Great food and custard desserts. A little pricey but worth it.

Well, as I’ve mentioned in my other posts, I am living with #Type2Diabetes: however, I LOVE sweets, especially chocolate and rich, creamy custard/ice cream. I’ve lived in the area for over a decade, and never took the time to check the place out. One night, my boyfriend and I decided to go for it! I’m a big fan of turtle pecan(chocolate, caramel, and pecans), so we both decided to try THEGIZMO… It was so good. That night was nice and windy, perfect patio weather. We sat out on their unique garage-style patio and waited. It was worth the wait! The second visit was not so amazing. This time, they were heavy on the the hot fudge and caramel. Next time, I’ll put in a request to go light on it — I would like to experience more pleasure in tasting the custard. So, order for next time will be — heavy on the pecans, and keep it a little light on the caramel, use chocolate syrup instead of hot fudge, and just the right amount of whipped cream! I may try their other menu items at some point, but first I want to get THEGIZMO, just the way I like it! Oh, and yeah it’s a little pricey. But you pay for quality, rich ingredients! #FriscoFave #OldTimeCharm #DowntownFrisco #SweetTreats

Came in on Tuesday night and the young girl working the drive thru was rude and acted as if she didn’t want to be working. Won’t be coming back here ever again… left a bad taste in my mouth.

I have been to Double Dip many times with friends and family, and we have always left with a smile. The quality is on point, and what you get for the price is usually high yield. Take the strawberry shortcake sundae– 2 – 3 scoops of ice cream, legit whipped cream, strawberries, AND and generously sized«baby» bundt cake! It’s definitely best to share that one, or any of the sundaes. I love that they offer to mix in peanut butter, which I have yet to see at big commercial chains. The atmosphere is also very pleasant– happy families, teams after the game, big glass garage doors rolled up to let in the breeze.

Hands down — get their ‘Mango Dango’… It’s the absolute BEST frozen custard flavour(of the south — so they say)

This place needs more love! I came after stuffing myself during dinner. But I couldn’t resist all the ice cream and custard options. My friend got an apple pie a la mode. It was a legitimate warm, Apple pie with a gooey, salted caramel sauce. The caramel was so salty it was pretty much inedible for me. But the crust and apples was really tasty. Who doesn’t like warm apple pie and ice cream? I got a strawberry shortcake, which turned out to be a large hundreds cake slices in half and topped with ice cream, whipped cream, strawberries and maraschino cherries. It was huge but I still ate half of it. I brought it home and refroze it. Best afternoon snack ever. The place is really cute but seating options are fairly limited. On a busy day it might be hard to find a table. But go ahead and take it to go. They gave me a lid for my ice cream. Service was fast and friendly. It is a little pricey for each item but you get a huge portion for the price. I recommend sharing. It’s probably not the best quality stuff but it’s definitely a fun warm weather treat if you’re ever in the area.

Good custard with tons of add ins and different styles(sundaes, concretes, scoop, etc). It is kind of expensive in my opinion especially if you throw in a lot of add ins, but you do get quite a bit of custard so I guess it balances it out for the price. I know the small for me was a lot! The interior/exterior does leave a lot to be desired.

The grandkids enjoyed their custard cones. A bit pricey but an interesting place and nice folks behind the counter.

I came here on a Wednesday night after the heat of summer had passed and there were still a handful of people there. There was no one in line but there was also no one helping as all the windows were closed and I had to tap on the window to get their attention. I did not get custard but instead got a milkshake because I was in the mood. They offer a few mint varieties including mint and chips, and frosted mint. I went for the frosted mint since I had never heard of such a thing. I think that was my mistake. The shake had a strong mint taste, but was white(not green) and no chips. I really missed the chips and the shake was not as thick as I would have liked. I’m sure other stuff on the menu is good, just haven’t had the chance to indulge. I will update my review accordingly when I do.

I don’t get this place’s appeal. If you like –rundown, outdated, looks like a failing health score establishments –overpriced, unimpressive, and skimpy desserts –high top only seating that’s super limiting –a sketchy area of town Then this is the place for you. $ 8 for a «regular»(aka small everywhere else) ice cream? They didn’t even mix the crap into it! I’ve had MCFLURRIES that tasted better than this mess. They tout they have strawberry custard. No they don’t. They have vanilla with some strawberry syrup looking crap on top. While the custard was ok, again, see McFlurry reference. I won’t be back.

Good custard, a lot of toppings. A great assortment of add-ins and pretty good flavors. Gizmo is great with a lot of rich chocolate and pecans. My only downside to this place is the fact it is very expensive. Pretty much $ 8 after tax for a lot of the things here, per serving, makes to be an expensive outing. Don’t get me wrong, we like coming here, just hard to justify a $ 40 outing for the family on custard. Pacugio offers a great alternative with just as satisfying results.

Delicious custard! I had the caramel sundae and it was fabulous! They are the perfect size and the atmosphere of the old style custard shop was great! We’ll be back for sure.

My SO and I got the well revered brownie sundae(pie in the sky), and were not impressed. While the custard was good, we got two golf ball sized scoops, and the size of the brownie was almost even more laughable. It was 50% «marshmallow cream»(whipped cream), and cost $ 8 for a medium that took us 3 minutes to eat together. I also got a raspberry lemonade which was really raspberry syrup with a lemon slice. The viscosity of this«drink» was insane, and it was so sweet I couldn’t help but pour $ 4 down the drain. Conclusion: overpriced, small serving size, unimpressive. Will not return.

I got this brownie fudge sundae and a raspberry lemonade. Brownie fudge sundae– totally skimped on the brownie. They actually didn’t even give me a full brownie just two thin strips. They also skimped on the custard but surely did load up on the whipped cream. It was a good sundae but then again they are hard to mess up. For the price I would have at least liked to have a full brownie. Raspberry lemonade– worst crap ever lol. It’s actually comical. It says fresh squeezed lemonade and I just cannot believe that this is the truth. They put so much raspberry syrup that I could barely taste the lemon and it actually changed the viscosity of the liquid. I brought the«fresh squeezed raspberry lemonade» home and put a little bit of the liquid syrup in a big cup with a whole FRESHSQUEEZEDLEMON and fill the rest with water… this makes it much better and no longer taste like liquid diabetes. All in all, I will never go here again unless it’s free. :)

What a yummy, cute little place… but the prices are really high. I had a kids chocolate custard with pecans. Hubs had a Gizmo. Both had a really great taste… especially the pecans. Glad we got to try it.

Some really great frozen custard — the Grasshopper is my favorite! This place is also dog friendly and if you ask for a «poochie cone», they will give you a free tiny portion for your dog(s). Prices are a little high, so I’d recommend getting the largest size and then splitting it with another person.

Yes, yes, and yes again! Holy h*ll…how did I only *just* find this place!!! I’ll say it straight up — it’s not cheap, but I will happily hand over my first-born for this frozen amazing-ness that makes my inner fat girl do a happy dance. It is so freaking good. I highly recommend the cookie dough topping and pretty much anything with chocolate sauce on it. If you like ice cream this is a MUST! Oh and they do accept credit cards, so go to town! :)

For those unaware: Texas can get fairly warm in the summer. Warm weather warrants cold, creamy concoctions(of countless calories) *kekeke* Frozen Custard is the ultimate frozen treat, thus I seek it out rather than gelato or Fro Yo. Nothing can compare to the richness & mouth-feel associated with Frozen Custard. Double Dip understands my sentiments. Thus I come calling. Double Dip has an ‘interior’ that is only for staff, the customers are in a sort of garage. It is very sufficient as the fans manage to keep the environment at a very comfortable level. The menu selection is good. Many flavors of custard, many toppings, many sundae options. For breakfast, I had two sundaes: –Pie in The Sky: Brownie, Vanilla Custard, Hot Fudge, Marshmallow Cream, Pecans, Whipped Cream. Very delicious. Rich Custard+Rich Brownie+Rich Fudge+Rich Marshmallow Cream. Mmmmm… Rich… I don’t understand complaints of ‘Too Rich’. NEVER! My main complaint is that I was given too little frozen custard compared to the other ingredients. It is hard to differentiate between the whipped cream on top and the frozen custard, so from first glance it looks okay, but it ended up being mostly whipped cream. –Pina Colada Sundae: Pineapple Frozen Custard, Pineapples, Crunchy Coconut Shavings. Plenty of coconut on top, with plenty of frozen custard in the cup. Pretty good, not as rich as the brownie sundae, but a better ratio of frozen custard. __________ The sundaes in a cup seem to have a better ratio of frozen custard than the sundaes in a bowl. In addition, they hold the custard better. Unfortunately, being frozen custard, is suffers the same fate as most frozen custards do when exposed to the pleasant Texas environment. It melts quickly. Ya gotta eat up quick! Although, having a custard shake in the end ain’t such a bad thing either. They offer large tubs of frozen custard to go, in order to enjoy at home. This route would alleviate the melting problem, and would prolly allow for a better Frozen Custard experience.
