we are so happy.

Recently had PolyGrass install PNR 80, to replace my drought-​withered lawn. Also had them refurbish my putting green, that I self-​installed in 2000. I cannot say enough about their team — great guys to work with and well-​coordinated installation work, between the several people who worked on my project. Well done — excellent work! I loved working with Dennis the owner of Polygrass so much that I used them again to install a new putting green. This company has superb products, the very best Crew who were on time, professional, courteous and did an unreal job. My putting green rolls like a real green and looks awesome. They went way out of their way to make sure my green was install perfectly! We had PolyGrass install synthetic lawn about two weeks ago and couldn’t be happier. Our yard was a big pile of dirt and it now looks fantastic. The neighbors have all been by to talk about it and some even thought we just laid new sod-​it looks really «real». We have two active dogs and so far it’s held up great. Robert was great with communication and planning from start to finish and the crew that installed the lawn was professional, friendly and clean (cleaned up every day), Thanks again, so far so good!

We had a very good interaction with Robert and the installers. From start to finish the entire process was smooth. The fellows who installed the front lawn worked on the hottest day of the year so far, followed by a day of rain and it didn’t slow them down at all. They were very polite, focussed on the job and kept everything very tidy while doing the work. The finished product looks great and we have already recommended them to several neighbors.

About a month ago (Apr/​15), Robert and his crew from Polygrass installed a putting green with fringe in our backyard. Even though it’s only been a short time, my family as well as my son’s friends have already spent many hours playing on the surface. The entire experience, from quoting to completion, was wonderful and smooth and went without a hitch. If you’re thinking of installing synthetic grass, Polygrass should be on top of your list of installers to consider.
First, the quoting process: Robert really took his time in taking the measurements as well as made a detailed drawing of the area to be done. Since we were doing a putting green as well as regular turf, we discussed about the size of the putting green and the trade-​off between putting green surface vs. regular turf. Prior to having Polygrass/​Robert come over, we had an estimator from another company to come over to give us a quote. The estimator spent barely five minutes and didn’t provide any information on the type of turf, installation process, etc. From the start you can just tell Polygrass will handle the job in a professional way. Robert was also quite upfront (and accurate) about the installation schedule so we can plan ahead of time.
Next, the preparation: It took about 5 days to put down steel cloth to prevent critters from coming up, base rock for drainage, and build up the contour in the putting green. The head installer (Javier? I hope I spelled his name correctly) showed up promptly at 7am everyday to examine the site and figure out what needs to be done the rest of the day. Then they’ll bring in the necessary equipment and material for the day. The installers were all courteous. And most importantly, they cleaned up at the end of the day so we never felt like there’s a mess in the back.
Turf installation: Took about two days. First the putting green, then the fringe/​turf. At one time there were a total of 8 people working on the project simultaneously. All the installers were courteous and explained what they were doing or planning to do.
Maintenance: Relatively easy, just need to blow or pick up the leaves.
Now we can sit back and enjoy the putting green and turf, which I believe should last a long time.

Ronnie is great. Very professional, very detailed, very thorough even with the initial quote and design. He always returned our calls, and emails, and set up the initial appointment within 5 days, even though this is their busiest time. I have had work done by another company at a previous rental property, and Ronnie was much more detailed and thorough, which any lawn lover would want. For this job, we had quotes from 4 major providers, and three of the four were all within $ 100 of each other, so I know his pricing is on point. I would highly recommend Ronnie and Polygrass without hesitation to anyone.

UPDATE: 3÷21÷2015
We’ve now had our turf for 5 years and it has been holding up well. I have to admit, we are not too concerned with appearance, so we have not been «fluffing» it with a broom/​rake at all. Here is what we’ve learned about turf:
1. Regular maintenance includes raking off all the compost, i.e. leaves, twigs and fallen fruit from all our trees.
2. Weeds: we are very careful about chemical use because we have small kids, but 2 – 3 times a year, we spray all the edges with a half solution of Round Up. I called Polygrass about the weeds (I was complaining a bit) and Robert suggested a half solution of RoundUp — still chemical, but if used right before rain, it still works). I bought the big bottle from Costco that you can mix up yourself, so I can use half strength. I always wait for a big rain forecast and try to spray 2 – 3 days before that. It’s enough to kill all the weeds and real grass trying to take hold, and the rain washes any remaining residue away.
3. Edge wear: we have not noticed any peeling away of the product from the edges. At the most, there is a lot of stubborn moss that wants to take up residence and push the turf out, but I try to make sure to spray those areas with an extra dose of the aforementioned ½ Round Up mix. We have not had any shrinkage of any kind as well, nothing pulling up from seams or anything of that nature. It is firmly attached, down pat!
4. Other: no noticeable color fading, or uneven wear, no bumps or ruffles. They did a great job with install. I will say that the few corners that don’t get any use, are, of course glossier looking and have maintained a more real appearance.
It is hotter to play on in the summer, but we have a huge willow tree that provides shade so we’re ok with that. We are very happy with our investment and are still looking into eventually replacing our front lawn with Polygrass as well.
For those interested in comparing apples to apples, we consider our turf very heavily used in the warmer months. Between April and October, we almost weekly host backyard playdates with anywhere from 4 to 20+ kids. So it is heavily trampled and we feel that it is taking the abuse rather well. We think it will last another 10 years easy :)

We’ve been debating synthetic lawn installation in our back yard for several years now. We got three estimates from Heavenly Greens, PolyGrass and another smaller local contractor (can’t remember the name). Heavenly Greens does a lot of professional sports arenas and heavy advertising which is very expensive. They were the most expensive by far. PolyGrass and the other company were about $ 800 difference, but we ended up going with PolyGrass because we really liked their people and the gut feeling we got from dealing with them during the estimate process. They also have a lowest price guarantee and their installation team was very professional and courteous.
We love the finished product! It is amazing how beautiful it looks, how much it added to the eye appeal of our backyard and best of all, it turned an unused 1250 sq ft portion of our backyard into a wonderful usable play area for our kids.
About how realistic it looks, we like how it looks and feels. Of course, it is very uniform looking, so you can tell it is fake. But from a distance, we both feel it looks as real as it could look. Just shiny when the sun is out, making it look a little like the blades are wet, when they shouldn’t be. However, no more mowing, fertilizing or watering. It is a great way to save resources! We feel it is completely worth the cost as well as adding to the value of our home. If you are thinking about sod, try PolyGrass instead! It doesn’t hurt to check it out. Definitely not the astro-​turf of the 80’s. They also have a slightly more expensive version that includes little brown «dead» blades thrown in, to add to the realistic look. I believe it is $ 1.50 more per sq ft but don’t quote me on that.
10/​31/​2010: I wanted to update that now that we’ve had rain, we have quite a bit of weed growth on the edges as well as the middle of our synthetic lawn. As I stated, they weight the grass down with ½ inch sand and ¼−½ inch of rubber mulch. So the seeds land in that and start growing. As they get bigger, the roots are actually punching through the grass and most likely damaging it slightly. We are pretty sure that most commercial installations spray heavily with weed killer (like Roundup) to keep it weed free. We have young children and don’t want to spray chemicals all over, esp when the 5 yr old rolls around on it and the 1 yr old is crawling. We are researching alternatives and I am going to call polygrass to see if they have a solution. If they don’t, we will have to resort to hand pulling every spring while the ground is still wet. :p Not as bad as mowing every two weeks, but not good.
We still like our turf despite that. It just would’ve been nice if they could’ve warned us that it was coming!

Dealing with Robert from start to finish has been a smooth experience and the grass looks great. Prior to Polygrass I called heavenly green. They came out and gave me a horrible presentation and unprofessional. Based on that experience I keep looking and I am so glad I found Polygrass. He was easy to reach very nice very and scheduled an estimate soon. Listened to my needs, brought samples, made a recommendation and gave a referral contact and left the estimate. After meeting with him it was an easy decision to decide to hire them to do the work. Watching the crew do the work I saw care and detail. And the final product in my yard looks beautiful. No more bald dirt patches uneven grass tone and mud in the house when it rains. And now with the drought not having to water makes sense.

When considering synthetic grass, most homeowners will be faced with two questions: should I go with synthetic, and who should I contract the work to?
The first question is relatively easy to answer since one can place monetary value on many aspects. For me, an 8 year break even point and investing in my own property instead of someone else’s lawn maintenace company was the more attractive route. Of course, everyone will need to make their own choice here depending on the specifics of their situation.
The second question involves much more research into the various options so hopefully others can benefit from the work I’ve already put in. Some of the main aspects to synthetic grass are specific to the product itself… how it looks, feels, how long it lasts, etc. The look and feel (and durability to some extent) is just about the only things one can evaluate prior to purchasing. The aspects that may be overlooked are related to the installation… subcontracted or not, base rock compaction, landscaping design choices, etc. Keeping all this in mind, I chose to limit my contractor choices to three and looked into Heavenly Greens, PolyGrass, and 1^st Impression.
Heavenly Greens: as a well recognized (and well marketed) company, I contacted them first. The sales rep Tim was very willing to spend time with me to ensure I had all the information needed to make a decision. He was knowledgeable about his products, presented several choices at various price points, and seemed to do what he could to win the business. Their install process seemed well established, and their warranty was the best.
PolyGrass: I stumbled across PolyGrass in commute traffic when I found myself behind one of their branded vehicles. The non-​sales rep Robert was very prompt in his response to my inquiry and displayed a surprising amount of salesmanship (for being a self proclaimed not sales guy) by listening to my questions/​concerns and making sure to address each one. He presented several choices and was very thorough in discussing the installation, more so than anyone else. The warranty however was the weakest.
1^st Impression: I looked into 1^st Impression because of some reasonably positive reviews. Their sales rep Lisa was prompt to respond to my inquiry and presented a single option that was touted as the best looking. After commenting about the feel of the product, she assured me she had others I could take a look at (but that never happened).
For price, all three were pretty similar but I was leaning toward PolyGrass because I liked their product best and felt comfortable working with Robert. Although the PolyGrass warranty was weakest, none of the warranties were particularly strong and I’ve run into too many denied warranty claims due to technicalities, etc. to put much stock into them. 1^st Impression dropped out of the running pretty quick since they did not seem to listen to what I was saying. I explained several times that the look is not so important to me because all the products look good and can be identified as synthetic because they look so perfect. However, I did not like how their product felt like plastic but they (both Lisa and Jason) kept going back to how good their product looks. Beyond that, I had several objections regarding their installation process.
Any contractor worth considering will happily provide a list of installation sites which may be a pain to go visit, but I would highly recommend doing so. Seeing and feeling a sample is quite different from an actual installation site that is used like a normal lawn. This is what cemented the decision for me as it highlighted why I liked the PolyGrass product best.
The PolyGrass team were able to get the project started within a few days and were very good about soliciting my opinion on how I wanted things done. They also brought their own ideas which was very helpful, especially for raising the grade at the rear of my yard. I have continued communicating with Robert, even after everything has been completed and he is very prompt to respond and offer assistance which gives me confidence in the company standing behind their work (warranty or not). I’m just glad I happened to come across the PolyGrass vehicle in traffic, otherwise I may not have even considered them. Assuming the product will hold up for many years like it should, I’m extremely pleased with how this turned out. Keep up the great work Rob!

I’ve been meaning to write this review for awhile. Love my poly grass and my poly grass experience. No complaints. Quick and professional. And the product is excellent quality.

Pre Installation: I called a handful of companies to get quotes on a fake lawn for my front. Some called me back, others didn’t. Robert called me back that same day — none of the others did. When I got quotes from the companies, Polygrass was the least expensive. Within a few days, Robert came out and showed me examples of my three grass options and explained the entire process and answered all my questions. He was very thorough and helpful. I didn’t even have to ask for a list of examples of work that they had done and he sent it to me so that I could drive around and see their work and the list also included which of the three grass options the customer used so that I could match my want for what was being shown. My only negative was that some of the locations were for the backyards and I didn’t feel comfortable knocking on doors to see the backyards. But, there were front yards done so I was able to see examples.
Installation: The installation team was absolutely fantastic. They didn’t show up on time — they showed up early and automatically got to work. In less than two days they had my entire lawn completed despite me constantly going to the front to check their work, take pictures and ask what part of the process they were working on. They were super friendly and patient with all my inquiries. I can’t recommend the installation team more! They were fantastic.
Post installation: Less than a week after the installation Robert left me a voicemail to ask what I thought of the process and how I was feeling about the installation. Now, four months later he reached out again to see if I was happy with the results. Pretty cool!
So far so good. I love my lawn, my neighbors love my lawn and it looks fantastic. Four months in and I have absolutely no regrets. It’s well worth the money.

I was looking at multiple companies to perform my synthetic turf installation for my backyard. I called a total of 8 companies. A lot of them were all in the same price range. From there it was all about customer service, as well as being able to provide a quality product. I really like the turf that Polygrass recommends.
I originally had gone with another company whom delayed the project over and over.
I then called Polygrass.
The service was great. Robert called me back after I left a message with the call center. He was even able to come to quote me the same day. He clearly answered all questions I had, as well as taking the time to find out exactly what I wanted.
I told him that if I didnt hear from the originally company, he would be the first person I called.
This company followed through, great questions, very reasonable pricing.

Great work by the crew who performed the installation! Rob who conducted the initial quote and sale delivered on exactly what he stated and worked with me with good follow up on getting me the product that I wanted. I would recommend these guys on any similar sized project for sure.

We had an area in our backyard that was small but large enough for a small putting green. We received estimates for a putting green from Pavers, Millers and then called Poly Grass. The comparison in pricing was significantly lower, however one thing that Dennis their sales person provided was encased samples of their synthetic Lawn which gives you a better idea of the quality. When I asked him about putting greens he assured me that he has an employee who specializes in putting greens. Well he was correct they had a Forman and two helpers who arrived and ready to work. They dug out all the debris and prepared area for installation of our putting green. You could see how the Forman would look at areas get down on his knees and work with his guys truly team work and they worked hard. End result was a great two hole putting green, now if I can just get my handicap lower with the improvement of my short game.

Poly Grass in Fremont did a great job in taking care of a putting green that they installed for me 4 years ago. I had a issue with expansion and contraction and they were out in two days, looked it over and came up with a plan. Two days later (Saturday) they were out with a crew and took care of the problem. We are Poly Grass customers and while we enjoy the low-​maintenance, always-​green front yard, I’m not sure it’s worth the investment (and it’s not inexpensive).
Our «lawn» is only a few years old but not too long after it was installed we had weeds coming through in a few spots, and in another couple of spots, noticeable lumps have formed — weeds or something else — who knows.
It also quickly developed patterns from repeated walking in the same areas — something that can be improved with a push broom, but disappointing to see it look so worn so fast.
Last week we had plumbing work done and needed to roll up a small portion of one edge of the lawn to get to the main water line. The folks at Poly Grass said it was fine for the plumbers to roll this up, then they’d come out and put it all back.
I contemplated putting it all back myself and now I wish I had. I called our sales rep, I think that’s his role, and he seemed somewhat bothered to even take the call to schedule the work. He quoted the labor charge ($ 85) and generally how long it takes to do such a repair — 4 hours. I’d have guessed 2, but fine — 4 is a ballpark estimate — I can live with that. He said to call him when we were ready to have the work done to schedule it.
I called him and he said he would call me back. He never did. I called him again & left a voicemail. Later on I got a call from someone else to tell me that a guy would be out the next morning between 8 & 9am.
Their worker guy arrived just after 8am and politely handed me the agreement to sign to authorize the work. It listed only «repair» as the type of work to be done and the labor charge, and that the start time was 7am til whenever, at $ 85/​hour. I said, «7am? So I’m paying for your travel time?»
He didn’t speak English that well and was a bit confused, so I said I would call the schedule guy to discuss. I called Schedule Guy at 10am when Worker Guy had been gone for about 30 minutes to go get supplies — something I found curious seeing as how they should know what materials they usually need to do these jobs.
Worker Guy returned at 10:30 and went right back to work. Schedule Guy never called me back. At 1pm I’m thinking, «Wow, this is getting awfully expensive» as Worker Guy was still out there working, though appearing to finish up. I went out to see what’s what and he said he wanted another hour to finish up. (He had no idea what time it was — not good, for an hourly agreement.)
I came back inside and called Schedule Guy, again. This time he answered and we had a not-​so-​pleasant exchange about all the time/​cost I was not told I’d be covering, like his travel time and time to go to the store. And at five hours already, I’m supposed to cover one more?
To be fair, I was anxious, but even-​keeled, trying to get clarification on how they’re billing this job. I explained my concern with paying for travel time that I wasn’t aware of and he was annoyed with me for even asking about it. Then he was annoyed that I would question Worker Guy’s hour to go to the store.
My issue with Schedule Guy was that these additional charges were never mentioned. As a freelancer myself, I can’t quote a price to a client then bill them for other things I never told them about — that’s not how you run a fair business.
If they’d told me, «He’ll get to you by 8am, but we also charge for travel time,» how could I dispute that? Or, «He has to get there, inspect the situation, then he may need to get supplies if your situation is unique» (which it wasn’t.)
He laughed in frustration several times, the unprofessional jerk he is, and finally said to pay whatever I thought was fair — he just wanted to get off the phone. It was clear that he wasn’t interested in working with me on the level about the fact that they should have made all possible charges clear at the outset.
When I told him Sales Guy said I’d be paying only for labor, he actually said «It takes labor to drive a truck.» Wow. What an idiot. It took a lot of labor to endure that phone call — I’d love to invoice him for it.
I wrote the check for five hours then went outside to see the bill for the materials Worker Guy bought. I told him his boss, Schedule Guy, could cover that.
Going forward, if we need work done on that lawn, I’m finding someone else to do it or I’m doing it myself. Feels like I just got scammed. They weren’t happy to have some business — they wanted to bilk me for all they could. Total jerks.
And as nice and professional as Worker Guy is, he works slower than a grandma with an oxygen tank. I really like him, but he definitely seemed to take his time.
If you have them do any work for you, get a FIXED bid — no hourly or time & materials.
They *will* take advantage of you.
