Unrefined Bakery

Now I am a major dessert lover and I am obsessed with butter. Unrefined Bakery satisfies my sweet tooth with their jumbo cupcakes. It also makes me feel better knowing they are organic, vegan, gluten free. I don’t feel bad after polishing a whole one off! I can scarf one down in peace without the calories, and all of that other stuff tap dancing around me.

Wow! What a lovely bakery. I wish I would’ve known of sooner. They have so many options for different allergies– more than any other place I’ve seen in DFW.

Again, there hours are never correct!!! Their voice mail is wrong and online hours are wrong!!! Get it together unrefined!

I love this gluten free bakery. The carrot cake is gluten free, dairy free and amazing. If you love chocolate and you love peanut butter, then you’ll love the loaded monkey. Yum. I would also highly recommend the vanilla. It sounds basic, but it’s so moist. This bakery is creative and showcases a different cupcake each week like blueberry basil. I wish they only had more flavors, so I could try them all.

‘Organic & gluten free’ usually makes one think of something that tastes sugar and flavor free. Not the case here. The cupcakes are massive and at 4 bucks a pop, they should be. There’s not an overloaded glob of frosting as is the selection of many other cupcakeries in the area, but the amount of frosting serves just fine. I will say that the cupcakes indeed live up to the name, they taste unrefined and gritty. This isn’t a bad thing if you can get past the texture because the flavors are awesome. You taste chocolate, strawberry, and lemon with no nasty or weird aftertaste. I enjoyed it.

2 stars because they were polite. but the food was extremely bland. I had to keep adding to the smoothie to make it drinkable. They didn’t have much variety when I went & the «cupcakes» tasted like Cardboard. Not to mention they’re very overpriced. My friend did not like any of his items either. Will not be going again

I got 6 different cupcakes here for dessert for dinner with friends. They all tasted delicious. Customer service inside was excellent too! Definitely a 5 star

Love this place and so glad they are close to my home & work. The treats are amazing! You would never know the cookies or cupcakes are gluten free and/​or dairy free. I’m so glad to find a place to get my sweet tooth fix AND keep my stomach issues at bay.
The super awesome snack mix is a MUST! Regular or spicy — it’s all tasty and everyone loves it at my office.
Lastly, the prices are very reasonable and that’s a great incentive for everyone to come back often!
Definitely my go-​to place for cookies for the kids now… they LOVE them and that’s the true test of ANY bakery!

Oh my!!! The carrot cupcake is sooooo very good… I want to marry it and live happily ever after the iced coffee has coffee ice cubes in it. Just did a 17.5 hour workday and the coffee is bringing me back to life. I stumbled across it by accident… it was meant to be…

We had the velvet cupcake, a coconut spice cupcake, and a chocolate cupcake to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. They all tasted delicious! Not too sweet, but still yummy. I don’t like it when desserts have too much sugar, so this was a pleasant delight. They have a hot chocolate that wasn’t a huge hit of my 8 year old son. But, I liked it. It could’ve used just a tad bit more sugar. They use dark chocolate and coconut milk.

This place is amazing! I don’t typically spoil my little cousins with sugary sweets but today was one of those days. My 10 year old cousin is allergic to so many things, eggs, gluten, nuts, etc. I’ve been longing to find a bakery to accommodate his needs, but sadly I always resort to buying something boxed and gluten free from the store. I was so excited to find unrefined bakery! It is the place to go if you or someone you know has allergies! My cousin was so happy with the presentation of his chocolate cupcake and he says its the best cupcake he’s ever had! Yes it’s a bit pricey, but definitely worth the smile on that little boys face!

Beware! This place is dangerous! You may walk out with LOTS of tasty treats!
These guys make treats that are delicious and food allergy friendly. I can’t process gluten or dairy without painful consequences, so to have a place that makes goodies for someone like me is amazing.
Only Suggestion: Make a location in Mckinney closer to my home! :D

Great place to please your sweet tooth. Big variety of cupcakes. We tried the carrot cake and some kind of rice crispie special. Both were very good and we will probably be back. At $ 4 per cupcake, well…

This is our go to place for cupcakes now. It is located in a crowded strip mall and is a great addition. They offer different types of cupcakes with different levels of «FREE-​ness» Everything is gluten-​free, and from there, you can get soy-​free, dairy-​free, paleo and vegan.
The flavors are great, and we have gotten a cake for a birthday here before, which was expensive, but not over the top. It tasted good as well. The inside has few places to sit and does have shorter tables for little kids.

I have always meant to try this place and finally got in the other day. The guy at the counter was friendly and explained everything from the breads, to muffins, to snacks that they carried and the listed ingredients in them. I even sampled the different breads and chex mix they had on the counter.
I ended up walking away with the lovely banana walnut muffins, the apple cinnamon bars and a strawberry cupcake. I cannot rave enough. The muffins (which are kept refrigerated but can easily be warmed up to better suit your taste) are moist and yummy. My cupcake was not overly sweet and still great. The apple cinnamon bars were a great pick me up when I am at work.
Definitely will be keeping this gem of a place on my list for goodies.

Back for more. As In we came here two days in a row. Dallas seems so progressive in accommodating people with food allergies and this place shouts that proclamation by default. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the cupcakes here and on day two, we bought a banana walnut cake to bring back to Minnesota. It didn’t make it home intact. It was exceptionally good.
The gals working behind the counter were super! One gal in particular, whose name I should have written down for a proper kudos, was not gluten or dairy intolerant. However, she was knowledgable enough for the masses to answer our questions.
They serve coffee and fancy coffee drinks as well! I myself am typically a plain coffee drinker (boring) and rate the coffee well above average. My wife enjoyed her lattes as well.
So, here’s how it plays out. They have lots of options in their treats. Gluten Free, Egg Free, Dairy Free, Paleo, Organic, and Non-​GMO. Hmmm, did I miss something? No, nothing is money free, but you can get on their mailing list. Also no, their goods are not free on taste. These baked goods rock!

The cupcakes are delicious. I’ve also tried their pizza crust and it’s wonderful. I can hardly tell their products are gluten free! I don’t even have any personal allergen issues that need to be met, but I come here often. Highly recommend.

My daughter has a ton of food allergies so we came here for her.
What we liked:
–Lots of options, catered to all different kinds of diets e.g. paleo, vegan, dairy-​free, etc
–At $ 4/​cupcake, that sounds steep but the portions are pretty large — their cupcakes are larger than Sprinkles, which are pretty huge so I think its priced appropriately
–They have a kiddie table for little ones which we appreciated
–They let you sample a lot of things so you can decide on what you like.
What we didn’t like:
–I know one reviewer raved about their coffee but ours wasn’t so great. Maybe the lady we got was new, but she couldn’t even tell us what coffee they had on drip. She just said, «Oh, it’s our organic coffee». What kind, and from where!!! She didn’t know. She also didn’t even know how to use the cappuccino machine. Seemed to me like their baristas need more qualification.
–I know I said previously that $ 4/​cupcake is decently priced here, but I would actually prefer for the cupcakes to be smaller, simply because I felt like after i finished one, I had eaten an entire meal. It’s really filling. So maybe $ 3/​cupcake and make them a smidge smaller?

Let me start out by saying — PERFECT coffee. Amazing. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ stars! Get coffee here. I got a cappuccino with carmel and coconut milk… perfect temperature, perfect taste.
I didn’t like the cupcakes. (The frosting was on point, however the actual cake part. YUCK!) It tasted like a corn muffin. :S Mix the fruit in with the cake, and if you want to inject it in the middle as well… go ahead!!! But MIX MIX MIX!!!

My husband is lactose intolerant and this is the perfect place for him. We had the amaretto raspberry cupcake. It was delish for being vegan. A little pricey but will definitely come back.
Update: just tried their loaded monkey smoothie. The ice in it was chunky and it was too thick. It was hard to drink. I provided that feedback. They acknowledged that they’re working out the kinks with the smoothies. I would have liked them to say that they would refund our money. That would have been great customer service. For that, I have deducted 1 star.
