Hidden Cove Park & Marina

Thought I paid the $ 5 admission fee only to find out they charged me $ 50. Boone was willing to help but they assured me the manger would call and clear it up. A day later and still no contact.

Could be a little bit cleaner.

$ 5 per person — not per car, per person. Guess we can’t save money and pile up like a clown car. So… is it a state park since we’re being charged? If so, it should be cleaner, right? Looks like a typical lake site to me. Anyways, we had rented boats & jetskis here in the past. We came for a Groupon paddleboarding deal. Had fun. Service was friendly.

Shortly after moving to McKinney from Seattle, WA back in October, I came to Hidden Cove Park to try and take pics of the sunset over Lewisville Lake.
I pulled up to the entrance and a gentleman came out, who was very nice, and said it was $ 10 to enter the park. It caught me off guard at first since I haven’t been to a park that cost money other than a state park. I drove in down the main road and couldn’t believe how big the park is. Right off the bat when you pull in there is a good size Marina with a boat launch and a general store to purchase goods. There is even a kids playground and public restrooms. Next to the Marina they had picnic areas where you can BBQ. I also noticed a dump station for people with RV’s, which is very convenient.
The camping grounds looked pretty big and had plenty of spots to set up camp to enjoy a nice weekend. By the camp sites there were trails that lead out to the lake and allow you to see some of wildlife.
I realized quickly that the lakeside beaches are not sand like I had back in Washington. The shores are clay and it gets caked on the bottom of your shoes, so bring a scraper. Haha. Oh yeah, don’t forget to bring mosquito spray, especially in late Fall. When I was there the Mosquitos were all over the place once the sun had set. I’m glad they didn’t eat me alive since I was wearing shorts, t-​shirt and sandals. I noticed the two fisherman looking at me funny as they were bundled up. Silly out of towner, lol.

Holy moly. The guy at the front gate was vicious. I won’t go back to this place based on the attitude of this man. Hopefully we’ll find another spot to bring the family.

Had a campout event here this past weekend. We rented 4 or 5 cabins. The cabins are comepletely bare, so bring your air matress/​cot/​etc. Each cabin has a picnic table, fire pit & BBQ grill. And water spicket. The little cove was awesome to float in. The bathrooms were ok… shower pressure sucked big time, they need to update that. The women’s bathroom could’ve been cleaner. I enjoyed our campout there and would camp there again.

Who knew there was such a quaint lake in Frisco! The park boasts camping, fishing, recreation, hiking, and of course, a marina. I personally don’ t own a boat but if you have the urge to hop aboard, you can always join the Big D boating club and rent one at your leisure.
I came mainly out of curiosity and lack of waterfront options in Frisco. I wanted to stay close to home but still feel like I was Miles away remembering my younger years eating fried chicken hanging out lakeside in Michigan, the state of a gazillion lakes.
I would say I was pleasantly surprised with the park and facilities. The lake is a decent size and there are plenty of picnic pavillions, water spouts and BBQ grills though I would personally bring my own were I to grill. There is a sandy strip of beach where kids can play in the sand… swimming looked a bit muddy but the kids seemed to be having. a blast.
This is a great place to hang out on a summer weekend… bring your cooler, suntan lotion and a few foldout chairs and enjoy! I will be back to check out the hiking trails!
Note: bring a trash bag as there are no trash cans on site just a few
dumpsters. Entrance fee is $ 10 per car.

I really like this park! I go every year for Sizdah Bedar (an Iranian new year celebration) and it’s always well-​kempt, and just overall nice. The only downside is during this event, they charge $ 15 for parking. The park is gigantic and has plenty of space for anything.

I was REALLY disappointment with this park. It has areas for swimming and some trails but the trails didn’t have easy access to the water. Overall, pretty disappointed.

We went on a camping trip. Just a tent site with the family for the weekend. Everything was above average in regards to a camp site. We had access to a fire pit and BBQ. Lots of grass area to pick a good tent spot.
Major downer was the bathrooms. My wife and girls were disgusted by the site. We understand the occasional bug or two but this was dead or dying bug city. What made matters worse was the fact that they ran out of toilet paper Saturday night.
I figure that when the marina goes in in July 2010 and if they really take a hard look at bathrooms this can raise my rating to more stars.

Prior to 2007 if you had asked me about Hidden Cove I would have been raving. But the honeymoon is over!
Prior to 2007, I could come and go as I pleased and the staff was nice enough to give me the «night combination» to the gate since the park closed at 10p and I frequently didn’t return back until after that time.
In 2008, they started charged the overnight rate ($ 10/​person), basically the fee for camping over night, to boaters wanting to leave after hours.
Also in 2008, excessive rains caused the lake levels to rise and closed almost all of the boat ramps except… Hidden Cove. Despite my suggestion/​request for an express lane for long time seasonal members… I had to wait in line like everyone else.
This meant over an hour during peak times to launch and recover your boat. Equally frustrating there was no enforcement of using the ramp for launching and recovering. So you’d have some jackass taking up a ramp lane to load his gear and family despite signs saying to load prior to launching. On a few occasions, they allowed someone to take a ramp lane to fix their boat as well.
The last straw was paying the overnight fee and the code being wrong. I had to leave my truck and boat overnight and get a friend to give me a lift home.
Starting in 2008, I used Stewart’s Creek to launch and recover my boat.
Of note, they are building a marina at Hidden Cove and JT’s Boat Rentals has moved on to another location as well.

Packed up the kids and every necessity known to man and drove 5 minutes down the road to Hidden Cove Park. Got there and grabbed a covered picnic table 5 feet from the water. Unpacked every necessity known to man. Had a great day. The park is pretty clean. In fact, park employees came around and handed out trash bags. Pretty cool.
I predict we’ll spend a lot of time lakeside this summer.
