History

Established in 1973.

TOTLCOM Inc. is an aggressive telecommunication services company and has provided innovated voice and data telecommunication solutions for business for over four decades.

Founded by Sam Bishop and Verle Bogue, the company started in Santa Cruz, California as a Radio Common Carrier — providing car telephones and paging services. The company name in those early days was Santa Cruz Radio Service.

In the early 1980s congressional hearing were underway to deregulate the AT&T and Bell Systems monopoly and allow private ownership of telecommunications equipment. Foreseeing the pending opportunity to introduce advanced technology to businesses, Sam Bishop changed the company name to TOTLCOM Inc. The initial telecommunications systems were installed in 1981 — before the actual breakup of AT&T and the Bell System companies.

Business Owner

Sam Bishop is President of TOTLCOM Inc. the position he has held since launching his communications company in the wake of the break-​up of the Bell System. In this role, Sam has managed his company through the complex analog/​electronic/​digital/​IP evolution of the telecommunications industry. During this time, TOTLCOM has grown to four physical offices in Northern California, with system installations and support throughout the United States with a few foreign locations as well.

Sam has more than 40 years of management experience in telecommunications, starting as an Electronics Maintenance Officer in the United States Navy, then a Product Engineer for Sylvania Electronics Systems. Prior to starting his own business, Sam spent 10 years as General Manager of Santa Cruz Telephone Answering and Radio Service, a radio common carrier (pre-​dates cell phones).
