I would recommend this place to anybody that works downtown and even if they didn’t it’s worth a drive. They are very nice, have competitive prices and go above any beyond to inform you about recommended future services for your car.

These guys helped me out, plain and simple. On my way home from Yosemite my check engine light came on. I was four hours from home and it was the end of the day. I was afraid to set out without some idea of what the problem was. So I rolled in an hour before they closed on what looked to be a busy day already, and one of the main guys (or maybe the main guy, not sure) took a moment to check the codes on my car. After some weird codes and consultation with one of the other mechanics they gave me the info I needed to make me feel alright about heading home, and did it all without charging anything despite me trying to pay. All the while they were courteous and never made it seem like a hassle even thought I’m sure it was because of the time of day and weird readings. So huge thanks to them and I hope this review helps to convince someone to give them their business. Should another chance present itself they’ll have mine.

We broke down on our way to Sequoia and these guys helped get us on the road again. They were honest and reasonably priced.

Saved me $ 2,000!!! I took my wife’s car to our normal guy because it would not start. He told me I would need to re-​haul the engine and it would cost me $ 2,500. We could not afford it at the time so the car sat in our driveway for a few months. Once I had the money to fix it, I was told to take it to D&R so I did. After about 2 hours they called me back and told me it would be $ 500 to fix and I could pick it up in an hour. Car runs better than ever now!
I also take my BMW there for oil changes because all of the «BMW Shops» charge over $ 100 for a simple oil change. D&R get’s me out for $ 40 less than what I was paying.

I have been going to D&R auto for the past 2 years now. I have had excellent experience like others did. I was always given good and honest service from Tony.
Recently I visited D&R for an oil change, my exhaust had come loose and I wanted to get the brake fluid changed (my brakes were mushy).
I found out that Tony was out sick and Mark is the new replacement. Mark does’nt know the basics of auto repair or how to diagnose problems. He does not even know that a manual transmission car with a hydraulic clutch has a clutch master cylinder.
He started quoting hideous prices of basic repairs.
My wife also had a bad experience with them a couple of months backs. Too bad this place was close to my work and now I have to find a new place.

I really don’t want to knock off a star but since my car has been here a total of 4 times in the last month and it still isn’t right, I felt I need to knock one off. They have been very helpful and tried their best to fix it. They are having me go to A-​1 Auto (their sister store, same owner) next week in order to see if they can fix it.
I work downtown and it wasn’t until after my third visit they suggested errand solution that will allow D&R to pick my car up at work and then drop it off when they finish so I don’t have to wait.
They have gone above and beyond to try to fix it and maybe it just needs a new person looking at it.

My father-​in-​law took his car to another place that was going to overcharge him. We ended up bringing it here based on the reviews and they did a great job for a reasonable price. Efren was great. You won’t get ripped off here and if you say you heard about the place on Unilocal they give 10% off!

I was a first time customer. I brought my car in to have the front struts replaced after getting a good price quote from Efrain and reading the other positive Unilocal reviews. This shop is located two blocks from my work and it’s in a pretty convenient location for the average downtown employee. The actual price I paid was a little under the quote I was given; that’s a winner in my book! The service staff was professional and I was able to get my car in and out of the shop with no problem. The work order is thorough and clearly explains the price of each service performed. They do a good job of answering questions without making you feel incompetent. I’d recommend this shop to a friend and I plan on making this my new «go to» auto repair shop.

after reading all the great reviews on this place, i decided to give this place a try. my AC was blowing hot air. so i took it in to get the freon recharged. Tony the manager told me that first they would look for a leak and if they don’t find any they will go ahead and recharge the freon and it should only cost 70 bucks for everything. i dropped it off and i get a call from Tony and he said one of my A/​C line needed to be replaced and it needed to be specially ordered from the dealer. i went back to pick up my car and he showed me exactly what was going on. i asked him how much i owe him for today’s work and he told me i don’t owe him anything. usually most places in town would charge a diagnose fee. so i left and he called me back a few days later to tell me that the part came in and i took my car back in and got it taken care of. i couldn’t be happier with the service.

This place is amazing! I went in for an oil change and received an honest diagnosis for my POS car free of charge. They are friendly and quick. I found my new mechanic!

You get 2 stars because of the good customer service. The place gets 3 stars taken out for the very high, I mean very high prices. I checked with the dealership, yes, the dealership was cheaper to diagnose and fix. $ 98 for a diagnostic is unheard of! The dealership charged my brother $ 65 for a diagnostic and $ 700 for the same issue in the same car. I was charged the $ 98 for the diagnostic and $ 800 for the same issue. Save your money and shop around.

My daughter goes to school at Fresno and she has to have a car to get around, I just happened to be down there when the car lost all power. They opened early, the car was towed to them and they had us back up and running with a new alternator and battery by 3pm. Honest and affordable. We have to bring the car back for a new thermostat and we are relieved to know that this shop is here. Thanks for Great service.

Came here for an oil change: $ 38 for oil and filter in 45 min. Very straightforward and quick, and Tony the manager is great!

This place lives up to its high start rating. I came here for an oil change before a road trip. The guys checked all my lights and they noticed the license plate light was out… and they fixed it as part of the oil service. I was very grateful for the super service an I encourage Unilocalers to bring their car in for an oil change or other work. A real gem in the heart of Downtown Fresno. Thanks D & R

I was sick and tired of the poor customer service and the ridiculous prices at the dealership and decided to take my business elsewhere. D&R was the answer to my prayers! They do a lightening fast oil change and the service is second to none. They’re my go-​to whenever I’m home in Fresyes.

Impressed! We bought an older, high-​milage BMW 7-​series a couple years ago for a cheap price. It ran well for a long time, but I knew we’d be due for some substantial repairs at some point. That point came last week.
Now, it is a fun car to drive but if a mechanic so much as looks in its direction, it starts to cost money. The parts alone are just outrageously expensive, but mechanics and everyone else seem to think if you are driving this car you have plenty of money to burn (not really how I’d characterize my situation). For this reason it can be tricky finding an honest mechanic.
Through the magic of Unilocal we found D&R, and were not let down. Our experience was everything you want from a mechanic: courteous, timely, and professional. They didn’t even charge us for labor on several of the repairs because they were «already in there» — wow! I’d have no problem believing I saved between $ 500 to $ 1000 or more from what a typical mechanic would have charged, let alone the dealership…
Definitely planning on taking every car problem I have to this shop, and recommending it to everyone I know… they are that good. All these 5-​stars don’t lie!

I had been needing an alignment and an oil change since I bought new tires and do some commuting to school. I call this place and they said to come in the next day at 8:30 am.
I do so, and as I was driving downtown i was wondering HOW they could have an autoshop because everything looked like big tall businesses. I was scared I would pass it up haha. Anyways, it’s right on the corner of tulare street i think, across from the convention center. Keep an eye out, cause I didn’t see an actual sign that said D&R, but rather just what looks like a mechanics garage, different posters with tire brands, and cars in it haha. Not till I got in the garage that I saw a somewhat hidden sign.
Anywho, the alignment for 4 wheels was only $ 60, a steal! And the oil change was 36 $ i think. Totaled to about $ 97. They said it would take a few hours to complete, but it was faster than that. Conveniently, across the street is a couple of small chain restaurants so I went to starbucks, took advtantage of their wifi, and waited it out while i did some hw since I didn’t have a ride home.
Tony (the guy who helped me) called me in an hour and a half and said my car was done. Faster than I thought, and I was happy haha, it saved me from seeing half the people that go into starbucks that didn’t need it. Anyways, I anticipated like 3 hours, but alas, it was really fast!
Got in, paid, and left with out any extra charges and such that I hear mechanics like to do when they «see something wrong» that probably isn’t significant enough. Straight to the point, easy on my wallet. Tony was nice. (:

I called quite a few areas around Fresno to check prices on rear brake pad replacements, and D&R was the cheapest I found. I already had my own brake pads, I would have changed them myself but the stupid caliper bolt was completely stuck, and I couldn’t get an impact wrench to fit in the area. So I was only looking for labor charges and cost to resurface the rotors. Tony from D&R quoted me $ 89 for labor and $ 25 to resurface both rear rotors. $ 89 for labor is more expensive than what I’m used to from my usual Vietnamese mechanic from Orange County, but it is by far the cheapest I could find in Fresno.
The place is your typical garage, there are no waiting areas or anything. But the place is nicely located within walking distance of a lot of shops (Suishi Hana, Quizno’s, Starbucks, etc) so you can go grab a bite or drink while your car is being worked on. I dropped off the car and walked over to Starbucks with my laptop (I’m so glad they offer free wifi now). It took about an hour and my car was ready to go.
Quick and excellent service at a fair price.
