Star Mutts

Star Mutts has definitely earned all their great reviews! Since it is family owned and operated, there aren’t dozens of dogs being groomed at once so they get more one-​on-​one attention. My puppy was only groomed once before [at a big box pet store that shall remain nameless] and when I picked her up she was shaking and practically climbing up my neck to get out of there. They told me she was so nervous she had gotten sick. When I picked her up at Star Mutts, her tail was wagging and she was her happy, spunky little self! What a difference!

I am soooooo happy with this groomer. My dog apparently was aggressive and bit her. I felt really bad and what she said to me was awesome! they are very friendly and honest I would recommend them to everyone I know! They gave me tips on what to do with my dog bad manners. I am very appreciative. This is my dog personal groomer won’t go anywhere else. Thank you star mutts grooming! God Bless you!

Came in last minute as a walk-​in appointment. Did not know what to expect since i had been taking my pup to Petsmart for grooming. She was very nice and honest with us. She give us tips on how we can groom our little one at home. She also did a fantastic job. Will definitely return again.

I have had some bad experiance with another groomer but Star Mutts was the best experiance ever. They were so kind and friendly i would recomend them to everyone and anyone. They were so good with my dog.

Gwen and her staff are the best at what they do! Gwen always makes my pets feel safe and relaxed as soon as we walk into Star Mutts. My dogs always leave with a high quality cut and smelling so so good!

I have been bringing my little man here for about a year now. And he absolutely loves his Spa family. In the past we have taken him to other groomers and getting him to go was like pulling teeth. Than we found Star Mutts and now he gets excited to go. I highly highly recommend them. Come join the family.

I had a chihuahua who desperately needed her little nails trimmed. I called Star Mutts and they were able to take care of her that same day. They were very friendly, and gentle with my nervous little doggie. I will definitely return!

Absolutely love love love Gwen and her staff! They have always been great with my boys and very loving and informative. My boys love them too which says a lot :) This is THE FIRST & ONLY place I will take my fur children for their grooming needs. Highly recommended!

It’s been over a year since we’ve last been here. We used to come here when the old owner had it but then she moved out of state and sold the place. Last time we came there was a new lady and her son working there. We went once a bit early to pick up our dog and sat to wait. As we waited, the groomer would talk with her adult son about owners who came in and out of the salon. She wasn’t saying very nice things, just taking down about people. I got a very bad vibe from her. She also wasn’t very loving with the animals. My dog snapped at her several times (my new groomer over the past year has yet to complain about our dog snapping, and I ask every time whether he did.) obviously our dog didn’t like this lady. The groomer and her son step out very often to smoke. Which adds to the wait time for each groom. My dog would come home and seem depressed. We stopped coming here. Wish the old owner could have stayed.

Let me start by saying Star Mutts is awesome. They are professional, personable, friendly, competitively priced and my mutt (a poodle mix) leaves looking happy and well groomed. They give reminder phone calls for your doggy’s appointment and they are fast, but thorough. My dog and I have tried many different groomers before Star Mutts, but now we’ve finally found a home. If you want a pleasurable and happy grooming experience for your dog, look no further.

We had such a great first impression last week! We took our two shih tzu’s in for a much needed cut. The woman and man at the counter were so inviting and nice! But to mention, they did a great job and our dogs look and smell fabulous. We can’t wait to return!

I brought my fur baby Marley in today. He hasn’t been to a professional very often and is skittish around blow dry time. They were patient with him. He looks amazing and he knows it!

I took my Brittany in for grooming and Ms. Carr did an excellent job of grooming her.
She gave suggestions on what would be the best cut and care for my Belle. Also she was done with in 2 hours. I will definitely return.

I brought my Yorkie mix here after I adopted him from the shelter. He had been found after some idiot just let him go off on his own (he was micro chipped and the owner told the shelter to keep him). So he was matted and had «prickers» throughout his long fur and did not smell like roses!
When I picked him up he was cut very short and they were apologetic for having to cut him so short! I thought that was very nice because there wasn’t anything else they could have done! My little Cuby looked adorable and this is the only place I will EVER bring him!

I took my dog here in January of this year when I went to visit my parents near Fresno. I live in Santa Barbara and have a regular groomer that I take Penny to. Penny is a cairn terrier mix. I’ve never had a problem with a groomer butchering my dog and I expected a great hair cut given the 5 star reviews. I dropped Penny off after telling the groomer i wanted about ½ inch trimmed over all, and to please trim her tail. Penny has had her tail trimmed before with no issue. I pick up my dog two hours later, and Penny is quivering and not happy. She was also almost shaved to the skin. I would not have recognized her if she hadn’t wagged her tail at me.
I didn’t notice in the shop, because I went from bright exterior to dim interior, but the groomer completely shaved the top of her tail. It looked like my dog got a terrible wax. My veterinarian couldn’t believe it, and the fur has not grown back. It’s been nearly a year and she is still bald over 5 inches on her tail. My vet said the skin is traumatized and the likelihood that the fur will grow back is minimal. Penny now has to be slathered in pet sunscreen for outings.
I think it is completely unprofessional that the groomer did not tell me that they had made that mistake and waive the cost of the groom. They let me walk out of there with a traumatized dog.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. I wish I could give them zero stars. I wish my dog had her beautiful coat back. And I wish this experience hadn’t left her with high anxiety for grooming.

I highly recommend Star Mutts. I have a big German Shep and he is a handful. They were able to work with him and connect with him. When I returned to pick him up he was happy and had made a new friend. His coat was shiny and very soft. I live about 40mins away but it was well worth the drive. Also the staff was very very nice.

Today was my dog Jades first time and they were amazing with her. They took their time, they’re very nice, understanding, patient and do very well with bigger dogs like mine. I highly recommend them and am definitely looking forward to bringing my dog back!

I want to warmly recommend this place to anyone looking for friendly, professional, yet reasonable priced grooming facility.
I took my standard poodle puppy for his first clip. The owner was extremely sweet allowing him time to accommodate to the environment and took the time to make him feel comfortable. I was welcomed to stay for the time of his grooming, so I was able to observe how kind and professional they treat all their customers.
They are highly knowledgable and use professional products fitted to pet’s specific needs in terms of skin and coat.
This is the place that will we continue to use on a permanent basis.
