Ritter’s Frozen Custard – Frisco

Love this place. The food is made when you order it and the custard has become a family favorite. The staff is super friendly. Happy to have them in the neighborhood!

Custard is the best around by far. The burger is good too. I was curious as to the meat after cooked weight. The burger looks smaller however I weighed it against a single burger from Whataburger. The burgers were identical in weight. Just looks like the burger from Whataburger is so much bigger the way the flatten it out so much. Whataburger does have a huge bun. I think they feel if you flatten the burger it gives the impression it’s so much bigger. I guess some consumers actually fall for this cheep presentation. I liked the taste of Ritters burger very much. You can actually taste the meat. I ate the Whataburger too. Must say it tastes good but I could not identify the flavor of the meat, just all the stuff they put on it.
I will be back to Ritters many times. Loved the crinkle fries too!

Burgers are really good and if you like crinkle cut fries you’ll love these. I haven’t tried the ice cream yet.
Service very good
Only complaint is get some real tea in here. No one is fooled by that fake dispenser
I would come here twice as often if they had real fresh brewed tea

Recently opened in far north Frisco off 423 near the Little Elm town limits, Ritter’s is unique to immediate area, though very similar in concept to its competition, Culver’s, Freddy’s, etc., both of which aren’t very far away around the new Nebraska Furniture Mart area in The Colony.
First, the bad. They say your success is based on 3 things: location, location, location. Well, they didn’t succeed. Yes, they have a location that isn’t served closely by any of their competitors, but where Ritter’s is requires entry via one of two ways: one, to drive around it and came in through the back, or two, drive through a lot of construction. Then, once you reach Ritter’s, there is no parking in front of it. You either have to be handicapped, park in front of the Dental Café or park the complete opposite side of the small shopping center it is in. Not convenient at all. And, based on other reviews I’ve read, the drive thru isn’t very convenient either. You have to order at the window, then wait for your food longer than is typical at a pre-​cooked fast food joint.
And that’s just the logistics.
When I entered the restaurant, I was surprised at how big it was inside. Much bigger than a drive-​by on 423 would have you believe. It’s decorated almost exactly like a Culver’s, complete with an ice box full of pre-​packaged custard, cakes and pies, as well as TVs. It was a very clean restaurant, but I was literally the only person there. While that wouldn’t normally concern me for a local neighborhood place that is hard to get in and out of, it would bother me later when the one thing I ordered was wrong.
Price-​wise, Ritter’s is on par with its competition. Nothing offensive at all, though I’ve read the opposite in a couple of reviews. I’m beginning to think the «Dollar Menu» days have spoiled a lot of people in what they should expect for a certain amount of money. I spoke with the cashier a couple of moments and she indicated that their burgers were smaller in diameter, but thicker than most fast food patties. I ordered a cheeseburger, a large fries and a large drink. and paid a paltry sum of a hair over $ 6. Anyone complaining about that needs their expectations reset.
The cashier wasn’t lying. I received the burger and, while it was smaller in diameter and thicker than most places, I was more concerned with the fact that it was wrong. Sure, I can be picky about what is on my burger, but I, again, was the only human being in or around this place. The receipt was correct as well, so this was a fulfillment problem.
The order was quickly corrected though and I proceeded to eat my burger. It came across very homemade, which I liked. It was greasy, which I also liked, but even though the bun was a high quality and seemingly fresh one, it thinned out to almost nothing once the grease saturated it. Personally, I don’t have a problem with burgers like this, but some might. It wasn’t enormously flavor-​full, but it allowed me to taste the fresh meat, not a bunch of over-​seasoned meat. I really liked it. Though small, I was quite full after I was done.
I’m a sucker for crinkle-​cut fries, so having those available was a bonus. The size appeared small, but, again, after I ate them, I was quite satisfied. My only real food complaint was the drink. First, it’s a Pepsi shop, so it’s Pepsi products, which I love in a fountain, so it wasn’t a problem for me. However, I got tea, which appeared to be (and may have been) brewed, but having managed a restaurant before with pre-​bagged tea concentrate under the appearance of tea, that’s what it tasted like. And it also had a hint of lemon in it, which I do not like. I thought this was a pretty small complain though.
I want to try a couple of more things, including the hot dogs and custard. I was very happy with the cleanliness of the restaurant and the freshness of the burger. Sure the fries were frozen, but everything came out to-​order and hot.
Overall, I will definitely be back. Take your kids after the soccer game! They’ll love it.

We eat here nearly every other week. They’ve been open for a few months at this location and they are becoming one of my favorite hamburger joints. We almost always have the double cheeseburger meal. The patties appear handmade and are thick in comparison to many burger spots. The sauce they use is excellent and the veggies are always fresh! The fries are sort of boring crinkle cut standard fries. Nothing special about them and they are not seasoned. I’ll probably go for the onion rings next time. The only downside to this restaurant is the drive thru. It’s not a traditional drive thru. You don’t order until you get to the window. Once you do get to the window it’s a slower process than most people are used to.
Our solution is to call in the order. We place the order and it is usually ready in 5 – 10 minutes. So we just pull up to the window and are immediately on our way!

Food was just OK. Nothing to write home about.

Brand new place that just opened down the street from me, so I figured I’d give it a try. The staff was exceptionally friendly and knowledgable, slightly surprising since they’re from up north they knew their menu well and let us sample the fresh chocolate custard that you can see yourself being made. Pretty creamy and cold and I don’t even like chocolate ice cream! We ordered just the standard burger and fries with cheese. It wasn’t anything too special but it was still good. Didn’t taste frozen and wasn’t dry or greasy. The fries were just that, fries. I also got the raspberry custard which was very good I have to say! I will go back just for the friendly atmosphere and if I’m looking for just a burger and fires. Hope to eventually try other menu items.

The staff was very friendly — but unfortunately the frozen custard was terrible. It must have been several days old. Horrible consistency — chunky — not at all smooth and creamy like it’s supposed to be. Custard should always be served fresh.

Tried this restaurant and I am so glad I did. My daughter and I went thru the drive thru and ordered the cheeseburger combo, the kids burger combo and a strawberry custard sundae. All was delicious ! The food was made fresh and the custard was huge with tons of strawberry toppings. Kids burger was a bigger than expected and my daughter is super picky when it come to burgers but she said it was very tasty. Drive thru worker was very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend it !

Paid $ 7.01 for a burger, fries and sweet tea. Staff was friendly. Burger was small, had no flavor. Fries were hard and one of them was cold. Tea was flat and had no flavor. Will I go back… probably not.

Good flavor burger. Ritter’s sauce has nice much to it. Also had pistachio custard. Really flavorful. Kid size perfect to go with burger and skip fries and drink.

Have been back twice now for burgers and ice cream. The kids love this place! Great new burger joint.

Burgers were good, and all is made fresh, not frozen. Fries are edible, but nothing to write home about. Fountain drinks and plenty of condiments. We tried the custard, and talk about options… way too many to list here, but they have both fruit and candy options in addition to gelato and Italian ice.
Place is father and son owned, with lots of kids working from the area. Good service (register is a bit slow and limited) and food over all. If I was to take off a star, it would be for ½ on fries and register time. Other than that, all was great!

Food order was wrong, but they made it right. Burger was flavorful, bacon was minimal and limp, the Ritters sauce is good. Better explication of the menu at front counter would be nice… My kiddo liked the Italian ice. Still in opening phase, maybe we’ll try again.

There is nothing special about the actual food menu here. The burger was at least fresh but small and nothing all that special. The fries were just so so. There is nothing wrong with the food just nothing all that unique or different from other fast food type sit down places either.
The custard is better than double dip imo. It is rich and smooth and my kids liked it. We will probably try the Italian ice as well.
Because it is close, we might eat it in a hurry but it will not be a craving.

Custard is good, literally half the price of Double Dip and even cheaper than Pacugio’s for those comparing this to other ice cream treats. Custard here is the star of the show, I read they started doing burgers in 2012 so didn’t try that or any of the hot foods like fries and burgers.
Nice thing is the custard also changes flavors daily — I tried the vanilla, rocky road, choc Peanut Butter with great satisfaction!
Would definitely return!

Image not the actually size let me start out by saying I am not on a diet even if I was there is no way in HELL I would ever want a meal as small as the one I just got especially for what I just paid. If you haven’t tried Ritter’s off of 423 don’t waste your time. Please let me say it again do not go here even if you want to try something new. I can’t save everyone but for those that actually listen you would thank me. Has no flavor on burgers and fries the drink is flat. This was by far the worse experience I’ve had at a fast food restaurant at least at the other fast food restaurant when they get my order wrong at least I get an adult size meal. WTF#worsefoodever!!! I think they need to rename their burgers and call them sliders. Wow I just paid $ 11.00!!!
