Closed! It’s now a Chinese restaurant called Shanghai Tapas. Will try it soon.

Came here based on Unilocalers’ reviews and the fact that I was craving some good Vietnamese. Banh mi here ranges from about $ 3.00 to $ 3.50. I highly recommend the pork one! So good. I didn’t try the phở, but did sample two kinds of vermicelli dishes: egg rolls & grilled pork. The egg rolls here are to die for. I didn’t ask, but it seems they are made on the premises. Widest eggrolls I’ve ever encountered. I had the five spice chicken sandwich. I couldn’t really taste the five spice part though. My husband hiccups when he meets an unexpected chili. Hence I knew there were chilis inside. Daughter had the three bean drink — didn’t have any squishy red things in them, but had the green jelly, yellow and brown beans. I decided to be adventurous and try a drink with mini tapioca pearls, yellow sweet beans and(huh?) seaweed. It was surprisingly good and the seaweed part did not taste remotely seaweedy. Probably the healthiest dessert you can eat. Doesn’t taste like a chocolate shake though. Like this place! It’s close to the family home too!

I keep coming back to this place to give it MANY second chances and I just can’t seem to love it. Maybe because I am Vietnamese(and Filipino), instead of Chinese-Vietnamese like the people who run this place. In the past, I’ve tried their phở, garlic noodles, and bo kho(beef stew). They were very basic, not too flavorable. For a non-Vietnamese tongue palate, they probably would have enjoyed it. Today, I finally tried to sandwich and the two ladies didn’t understand me when I said«banh mi ga(chicken sandwich).» It was 1ish, which is still lunch time, but they didn’t have any rolls in the toaster, so I had to wait for it to toast! GRRRR. Their sandwich uses American mayonaise(defintely not the usual yellow Vietnamese one made of egg yolk and oil) and the pickled veggies were just carrots… and a crapload of them too. The only positive about the sandwich was it has A LOT of chicken and the chicken and juicy.

Came here last night for dinner. I met up with Luis and Anna. Its a small new restaurant. They have not put up there new signage yet. It is a little hard to find in the plaza with alot of little other shops. I end up ordering the Chicken Phở. I didn’t expect to much but overall the phở was okay. I had better at other phở places. The eggrolls was good, fried perfectly and de-lish. I wish I tried Luis’s dish and Anna’s but trying to be a good girl here. I would like to come back and try the other dishes they had but not the phở again. The sammies look good here too. Overall the food was okay but company you can’t beat.

I hadn’t had phở for awhile and was excited to try Vietnamese Delights. We were greeted in Chinese(maybe they’re Vietnamese Chinese?). It’s a large space with an empty feel, simple décor, and a shrine. I had the small phở tai w/beef balls($ 5.50, a large is $ 5.95). It came with a plate of jalapenos, cilantro, basil, fresh bean sprouts and a wedge of lime. The broth wasn’t bland but it wasn’t beefy enough. I like how the meat was very thin and pink but it tasted like it wasn’t so fresh(defrosted beef). The beef quickly became tough. The rice noodles were too soft. The bowl was huge but it felt like they were skimping on the meat. I’ve had phở at a couple of places in Fremont and Union City, and this was the worst one. I could tell that my father didn’t enjoy his five spice chicken banh mi just from the expression on his face. They have rice plates, banh mi, phở, beef stew, and garlic noodles. Drinks and che are in the fridge. They’re still offering the buy 5 sandwiches, get 1 free deal.

Horrible. The phở was tasteless and the egg rolls were average at best. The vietnamese coffee was also horrible. Very bitter. Overall, while i wanted to like this place based on the previous reviews here, i just couldn’t bring myself to. With lots of Vietnamese places to choose from in the area, i do not see myself coming back to give this restaurant a second chance.

Super nice service and the food was tasty with pretty large portions. I couldn’t finish the BBQ pork with vermicelli(only $ 6.5). The egg rolls are really good. Also took home pâté sandwich… I’m not a expert in the sandwiches, but it was tasty with soft bread. Didn’t crack any fillings on that one. I know that this is only a 2 month old place, but I really appreciated the fact that the tables weren’t sticky and the utensils on the table weren’t dirty. Try it out!

I’m pretty stoked on this place! I got a the Five Spice Chicken Sandwich($ 3.50) and the BBQ Pork Vermicelli($ 6.95?) thinking the portions would be small enough to eat both… and I was wrong. I would have been satiated with either, by themselves. The pork was hoppin’ with plenty of fresh veggies and it came with some egg rolls, which were an unexpected, yet pleasant surprise. I powered them all down with a Coke and some Vietnamese Coffee. The coffee was served traditionally with condensed milk and was delightfully strong. The Coke was served out of the can, over ice, as it should be. The sandwich was the clear winner here; seasoned well with mayo, veggies and just the right amount of cilantro and jalapeño. The baguette was, simply put — perfect. «The bread makes the sando,» time and time again, I preach and yet, no one listens. Next time, I’ll be happy with just the sandwich and the coffee. Rock on Vietnamese Delights, rock on. Auf.

Buy 5 Vietnamese sandwiches, get 1 free! That’s an awesome deal and by chance, we had 6 people so it worked out perfectly. I decided to try the Five Spice Chicken Sandwich and it turned out okay. My friends got the BBQ Pork Sandwich and there is probably 30% more meat in that one! Also, you have to take a chance with your sandwich because some have a lot of hot peppers and some don’t. My poor friend’s mouth was on fire. The bread wasn’t as exciting as the first time I had it and was noticeably dry. Luckily we got all these to go so I doused it with sriracha. The Vietnamese Iced Coffee is still quite delicious though! I would come back for that.

I was quite disappointed with taste, this place is owned by Chinese(Cantonese) anyway i rather eat somewhere else ! I don’t know if i want to try the sandwich … i still think(Union City) Cam Huong’s Sandwich is the bomb. The sandwiches only $ 2.75 way cheaper than this place

i was going to go to my regular banh mi place(cam huong, by the starbucks across the railroad tracks; the name escapes me now and i’m too lazy to go looking through my past reviews) but decided, especially after being so bold as to try the ramen restaurant next door, to give the eateries in the lucky strip mall(oy!) a chance(other than the taqueria, which i go to regularly). sorry, awkward intro. continuing. i got the #8 bbq pork sandwich and had to wait a while while the meat was being cooked(i guess?). so, boo for having to wait, but yay for having freshly-prepared meat! it costs 75 cents more compared to cam huong($ 3.50 vs. $ 2.75), but when you factor in the fact that you get hot meat, i guess it’s worth it. another bonus — the sandwich didn’t have jalapeños in it! :D hooray! the meat was a bit oily which detracted from the overall uhh, mouthfeel of the sandwich(sorry, i don’t normally notice these things), but that’s minor. hooray for having a new banh mi place in the area! it was really really empty(just me and another guy waiting for sandwiches) — i hope they manage to stay open! p. s. who knew there were cantonese-speaking vietnamese people?(i will assume the owners/workers are vietnamese, but i was surprised i understood what they were talking about — poor guy was complaining how he was cold.)

Get this place a «They Love Us on Unilocal!» sticker! I stopped by for lunch today and ordered the cha gio and garlic noodles with bbq pork. I also got a bowl of soup which I think is probably the broth they use for their phở. If it is then I’ll be sure to order some phở the next time it’s chilly outside and I need something warm to sooth me. The ca gio was so good! The outside was perfectly crispy and the inside was well stuffed. The fish sauce and vermicelli that came with it were nice too. The garlic noodles were really good too. The garlic wasn’t overpowering but it was flavorful. It shouldn’t scare away anyone that is concerned about smelling of garlic after leaving and those that want more are free to ask for extra garlic. It’s not as buttery and decadent as Crustacean or Thahn Long but it is something I am going to want to order often. The bbq pork was ridiculously flavorful. This dish is probably meant to be shared but I’m glad I was here alone so I could have it all to myself. I’ll bring a friend next time so I can also try another item. I really want this place to stick around so I can have a place to stop in for good vietnamese dishes on a whim. The inside is your typical southeast asian décor. Particle board with fake wood laminate tables, boxy seats that you would find at a reception hall, a small shrine in the corner, and the lucky cat waving at you the whole time. I love it! I forgot to mention that while I was waiting for my food I could hear the meat slicer working away in the kitchen. I don’t know if hey freshly slice every meat order but props to them if they do!

Came here 2 days in a row! First day — phở dac biet for 2 and it was good. I’m giving them 4 stars because the broth wasn’t super flavorful, but it wasn’t bad. Maybe there’s less MSG in it, which would be a good thing. Once you squirt the Sriracha in though, who really cares how the broth started out, it goes in delicious! Bro also had a dac biet sandwich and thought it was really tasty too. Day 2 — had the phở dac biet again and the fried spring rolls, really yummy! The place is nice, if sparsely decorated. There is a curiously placed counter on the side as you can see in the pics, but it didn’t bother me. So glad these guys opened here, will be there again!

i really wish their were half stars because this place is a little better than an «a-ok» but i’m not a fan… not yet anyway. i had lunch here today with my friend and had the beef noodle soup and she had bbq pork with those rice noodles. vermicelli i think they’re called. the beef noodle soup was average at best but her vermicelli was very tasty too. the service was really nice and they offered us this desert of tapioca, mung bean, and seaweed pudding. it was definately new to me and tasted alright, but i don’t know if it was supposed to be served hot or it had just gone lukewarm. overall, its a good place to get full, but not the place to crave… not yet

This place is great! I ordered Coffee with my dad and had the Beef stew with garlic noodles. My dad ordered the seafood combination small soup with a chicken sandwich. First off everything was just delicious! No complains. The coffee was just great. My order of garlic noodles and beef stew was huge and very flavorful. Nice and hot coming out of the kitchen and super fresh. the fresh spring rolls we very nice too. the fried egg roll were great. super crunch and very filling. Service was very nice and the place looked really clean. last but not least are the sandwiches! Soooo good. You have different choices with the meats but it comes on a crispy baguette and fresh slaw and your choice of meat. have that with a bowl of their soup and theres your lunch for under 8 bucks! Enjoy!

Was in the area on Sunday Afternoon running some errands when I decided to stop in at Vietnamese Delights for lunch. Located in the same stripmall as Lucky’s, Vietnamese Delights is your family run Phở House/Deli that you see popping up everywhere as Vietnamese Food becomes more mainstream. Vietnamese Delights is fairly new and the décor here is simple including the chairs and tables. Seems more like just the basics here than anything else. Prices here are reasonable compared to other non-Vietnamese Restaurants but about a buck or two higher than Vietnamese places. Nothing here is more than $ 10 which is good, but things such as Banh Mi(Sandwiches) are $ 3.50(normally they are under $ 3.00), Phở, Plates, and Vermiicelli are $ 5 — $ 8(normally between $ 4 — $ 7), and appetizers such as Eggs Rolls & Spring Rolls are $ 5(normally $ 3) just are high when talking about similar food in the surrounding area. After going through the menu, decided to get the BBQ Sandwich to go. Put in my order and waited for about 5 minutes for my sandwich. Got my sandwich and headed out. The size of the sandwich was reasonable. Took a bit and it was pretty good. I have to say the bread was probably the best part of the sandwich. Vietnamese Delights is very generous with the pork they used. They don’t use that much in terms of veggies on their sandwiches such as daikon, pickled carrots, cilantro, or hot peppers(I think I only had one small piece slice of pepper in my sandwich). Also unfortunately, I don’t think they gave me a BBQ Pork Sandwich. It tasted more like it was stir fried than a BBQ Pork Sandwich. There was just no BBQ flavoring to it and just wasn’t what I expected at all. As to rating, Vietnamese Delights falls into a grey area for me. Compared to places surrounding places, their sandwiches are both cheaper and better than those at Jenjon’s Café which is a plus for Vietnamese Delight but the BBQ Pork Sandwiches about 5 minutes away at Cam Huong are cheaper and tastier(and also they don’t have that annoying Lucky Cat statue there either«encouraging» you to leave a tip either,(they don’t even have a tip jar there)). Vietnamese Delights falls right in between Lee’s Sandwiches which are cheaper but not as good as Vietnamese Delight. So as to rating, probably 3.5 stars. I think I had my mind set on a BBQ Pork Sandwich and not a Stir Fry Pork Sandwich, so because of that I’m rounding them down to 3 Stars. If I was ordering one of their other Pork Sandwiches I probably would have rounded up to 4. But overall, it’s decent enough, you pay a bit more for Sandwiches at Vietnamese Delights, but the quality is definitely there. May come back someday for a future update.

The sandwiches were great. I enjoyed the french bread which is a little more authentic. The BBQ chicken was great. I would put that particular sandwich above Lee’s. The hot coffee was good in flavor and quantity. The eggroll skins are the deep fried spring roll skins which is also a little more authentic and preferable in my opinion.

Newly opened vietnamese food place in Fremont near the Lucky’s. The menu is endearingly titled«Vietnameses Delights». Tried the five spice, «Fancy Pork», and Roast Pork sandwiches between friends. Bread — reasonably fresh, a little flavorless Meat — good quality, no gristle, nice amount of char on the bbq meat Veggies — a bit sparse on the carrots and daikon Flavor — cilantro but no chili slices. Needed more vinegar. The five spice chicken was the best tasting due to the spice coating on the meat lending the sandwich a bit of fire. Staff are friendly and willing to accomodate requests, e.g. pâté on the«Fancy Pork» sandwich. They also have sardine, ham, combination, and pâté(only?) sandwiches. Prices range from $ 3-$ 3.50 for sandwiches. In case you hadn’t noticed, I really like the phrase«Fancy Pork». I plan to use it in a more social setting in the future.
