Terra State Community College is a two-​year accredited, state-​supported, commuter college located in Fremont, Ohio. Terra State has a long history of service to the community and providing students with an education that is both accessible and affordable. Terra State offers options for those who desire to take one course or earn a full curriculum leading to an associate degree in applied business, applied science, arts, individualized study, science or technical studies. Students who wish to continue their education may transfer credits to a four-​year college or universities.

History

Established in 1968.

Terra State Community College’s roots go back to September 1968, when the Vanguard Technical Institute opened to 78 full-​time engineering and business students. The institute was a night school, using the facilities of Vanguard Vocational Center.

Today, Terra State Community College sits on a 103-​acre site, offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs and is a source of information and support to the entire community.

Ah, Terra State. My home for my final two years of high school. The many fond memories… the many painful ones… the people… the professors… What an experience.
I completed 65 credit hours here while in my last two years of high school. All of the credits transferred to the University of Toledo; although, my program (pharmacy) did not accept all of them. Oh well. It was great to gain college experience while in high school and interact at a college-​level with others instead of dealing with high school drama. I’m really glad I had this chance and recommend it to any who also find themselves in a similar situation.
The buildings are a bit antiquated, but they serve their purpose. The faculty are very knowledgable, most having their Ph.D.‘s. The campus has really come a long way since I started. The outreach within the community is present as well as a nice music program headed up by some talented musicians. I played in the Brass Choir while I was there and had the chance to perform at many venues in Northwest Ohio.
I recommend this to anyone in high school looking for college credit, anyone who recently graduated looking to save money, or anyone beyond the intial days of education who are just looking to come back to school again.
