Fresno North Department of Motor Vehicles

I’ve come here to do all my business for years. Yes, it’s nice to get an appt. and lately the lines have bee around the corner, but I’ve always been able to get in and out within an hour or so. I have two boys, so quickness is always good.
This last time one of the employess (he is an Asian fellow), went above and beyond. He spoke to the boys, asked them questions, and kept them involved. I am so grateful to him for making my visit one hundred times better. He was so understanding and thorough.

Its the DMV so went in with low expectations. Left with even Lower expectations! Long lines, long waits, and every employee with a long face!

This is worst DMV I have been to. Had to stop here and did not have appointment. The lines up front are a joke. There is no order once you get to front. Take a seat and wait for about two hours. Rude staff as well and this is your typical DMV horror story. Worst DMV experience ever.

Okay look we are talking about a DMV here. There is no way to give a decent rating or review because this is a place ran by the government. Let’s be real the place is a place I’d like to shoot a horror film in.

In and out in 30 minutes! Best experience at any DMV ever!!!

Had an appointment, but still had to wait about 25 minutes for my number to be called. Had two things to take care of and when I started to ask the man assisting me a question he put his hand up and said «this will all unfold as we go along», basically «shut up». The lady taking my photo was very rude too. Chivalry is really dead at the DMV too. Couldn’t believe this one woman came in obviously pregnant and not one man stood up to offer her a chair. But I did and I’m a woman. They also need more space to do your paperwork as well. One table only and too many people crowded around it. Of course they all give you dirty looks even if you asked politely «can I please squeeze in here?» Glad I won’t need to visit that place in a very long time. The employees really live up to their bad reputation.

Made an appointment, and paid the massive fee (so expensive to drive in CA) to register motorcycle, no problem. I asked for a motorcycle handbook. Did not have one… check the table, DMV did not have them out for customers, another DMV employee told me I would have to wait 45 minutes to an hour in the non-​appointment line to get the handbook (they had many of the driving handbooks out, but failed to have motorcycle ones available). One employee, who was not with a customer, could have walked 10 feet and grabbed me one, but would not make the effort. She could have used the exercise. LAZY– malevolence.

The wait time wasn’t to bad about an hour and a half, but they had a line going outside the building into the sun so I stood in the sun for about 30 minutes. The wait could have been worse though because they were extraordinarily busy. Staff as grumpy as every other DMV no more no less.

Boy has the clientele change at this DMV. This has only made the government workers even worse then they were before. Took motorcycle test there today and the answers to some of the questions made no sense and I new not try to explain it to none riders/​government workers but had to make an argument. If you going to take motorcycle test be ready for some of the answers to not make an real world sense. DMV got good racket, you see the test questions that have incorrect wording and if you fail that test you only get to keep it in tell you retake the test again any they take the test you failed back from you when you retest and now you have no written facts to show the public the error made by bureaucrats.

Nice wait times on the website, that makes it easier. 33 minutes was really 2:19 I would suggest you include the over 1 hour wait in the start here line with your estimates. Im 38 years old now and all my life the DMV has been inefficient and slow. Nothing changes apparently.

As far as dmvs go this one is my favorite in the greater Fresno area. Typical line wait time w/​o appt (from my experience) is only about 5 – 15 minutes. Staff has been actually helpful. If you ever have to endure a trip to the dmv this one is usually the most convenient.

Greeted with a smile and a joke. Nice way to get started in a government office; much better than SSA (we went to both today in order to compare).

I felt like none of the employees knew what they were doing and everyone (except the friendly guy taking pictures) probably had a stick up their ass. I would not come here if you’re already having a bad day… it will become much MUCH worse. I had an appointment and yet it took me 2 hours for one DL (no test, just the app and a picture). I’d rather the DMV not live up to its crappy rep, but it did.

Business hours: M/​T/​Th/​F 8 – 5; W 9 – 5; Closed holidays. Wish they had weekend hours, even once a month.

THEY DID NOT UPDATE MY SCORE AND EYE EXAM
There is no problem with wait time but having to wait for so long for my DL because somebody in this office did not put my score and eye exam completion in the system just earned them 2 stars.

This is the only decent DMV in town. It’s the only environment that’s never packed, you barely have to wait, and the people are actually nice and helpful which is extremely rare for any dmv!

Fast service. In fact, this is the fastest DMV office that I’ve ever been into. Without an appointment, I was here twice and my waiting time for both times is about under 15 minutes. Very efficient and very nice employees.

If you need to go, make it early in the morning — and make an appointment. Later in the afternoon, it is crazy. Have to walk thru the smokers outside, and many people have worked all day in the sun and the smell a little strong.

There are days and times this DMV can be very busy, especially in the afternoon. Today, I must have been pretty lucky! I came in needing a duplicate Driver’s License because I lost my old one, and I needed new license plates cuz my car only came with one, and I need two for a fix-​it ticket.
I had all my information and the wait was only about 15 minutes. Yes, I did happen to come in early in the morning. I walked in at 8:15am and walked out at 8:50am. I filled out my forms while waiting to be called up. Paid my expenses and happened to have a friendly employee helping me. No problems at all… though I was a little disappointed when I went to have my picture taken for my new license and was told I am not allowed to smile. :(Hey, I’m a happy person in general, lemme smile!
This is not my first time here, and on their busy times you can be here for quite a while even if you do have all the information ready. Other people are not so well prepared and demand help without proper documents. Get with it, people!
