Sci-Tech Discovery Center

Okay, this place is small but it’s only $ 8 a person. My 3 year old had a blast with the butterfly maze, building areas, bubble section (they have soapy fluid bins and big wands), and the various golf ball apparatuses. They also had a nice demo showing the principles of air (Bernoulli’s Principle). We stayed over 2 hours so it was well worth the low entry fee.

Great option if you live further from Dallas/​Perot museum. Took 2 kids (6&9) and we spent almost 3 hours there. While it may be a smaller facility, there is plenty to do and explore. However, I would suggest since so many things are hands on and kids like to touch everything-​things should be cleaned a bit more. (Lysol spray anyone?) it’s not a bad price and they let you bring your own snacks to refresh the kids, I’d recommend it for an every-​so-​often trip.

I do not recommend this place. I have three kids ages 7,6, and 5. A lot of the stations are broken and the staff isn’t friendly at all. It’s dirty and over priced

Recently updated some exhibits, with the more popular ones still there. Their storytime is the best there is – the kids actually learn something (as opposed to most library/​bookstore story times).

Went back recently and the exhibits have changed. I didn’t realize they switched them out, which is awesome. More sports oriented and great fun for my toddler.

Very educational for kids and even adults!
However, they never really «update» and upkeep this place. Most of the informational TVs are not working, things look old and never refresh, lack of supervision… a little stinky too

At $ 8 a kid, I would say it was fine. The kids (5 & 9) were entertained for over two hours, which was nice in a hot day. I even hesitate to leave this review, since it was so nice and empty the morning we were there. The kids loved the centrifuge ride and the hands on activities. It isn’t the Perot, but it is closer, less expensive (free parking!), and not crowded. It is a great place to take your kids on a hot afternoon to let them get a little energy out.

Went with a group of moms and our 2-​ish year olds. Even with young toddlers, this place was great! We happened to come on a day and time that coincided with preschool story time, which was engaging and included making a craft at the end. Our littles got to make their own maracas with plastic eggs, beans, and stickers. It was a fun little activity related to the «sound» theme of story time.
The space has plenty of activities for kids of all ages to engage with. Very hands-​on (the way science is supposed to be). Some of the stations were a little too «big» for young toddlers, but there were many that our kiddos enjoyed. There are stations to make bubbles, a large foam building station, lots of physics-​themed activities. The current exhibit was about spinning, and it had plenty for the kids to observe and manipulate.
Overall a good use of $ 7 and a couple of hours of the day. It was a bit crowded, as there was a bus full of kids on a field trip there while we were there, but the manager said that during the school year it’s not quite as crazy. I’d definitely come back to check it out again in the fall.

Great place to take younger kids. A one year pass for a family of 4 costs $ 80, while a visit for a family of four costs $ 28. My 4 & 5 year old sons really enjoyed it.

I’ve been here several times, and each time I have had a very pleasant experience. They have recently changed exhibits, the new one is an educational, interactive farmers market type setting. The staff was very helpful and explained both the experiments and the exhibit in a kid friendly way. I have been to the Perot, it is neat but the drive from Frisco takes a while, the price is much higher, and it is sometimes crowded. I’ve found Sci-​Tech to be more interactive, not to mention it is closer and more affordable. They also offer programs such as story time, story time adventures, homeschool programs, summer camps, and other programs I have heard great things about. Overall a great place!

This is a great place to have kids interact with science exhibits. For the 3 to around 12 year old age range the place offers an array of displays for fun and discovery. The front area has a table with bubble water and tools, next to that is an area with a heat activated camera. There is a farmer’s market area designed to encourage kids to buy/​sell food, along with an apple tree that kids can put apples into and they come back out at the bottom. Another area has a mock house, with a full size washer and dryer! My kiddo spent some time loading and unloading the laundry. In that section the kids can put on a cape and rainboots for a good photo op. For the older kids there is a small science lab-​ish area where they can learn about solar energy and water power. Toward the back of the space I saw a party room and then an actual Smart Car that kids can play in. Also in that area resided a recycling center with conveyer belts to place plastic and metal recyclables.
One section has wooden plank toys, with one being a pulley system. For the mini-​engineer this was a WONDERFUL area to teach about using machines in daily life.
Even though the space is in a warehouse and is one giant room, they still did a good job of sectioning off the displays. I had the double stroller and had no problem navigating around.
It was around $ 7 per person, 2 and under were free. I thought for the price it was a fun place to hang out and let the kiddos explore.

My kids have enjoyed Sci-​Tech Discovery Center for years now. They spend hours playing with the sneezing nose and learning about spit from The Grossology exhibit or playing with the Thoughts Flow water table. I love that I can turn them loose and let them explore at their own pace and the staff is truly wonderful. My 13 year old would go every weekend and now my older one volunteers.

My children are ages 3 and 5 and we visit Sci-​Tech Discovery Center on a regular basis. The stem based program for preschoolers is incredibly tailored and always includes a hands-​on activity craft that they get to take home. We have a family membership and receive discounts to summer camps and other events throughout the year. My daughter loves the Keva Plank table and my son likes that he can touch nearly everything in sight. It is a very child friendly museum that changes exhibits several times a year so we enjoy learning about science in many different and exciting ways. Go early for storytime because it gets packed and if you ask a staff member about the Sci-​Tech pet snake they will bring him out for a very up close encounter.

This place is a great place for kids! Learning about Science and Math is always fun RIGHT!

Went here with my son to a birthday party, but been here before for a regular visit.
It’s not very big and for the price it’s not the best.
They did a decent job for the birthday party. This one was rocket themed, so they did three experiments with the kids. First they built a paper rocket and then launched it from a air-​pillow — the kids had fun, but you can buy something like that at Walmart for $ 5.
The second experiment was better. They took a little film capsule, filled it with water and added alka-​seltzer, then quickly closed it and put it on the ground on it’s cap. Watch it explode to the ceiling. The kids were thrilled.
For the best experiment they took us outside. Three bottles of diet coke and three ingredients, ending in the famous mentos and diet coke experiment. The kids were thrilled (and so were the adults).
Then back inside for the cake (extra cost) and the pizza (extra cost) and half an hour of playing afterwards.
Altogether a fun party for the kids, but I’ve seen the prices they charge for the parties and it’s not worth that.
So, if you like science and live close by, maybe it’s worth a visit. But if you have time, make the rive to the Perot museum instead!

Zero stars is not an option, 1 is over rating it. Not worth the price of admission seriously. As a parent who takes their kids places every weekend this one is on the bottom of all places I have gone.
