Rich’s Smog & Repair

My wife had set up an appointment for Tue morning with Billy during business hours, when I reached nobody was there and business was closed!

On Unilocal and says smog check station but they don’t actually do any smart check anymore since a year and a half ago make sure you call before you come no smog check here other than that they do pretty good service but I give it a 1 because I’m wasting my time

Great place to install tires, smog, and oil change. Quick, easy, accurate, and best services. Help with other things, fixing dents and very fair prices.

Their service is very very bad and the owner is very very rude. We had to made several extra trips to their garage for a small problem and over a period of two months since the owner is not available all the time. Then my car did not get fixed at the end. I would not recommend to anyone of their services.

Horrible customer service over the phone but the guy who did my headlight restoration was awesome and did a great job! Plus it came with a lifetime warranty, huge plus.

I recently purchased a groupon for a full detail with these guys…
So I call them and say «Hi, I’d like to schedule an appointment for a detail.»
Them: «Oh, uh, just a second.»
Next guy: «Hello?»
Me: «Yeah. I’d like to schedule an appointment for a detail.»
Them: «Uhhhhhh our guy who schedules the details is out right now. Call back in like an hour.»
Me: «Uh ok.»
Them: *hang up*
All in all, I will not be going there. Very unprofessional on the phone and borderline rude. They should have been more friendly and offered to take down my info, then the guy could have called me back when he got in. I’ve had much better experience at a better detailing place in San Leandro. I will just go back there, even though it’s farther.
Don’t go here. Based on mine and other reviews, stay far far away.

Excellent customer service. See «Donald». Very knowledgable & honest. I trust this shop for all my vehicle repairs. Their work is effecient and done in a timely manner.

First off, Don is amazing!!! And I don’t say that because I know him, I say that as a person who called this morning for an EGR Flow malfunction and picked my car up at 6 with a complete car check and the problem resolved. Plus, the house to house service they offer (if they’re not too busy) shows their commitment to customer service. Throughout the entire process Don was upfront about the procedure and didn’t shy away from questions. All in all I just want to say great job and much appreciated!

My honey bought me a groupon to get my car cleaned here– and boyyy was it bad when I brought it in. I couldn’t believe my eyes upon seeing my fresh and so clean car! Monroe really hooked it up– he made my headlights beam so bright I couldn’t believe that it was really my car (I honestly didn’t think my car could have headlights that bright). Though my paint has some oxidation, and the clear coat is chipping away– Monroe really went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with the results. Not only did he hook me up with an awesome wash and vacuum, he actually removed the coffee stains from the interior of my car, and made my rugs look brand new. I definitely recommend anyone coming here for a car wash. The waiting room is pretty cozy too– I kicked off my shoes and watched the news while I waited, and the guys who were walking were super friendly and welcoming. Thank you thank you!

So today started out bad, I was late for an appointment so I driving like a nascar but all of a sudden my car began to shake (in my mind was like oh hell no, not now!) while on the freeway! I hurried and pulled over called my road side assistance and they recommended me here. I of course Unilocal’d the place to see if it was « Unilocal approved» …4 stars, perfect.
So when I got here it was only 9:55 and they don’t open til 10. I called the number and the guy that picked up .(Donald very awesome dude!) said he’ll open up and help me out now. Most places would probable make me wait that 5 mins. Anyhow this guy is super friendly, and helpful. Hooked me up and said he can check everything and get it fix for me the same day. I’ll make sure if I ever have any problems with my car ever again this will be the place I’ll go, Donald delivered on his promise price was good and even exceeded my expectation since I had no ride to pick it up the car and he would hold it for me free of charge.
Hey owner if you’re reading this you should give him a raise! Just got a new loyal customer and will be referring everyone I know here 5 Stars well deserved!

I guess with this one. They got the foot in the mouth! I got a groupon and called to get an appointment. First of all they said they are booked till November end, and then they were chatting among themselves for 20 minutes, with me on the hold listening to their conversation. Best part someone was getting bashed up around giving more to a Groupon customer than what he should have! Exact words — «if they get something extra done like an oil change or something then…» I decided to hang-​up and not use my Groupon! I hope I get the refund from Groupon, but will not be going here again, especially not wait till November end to get a silly car wash done! :) Best of luck team, and please don’t do Groupon deals if you cannot handle the volume. My suggestion — get temps when you throw a Groupon deal. In this world of Customer Satisfaction Rules — you cannot afford to give an appointment 2 months out!

Got my car detailed here and they did a pretty good job. There were some scratches on my car that I didn’t notice, but Rich did and pointed them out when he was doing a walk-​around of my car. He gave me a very good price to remove them and of course I took it. Overall I was very happy with the quality of work and Rich’s attention to detail.
But, what I’m not happy about is the general operations of the place. They are as follow:
1. Besides Rich, the other workers do not seem on top of it. The guy who booked my appointment double booked me with another person
2. Their business hours say they are open Saturday, they are not… please fix that. I drove 20 mins here on a Saturday to find out they were close, I called the following week to make an appointment for another Saturday, only to find out they don’t work Saturdays
3. I was recently in an auto accident and wanted to get my body repair done here because I was impress with the quality of work from my previous visit, so I called Rich and he said no problem, they do body repair, only that I call 30 mins before I come over to get a repair estimate. So I decided to leave work early at 3:30pm, which is also the same time I called them to let them know I will be stopping by. To my disappointment, the guy who answered the phone says that guy who does estimates had already left for the day. When I looked at their businesses hours, it said they closed at 6pm. I seriously think they should change what they list as their business hours!
Needless to say I made an appointment with another place.

I bought the «Complete Interior and Exterior Auto Detail and Headlight Restoration with Lifetime Warranty» Groupon for $ 69. I arrived 30 minutes before my appointment (and before they opened) and Monroe started on my car early. Another customer arrived at the same time. He worked around the corner from Rich’s and they offered him a ride to work.
Since I was waiting for my car, I was able to work remotely from their waiting room– even though I used my own broadband card, they offer free wifi. Unfortunately, someone didn’t empty the waiting room trash can from the night before, so I was swarmed with gnats for 2 hours.
All-​in-​all, after a 2 hour wait, my car’s headlights look great. With the lifetime warranty, I’ll be coming back if they start getting hazy again.

Bought the Groupon for the, «Complete Interior and Exterior Auto Detail and Headlight Restoration with Lifetime Warranty» for a pretty decent price. But even just for $ 69 I don’t think it was worth it.
My car is certainly old, it’s an old ’94 BMW so it’s got some scratches, chips, dents that I fully wouldn’t expect to be repaired or even hidden. My gripe is with the fact that they couldn’t even get the spokes of my rims clean. I know that there are many many little crevices in my rims, which means you have to hand clean it, so then take the time to hand clean it damnit. When I picked up my car and asked why they weren’t clean, he said it’s because it was from the brakes and it wouldn’t come off. Stupid me didn’t check it and took his word. When I looked at it again the next day before I dropped my car off to be sold, I decided to try to wipe off a section with my finger and found that it came right off!
Also found that the AC/​Heating vents inside the car were still dusty, they didn’t take the time to wipe down the dust. They certainly put enough armor all on everything to make it look shiny and clean on the inside, but didn’t take the time to really DETAIL the car. This was only slightly better than a $ 25 car wash place you find on the street. I am paying for a detailing that’s supposed to be worth $ 150+, so I expect high quality.
Overall the exterior wash was good, tire dressing was good, interior was vacuumed nicely and armor all’d all over the place. The glass shielding my odometer panel was cleaned too. I’d give them a chance to rectify their mistakes, but I don’t have time since I had to drop my car off for sale at a for sale by owner place.

I took my VW Wagon to Rich’s Smog & Repair a couple of weeks back for detailing and was super impressed with and grateful for the work done! The staff went above and beyond in regards to cleaning out the gunk in my wheels and car’s leather interior, and taught me a lot about my car and how to most effectively maintain it in the process!
While I waited I got to sink down into the comfortable couch and do all sorts of work of my own with the available Wifi. I’ve gotten lots of complements on how good my car looks and the restored headlights are brighter then ever!

First time I went to Rich’s Smog was for a water pump replacement and they did a great job in a very timely manner and the pricing was very fair. I found Billy to be very easy to work with that I recommended them to my boss who then brought his car in for repair was well. I’ve used them again for a CV boot replacement and it continues to be a great experience. I plan to continue bringing my car to Rich’s Smog and I highly recommend them.

Great service, the owner paid attention to my expectations and went above an beyond what i expected in their detail service. They have custom lighting so that the meticulousness of detailing is done perfectly! I highly recommend them!

Got my Porsche Boxster serviced at Rich’s Repair shop for the very first time and had a great service experience. I also had my tires changed, and «Billy» the manager offered me rates that was even lower to pep boys to get it done!
I was very happy with the service and hope you will as well.

I had recently gotten my brake pads and rotors replaced here last week and Rich did an exceptional job with them that he replaced them so quick; he was finished by the afternoon. It was too late to pick it up from him so since the shop’s closed during the weekends, I left the car there. Carmen, his admin girl called and said that they’ll put my car inside the shop for safe keeping and never leave any cars outside. It was nice to hear that.
I definitely trust Rich and will come back if I need to.

Wish I could give more than 5 stars. Excellent, quick, quality service and VWs are not the easiest cars to work on :) Everyone was very friendly. You could really tell that Rich and his staff care about the customer. They even took my wheels to be rebalanced at another shop while my car was being worked on. The cherry on top was the more than reasonable price.
