Ficarra Studios

It’s my Mom’s 50^th birthday and as a gift we finally decided to get those photos taken that she’s always wanted and sweetened the deal by booking at a professional studio.
This studio is in a sketchy part of town. I wasn’t too comfortable walking around the Tower District especially seeing cop cars lined up all over but I guess that should have made me feel somewhat safer.
The studio is professionally designed with Mr. Ficarra’s work all over the walls and in portfolio books in the waiting room. We were instructed ahead of time to wear all black with dark denim jeans and there was a makeup studio to get our hair and makeup done.
Our appointment was at 5PM and we were promptly greeted at that time by Mr. Ficarra himself and led into the studio where he cheerfully set us up and took our photos and promised us these would make our Mother cry. I guess we’ll see about that.
The studio fee is $ 50 and he can also shoot on location for $ 150 and cover special events like weddings, parties, etc. The photos are uploaded online within a few hours for viewing which I thought was really cool. The prints are pretty expensive and will run you around $ 1,000 but the work is professional and he can also photoshop any blemishes and exchange smiles from one frame into another frame and other neat things like that. We were able to view our photos before leaving and if we weren’t satisfied he would happily re-​shoot until our heart’s content without charging anything extra.
I would highly recommend this studio for any of your family photos or special events.

The proofs are already up for viewing — there are quite a few good ones and we are happy as clams. And that is before the retouching to remove wrinkles, rolls, etc.!! Would definitely go back, and definitely recommend.
