Michaels

I enjoy this Michaels because they carry a lot of items for different craft projects. Their inventory is always good. The only critique I have is that the line is usually slow and they don’t make use of their 6 register system. Overall ok

Customer service is great… but the long wait on the lines with one register opened makes you not want to visit this location. After a number of people complaining they eventually opened two more registers.

Michales always has the craft items that I need and are reasonably priced. Plenty of parking here.

If arts and crafts is your thing have I got a place for you! There is something for everybody here, from Picture frames, knitting supplies, paints, artificial flowers, plastic models and do it yourself projects. You are bound to find something here to unleash your creative energy
Main and basement level floors houses so many items you will be inspired to create something memorable and fun. The holidays are great here since they have beautiful and festive items for sale and on display.
Plenty of parking in the lot and the folks here are really helpful. The prices are really reasonable as well.

For being on the small side, this Michaels has a decent selection of crafting supplies. It’s walking distance from where I live, so whenever I need something last-​minute, it’s in a convenient location for me. However, it is definitely not my first choice. The aisles are tight and difficult to maneuver with a stroller. Invariably, there are always abandoned restocking projects left in the middle of the row. The customer service here is absolutely appalling. It is near impossible to find anyone on the floor to help out, and the cashiers are effectively useless and unfriendly. Today, for example, I bought several skeins of yarn that were supposed to be on sale, and when I brought that to the attention of the cashier, I was that with the vacuous stare while she thrummed her fingers on the counter. She literally said no words to me through the entire transaction, not even the price, until i very obnoxiously wished her a nice day. On my last visit, the cashier was actually on her cell phone, complaining to whomever it was on the other line about her work day. (I wish I were exaggerating.)
I really do wonder about the interview process for this store. Question: How would you make a customer feel really awkward and unwelcome? Answer: I guess I could call a buddy in the middle of a transaction and complain about how they’re holding me up for my break, whilst simultaneously overcharging them on their purchase. Hired!

This michaels is on the small side compared to others I have been to. Customer service is lacking. It’s hard to find workers to help you in the store and when I called today to ask if a item was in stock I was told to hold. 20 minutes later I was still holding… I’d rather travel to Long Island then come to this michaels.

Being crafty is more work than real work sometimes. You buy all the stuff and then you have to prepare an area to make the stuff. Make sure you have all your stuff and then make time for making the stuff… and then what if you dont finish the project. It sits there and sits there, then you eventually move it cause you need the space for something else, not crafty related. The vicious circle of crafting. 20 years later you find the thing you were making in a box labeled… crafts (what else would you call it). What to do now. donation or trash.
So after my little crafter insight above, this place sure has alot of stuff and some pretty good classes to make you better at painting, cake decorating, etc. Clean, bright and the employees are helpful.

The employees here have always been helpful. They have a decent selection of art supplies and it’s not difficult to find what you’re looking for. I’m just disappointed that they sell scrapbook supplies, and scrapbooks, but not the extra pages to put into your scrapbook. it makes no sense. They also always ask for your e-​mail and other info when you make a purchase. I hate that so many stores are doing this now. Just come out with a loyalty card or do phone number lookups.

Not a lot of variety in this location and their pricing is more than the Michaels in Woodside. Took me a while to find someone for help and she seem annoyed.

Went to the store looking for storage containers. We passed a few different ones, but not the size We needed.
We asked the girl that worked here where more storage containers were. After giving us a blank look, she removed her earphones, then said «what?» My wife asked again and the girl said the aisle we were in were the only storage containers they had.
We did find one of the size containers we needed (in a different section)
The woman at the checkout was friendly.

I thought this Michaels was one of the best Michaels I’ve been to. It is spread out along two floors, and there are a lot of store employees there to assist you. They have everything that you need and it is very organized. If you’re not sure where something is, you can just ask one of the employees and they’ll be able to help. It appears they are usually willing to help, so give it a shot.
Also I love how Michaels have 10−25−40−50% off coupons, which allows you to save so much more. They very nice about the coupon usage here, at least that was the case the last time I was here.
This Michael’s location also have a very big parking lot, so you don’t have to worry about not being able to find parking.
I bought one of those science project boards recently with a coupon and paid $ 2. Good deals if you’re able to find them and apply a nice coupon. Great service here.

I don’t know where to start.
I think this has to be the smallest Michaels branch. I came here sporadically in the past few months, looking for different items that I had thought they had in stock (I checked their websites and they said it was in stock). HOWEVER, there were no more of that item when I came in for a visit. They really need to update and check their inventory because I’ve had enough of wasting my time traveling there to find out that they didn’t have my item.
Also, this is a craft store so I knew that they won’t be selling professional art supplies like Utrecht or Dick Blicks. I also encountered a mix of customer service, some with a bad attitude and others that were pleasantly kind but clueless as hell with what they’re talking about.
Another thing is that there are 8 registers but they only assigned two cashiers working. I’m waiting on line with ten people in front of me. If you’re going to put two people at the register, I hope they’re the fastest item ringers ever or else I’m gonna cut a b*tch. BUT NO, I think they knew I was coming to the store today because I. KID. YOU. NOT. They took their sweet time ringing people’s items up. I just wanted to pay for two items. Instead, after 10 to 15 mins of waiting, I just left my items on the side and left.
I’m not coming back ever again.

This store is a great addition to the neighborhood. I can’t even front, I do kind of miss Filene’s Basement (which was previously occupying this space) but if it had to be replaced by anyone it may as well be Michaels.
The store is spacious with plenty of checkouts. The shelves are well stocked. The prices are okay but they are an especially great bargain when they had the 40% off one item coupons when they first opened. I got a bunch of great supplies here when I was making the gift sachets for my baby shower, photo frames, and jewelry crafting supplies.
There is definitely no other store of it’s kind in the immediate vicinity so I think they will do really well in this shopping center.

Michaels is the perfect place for hosting a practically non-​work, stress and worry-​free children’s bday party! This location is well organized esp the arts & crafts room for many of the workshops. Little did I know, they also do children’s bday parties. For my daughter’s 2^nd bday, we held it at Michaels at this location. Their bday package covers everything from clean-​up to set-​up, rental of the room for 2 hrs in addition to tables & chairs for a $ 50 booking fee. And, all you have to do is either bring your own craft or choose one of the crafts at Michaels or opt out of it completely, and BYO food/​beverage/​décor and, of course the bday cake! Bonus, the drive way has plenty of parking space!
We did a puppy paw-​ty theme for our daughter’s 2^nd bday. I end up doing a few DIY projects for most of the décor-​invites, adoption center for puppy plush dolls, bday banner, etc. All the hard work paid off. The outcome was phenomenal. All of our guests loved the creative touches. Esp the doggie gift bags and favors! For the arts & crafts project, I made my own cardboard dog house for our guests and kids to decorate themselves. Tip: Michaels give a 20% coupon when you book the bday party to use for arts & crafts supplies. I brought most of my arts supplies from A.C. Moore. They carried all of the supplies from Crayola non-​toxic paint, markers, construction paper, glitter, glue, etc. at an extra 40% outlet price. It end up costing a lot cheaper compared to Michaels. I also found glitter glue and pot paints from Target dollar bins. We spent about $ 20 on art supplies. We even set up a photo booth using a mini camera for instant pics! We print out a bunch of props for the photo poses. Our guests had so much fun esp their lil’ ones! For the favors, we just purchased PJ sets in puppy prints incl. a matching doggy mug & coaster set for the parents. We got our bday cake from Du Bois in Elmhurst, a ¼ sheet strawberry shortcake with a custom puppy heart design!
We splurged mostly on the food and cake. The Michaels staff was amazing! They set up all the party supplies, décor, and arts & crafts for all of our guests in addition to the table for the food, presents, and cake. I made sure to tip both store associates for such a great job. For booking purpose, definitely go in person and speak with the events coordinator/​manager. We encountered an issue when our date was booked. It turns out Michaels allow double booking online. There are two time slots for parties either from 1−3pm or 4−6pm. The system allows you to book as early as 2 months ahead. You are allowed to double-​book. Fortunately, their associate, Amber sort out the times. We end up with 4:30 — 6:30pm. We were notified after our bday invites were sent. Their system is unfortunately not organized when it comes to booking the parties. Try to keep no more than 16 – 18 adults in the room. We had 7 children and 17 adults. It was a good fit to move around. Michaels recommends 18 small children and no more than 16 adults. Keep in mind– it is a classroom. Enjoy your birthday planning for your lil’ one!

I’ve never thought there will be a reason for me to walk into a Michaels Arts and Crafts store other than looking for a restroom. It may be true that most of the shoppers there are mostly kids and with their moms. But for a guy who’s more into Harbor Freight Tools or Home Depot type stores, Michaels is an eye and mind opener.
Michaels is not just knitting, sewing and fake flowers. A guitar collector friend of mine suggested going to Michaels for RIT water based dye to stain wood for my electric guitar project.
Browsing the aisles, Michaels offers a variety of «stuff» for all kinds of hobbies regardless if you’re into art, sewing, sports or guitars.
Today, I dragged my son there so he can buy charms and a chain to make a necklace for his «girl» friend’s birthday instead of going to a mall.
For die hard guys who would never step foot into Michaels, they also sell Revell model car kits and paint…
As for one of the Unilocalers who complaint that there are eight registers with only two open, that is so true…

This place has wonderful products but there’s always eight available registers with only two open. It’s ridiculous!
People are friendly and helpful, but this problem with not taking my money quickly enough needs to be resolved.

Please permit me to put on my semi-​suburban hat and boastfully state the two aspects of this Michael’s that I appreciate the most: ample parking and a large, two-​floor interior space.
While I may not craft, my wife most certainly does. Having visited our fair share of Michael’s across the NY/​NJ area, I’m familiar with the layout of most stores and the types of items you’ll find in them. This store isn’t a radical change but does feature a superior check-​out system than the one in Forest Hills/​Metropolitan Avenue.
Actual cordoned off space is dedicated for the checkout area as opposed to the free-​for-​all that usually descends back into the shopping aisles at the Metropolitan store.
Anyone who has walked by the Metropolitan avenue store or attempted to drive there on weekends knows how insanely crowded the parking lot can be thanks to Trader Joe’s, Home Depot and other shops in the immediate vicinity.
Not so at this outpost on Horace Harding, where there’s enough real estate for plentiful parking.
The checkout staff was extraordinarily cheerful, courteous and helpful. We didn’t have any of the legendary Michael’s coupons in our possession at the time. No problem! Friendly checkout girl magically applied a coupon and we saved 25% instantly.
I’m convinced that at this Michael’s you can find just about anything you need for nearly any craft you may be into. Lacking in manual dexterity but certainly not creativity, I can appreciate the bountiful aisles of knick-​knacks and doodads the enthusiasts can use to bring their projects to life.

I love Michael’s! They had great deals Saturday. On top of the stuff they have on sale, they were offering 25 percent discount to all your items before noon (coupon needed). There was a line of people, but the cashiers were fairly quick and I was able to purchase my stuff in due time.
They have great stuff for decorations, jewelry making, and much much more.

Michael’s hobby & crafts store opened in place of the previous Filene’s Basement at this strip mall location. When it was Filene’s they didn’t get very much foot traffic here and closed when the rest of the chain went bankrupt. I hope that Michael’s can make a decent go at it.
They have a wide variety of arts and crafts supplies from scrap booking, sewing, minor woodworking to fine arts such as painting. They even have a custom framing shop. In one corner, they even have my near extinct hobby of model airplanes taken care of, though not as well stocked as specialty hobby stores, but basic stuff. I stopped in today to pick up some picture frames and being as it is a new store, the shelves are very well stocked and a lot of curious shoppers checking out the new kid on the block.
