Better late than never?!? This was my first UYE and I’m glad it was. Thank you to Deep S. for putting together this event. It was fun and a great introduction to all things Unilocal! After a quick refresher from the staff, they gave us a harness and off we went! There were plenty of lines and walls for everyone(event participants and others) to be able to climb without getting crowded; some of us got competitive so a line formed for one of the more difficult walls as well as an easier one for a «climb-off» to see who made the best time. This was my first time using an automated belay and it took a while to be able to trust that it would catch me! By the end of the afternoon, however, I had made it to the top(so high!) and was loving it. It was a good and enjoyable workout! Who needs the gym when you can rock climb?!? It was nice to meet everyone! Hope to see you all at future events!

I had no PRAB-lems with this event. Get it Deep? haha Great event from the man the myth the legend that is DEEP. My first time climbing at city beyotch! I loved Loved climbing to the event. Deep did a great job hosting and making sure everyone was taken care of. I got to city beach, wham bam thank you mam, 1 minute man later and I’m climbing! Great Sunday funday for the Unilocalers! Got a great full body workout climbing at city beach. Great place to climb and it wasn’t to crowded so you can get up on most walls anytime. Looking forward to the new event Deep!

Oh what fun it is to climb with the auto/self belay! Thanks, Deep S. for setting up this awesome event :) Beginner and advanced climbers were all welcome at City Beach. The auto belay definitely took some getting used to… I had trouble trusting that rope! Like Sebastian, I’m afraid of heights but with a great group cheering you on, we were able to quickly overcome it yesterday. The staff at City Beach gave us instructions and checked on us quite often to see if we were okay. You can get certified to use the regular ropes but we all left that to the pro, Mikey! I never really thought about how much of a workout rock climbing actually was. My arms are sore today! I guess it’s because I kept opting to pull myself up instead of using my legs lol. It was a fun way to spend time with the cool kids :) let’s do it again?!

Yeesh, I never realized what type of workout rock climbing would be til SlumDogDeep’s UYE today. Talk about, sweatin’ it up for real! Great UYE! So much fun to get Unilocalers together in a safe, fun environment where our competitive natures are able to come out and combat. Even if just rock climbing, of course we all tried to see who would get up a wall the fastest… DeepS., the host with the most, did win this one. Almost. Lol. Maybe next time… You’re still a winner in my book playa! Gear was adequate. Climbing was fun and spread out even if you weren’t a certified belay’er you were able to climb on different walls. We even had some Unilocal schwag to take home. Fancyyyyyy! We were able to climb with a playa price, dined after in their restaurant. Excellent way to end the weekend! Well done, DeepS. Ahem…next UYE is on the map playas! Look out for it. Like end of this month. Event details will be posted soon, for sure!

I skipped the gym today but felt like I ended up working out twice as hard! I can barely lift my arms now… guess Deep S. gets to do the dishes tonight! The staff was friendly and gave us newbies a quick free lesson. This is just a good way to have fun and get your work out on. It was great seeing all the Southbay Unilocalers today. Can’t wait for the next Unilocal event!

Great craic, as the Irish would say! Thanks to Über-Yelper Deep S. and the super friendly staff at City Beach the South Bay folks enjoyed a great afternoon of getting sweaty together. Like Adilia S. below, I also skipped gym on this HOT Sunday for some serious full-body workout and I’m glad I did. If you have never climbed a wall(or spidered) before, be prepared you’ll need all your strength to get you up there. Some experienced Unilocalers spidered a wall in 16 – 31 secs — me, not so much. Good training though to overcome any fear of heights. Good to see everyone and looking forward to the next Unilocal events!

Super fun event hosted by the #1 Southbay Slumdog himself, Deep S. Props on a creative, physical activity for Unilocalers to enjoy together. Unilocalers donned their harnesses and set out on the ropes. Skill levels varied from beginner to veteran, but everyone had a good time getting a killer workout on their arms. Some of the more experienced Unilocalers were as nimble as spider monkeys! Sadly I couldn’t join in climbing due to tendinitis in both arms, but I still had a good time. Activities I COULD participate in included cheering people on, watching a timed competition, and staring at the backsides of fiiine Unilocalers. There were some wonderful views that must remain only to your imagination. After everyone was done getting hot and sweaty(myself included, as it was a really nice day with temperatures in the 80’s!), we headed over to the restaurant/bar for some refreshments. Everyone had worked up quite an appetite as well as extreme thirst after all the excitement. The food and service at the restaurant were okay, but all that mattered was the outstanding company. Thank you to Deep S. for inviting us out to come climb with you and for offering to attach me to someone’s harness so I could see the view from the top. You’re so considerate. Awesome event! TIP: Don’t get into a competition with the Slumdog. He is relentless, winning the record title of climbing the wall in 15 seconds! It only took about 4 attempts. Any other person would have given up after 1 or 2 tries, but this guy is persistent. Winning!
