I took my 3 daughters there for the first time and we were blown away! The food is excellent, the service friendly and the place is very clean. We will definitely be back! The Smokey Wrap Plate is amazing!!!

This place is very clean and staff is friendly. Food is excellent! Everything was hot and fresh. Wings had great flavor and tenders were perfectly breaded, unless you like extra crispy. Fries were a bit soft but I like them that way. We will definitely be back!

Chicken is baked and not fried in grease which is good. Nothing too special but still tastes good with their nice dipping sauces. The dipping sauces are what makes the chicken delicious. Try it

Almost immediately after posting my initial review i was contacted by the owner of Slim Chickens who apologized for the substandard drive thru service I experienced. He explained that that they indeed had a short period where they were having issues with their drive thru crew but have since identified the problem and took measures to fix their shortcomings. He then invited me to come back and give them another chance to personally see how things have been rectified. Ok so just for the simple fact that you have a business owner that cares enough for his customers to reach out and personally apologize speaks volumes for his character. For that alone i would have given him another star, so on his request I recently returned to Slim Chickens to give them another try in hopes they truly did return to the awesome restaurant I remembered when they initially opened. First let me apologize to Slim Chickens for taking so long on taking them up on their invitation to return and give them another try as i have been in and out of state on business these last few weeks. But to make a long story short last weekend I ran through the drive thru and ordered a Slims plate, a chicken and waffles plate and a chicken salad. All i can say is it was awesome, the chicken was freshly cooked and moist. In addition the salad was made up of fresh and crispy lettuce and the chicken was similarly freshly made and moist. If you have not yet tried Slim Chickens or are on the fence to try them for the first time I would strongly recommend you do. Although don’t be surprised if the parking lot and the drive thru is packed because this restaurant is now firing on all cylinders and the word is out that this is the place for delicious freshly cooked chicken spearheaded by awesome customer service.

I wasn’t too impressed to be totally honest. I mean, you can’t throw a rock in DFW and not hit a chicken joint. Slim’s is just average when compared to more local places or even better chains(Cane’s, I’m looking at you). The chicken portions are a little on the small side. The house(slim) sauce is kinda gross, almost like a tangy ketchup or something. I also felt like the food was a little over priced for what you get. We avoided going inside since the place was a madhouse(had just opened a location on Tarrant Pkwy in Fort Worth) so we opted to wait it out via the drive thru. The service was decent– line went pretty quick and the person who took the order was patient since it was the first time we we seeing the menu. There are decent kids menu items, which is always cool in my book. Maybe I need to go back and give it a second chance. It’s so close to where we live and it still seems to remain busy during peak hours– so people are staying interested(a good sign for sure). For now, three stars. A big, hearty«meh».

Have tried this place three times. I like the concept and there isn’t really anything like this in the area also I came again tonight. It was towards the end of close, but there were a few cars behind me as well. I ordered a chicken strip sandwich meal when the guy said«uhh with what?» Which I responded«with fries» which the menu said came with fries but he corrected me and said he meant to drink. Anyways, ordered, and say in front of the window for a good 7 mins. Maybe they were focused on closing up but they were still open. Received my food and it seemed the wait was bc they forgot about my food which you can see the bread is burned and the fries(after 7 mins I was sure they’d be fresh) were cold and you could tell they had been sitting under the lamp. A bunch of teenagers was exactly what I saw thought he drive threw goofing off. It’s a shame, If the staff could pay attention, they might have more business.

Cashier suggested the smokey cheddar chicken wrap. I got it with fried chicken and oh my god. I haven’t ate anything so mouthwatering this entire pregnancy. Comes with fries & drink for approx $ 9. Must try if you’re looking for a flavor-bursting meal from here.

Again, I wish there were ½ Star Ratings. This fast-food chain is a little better than A-OK. It’s a walk up, take order, and meal delivered to table type of setting. We ordered 2 of the Chicken & Waffles for my son and I and wifey got just a chicken tender basket w/fries and Texas Toast. The food is delivered to our table hot and fresh. The waffle is in the shape of Texas and there’s 3(lightly breaded & fried) chicken tenders on top. They’re buttered and have syrup already on them, but if you need more syrup, they’ve got bottles of Log Cabin nearby. I also ordered a side of Fried Okra since the Chicken & Waffles do not come with a side. I found the Belgian Style waffle fluffy and tender and the strips were done nicely as well. The fried okra was spot on. My wife said her Chicken Tenders were good, but they were also just run of the mill. They do offer a few different types of dipping sauces, which kills Cain’s limited(one type) offering. As far as fast-food chicken goes, this place is pretty darn good. I’d definitely eat here again.

Friendly staff… nice open place… and most important pretty good chicken. The Slim dipping sauce is yummy… I will have to try all the other sauces they have. I will make this my main place to get chicken. They have drive thru for fast come and go.

Quite impressed with the exemplary customer service & extensive menu of wings, chicken tenders, wraps & sandwiches. Your food is brought to the table for you(a huge plus), as well as having several different choices of sauces to use for any wings or tenders choices. There is a drive-thru here, so be wary of where you park in order to avoid getting hit. The front porch area has a good amount of seating, yet I didn’t notice if there were any heaters or fans for cold and hot weather months. Altogether, this venue is well worth the stop on N. Tarrant Pkwy.

We were greeted with great service; nice folks. The food wasn’t our favorite though. We wanted to try a little of everything so we got several things. The good: we liked the chicken, the peach fried pie and the ranch dressing. The okra was average. The bad: the fried pickles were overly salty and greasy, the slim sauce was unappetizing, the fries also had a strange taste to them and were not crispy, the garlic«toast» was really heavily buttered bread(it did not taste bad), the sweet tea wasn’t stellar either. My teens love Canes and I thought this would be a good change. However, the sauce, fries and tea are considerably better at Canes. We tried! I had high hopes for the pickles! ;)

My preference is more for fine dining, but my kids love chicken. It seems this area is well know for the many fast food chicken establishments, none I particularly care for. As we were driving by we noticed this location and of course my kids begged. I’m a sucker so we gave it a try. The décor is rather more warm feeling than fast food restaurants are traditionally. There is inside and out side dining. The selection was good. I was happy to see items such as potatoes salad(very sour creamy, but good), fried mushrooms, and fried okra. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Yummy! Some chicken tenders have to much breading, this was lightly breaded atop a fluffy Texas shaped waffle. Just enough butter and syrup! The staff are extremely well mannered and kind. I was impressed by their cheerfulness. I would eat here again. Bottom line: good, quick food

My second go at Slim Chickens and it was a lot better. I ordered the same items as before and this time… it was on point! Although, the Texas waffle is still small IMO, all other items compensated for this. The chicken tenders were extremely hot and tender. Cooked well with plenty of sides to curve my appetite. I was contacted by Max and he ensured me to give it another try. Excellent response from their leadership. I understood mistakes can happen and was willing to give another honest critique. Although, I was given a gift card, I never used it. My buddy bought the meal this time(I ended giving the gift card to a man who had no food on the streets). Better to give then receive. And for this… I’m giving Slim Chickens a 5 Star for customer satisfaction.

Chicken was very tender and good. Not a big fan of their French fries. I like the fried pickles but they were a little salty — and it wasn’t fully drained of oil. I will try their waffles next time. Good price for the meal.

This place is awesome! Wanted to check out this place m since I saw the sign when the store wasn’t even complete yet. I ordered the chicken and waffles… The waffle is in the shape of Texas which is pretty awesome! Comes with butter and maple syrup. The boyfriend ordered a chicken wrap. Both our chicken we ordered grilled. His wrap was delicious! I saw the fridge filled with desserts in mason jars and it was a must for me to get one. I got the strawberry cheesecake! The cheesecake part is cut into cubes which is at the bottom of the jar, strawberries in the middle, and cream at the top! Loved it!

This is our first visit to this place and we really like it. I am surprised to read some of the other reviews. The only thing I guess they maybe had issues with were opening day growing pains, but as of today everything was great! My husband ordered the chicken and waffles. He said it was hot and flavorful with perfect ratio of butter and syrup. I had the slims saad with fried chicken on top. The chicken was really good. Not too greasy. I saw others complain about the thin batter but my thought was WOW plump juicy chicken bites that are not just breaking! If you want mostly breading go to KFC or Popeyes! The ranch was also wonderful. I could tell it was certainly not bottled! The atmosphere was cool too. Sports playing on the big screens and very interesting clean line architecture. The tables were clean and not greasy like other chicken places. Overall it was a really good experience and we will be back!

So came here on a Sunday after church. Boy was it packed but not so much that I couldn’t get a seat. The turn around is quick! The girl at the counter was very patient and sweet while we looked at the menu. She even came out and went out of her way to ask if we needed anything.(I know it’s her job but she seemed like she cares so to me that’s what matters.) On the tab: Chicken and Waffles with Butter & Syrup on the side with their hot sauce. Three piece chicken tenders with their honey mustard with French fries. All the meals come with a drink so that’s nice. You can upgrade for very little but we got standard drinks. The food came out super quick. It was extremely hot but good. The waffle was airy but not crunchy which was disappointing at first but ended up being good because it wasn’t too dense and you could actually finish it.(This waffle was a normal waffle not like a cornbread waffle that some chicken and waffle joints have.) The tenders to me were actually good. I’m not a breading girl though, so I think that’s why it works for me. I tend to peel part of the breading off of tenders when I get them but didn’t have to today. I think there is just enough breading for the sauce to adhere to the tender. I’m ALL about the sauce. Honey mustard was okay. Nothing major. Not overly sweet or overly tangy which to me was a tad bland. The hot sauce was actually really good. Not too hot, in fact not really that hot at all but wasn’t overtly vinegary or buttery. Good balance. I really liked the peach tea. Sweetened but not overly sweet and doesn’t taste like fake peach syrup. All in all the food is like 3.5 but the service was nice so it gets the bump.

Nope. Not a fan. There are so many different chicken restaurants in the area i honestly don’t feel its anything special. Since we went opening day, there were plenty of people but we were able to get parking quickly. They had tons of employees and trainers on site to handle everything from menu distribution, drive-thru orders, cleaning the dining room, and helping out with general questions. The staff was patient and answered questions well. I ended up ordering a 5 for 5 plate(five wings, five tenders) and a chicken and waffle plate. My problems started when i place my order walked straight to my table where my family was sitting and our order of chicken and waffles arrived before i even sat down. I’m sorry, but if your restaurant mission is making everything fresh and to order(they even have it on Unilocal as an advert point), a flaccid lukewarm waffle and soggy tenders isn’t it. We accepted it because, hey, sometimes when they’re super busy they can churn out plenty of waffles and chicken and get them out to customers. In our instance it was not the case. One other thing that rubbed me wrong was the staff didn’t bother to explain that our chicken and waffles didn’t come with a side. I’m not complaining about not getting a side with that plate, i just wish it was stated clearer since we were wanting to try a little bit of what they were offering on their menu. It was listed on the take away menu in small print but with so much going on it was really difficult to notice at the time. When we received our plates I realized my error but normally most companies will point something like this to the customer especially if its new to the area and hey maybe offer to up-sell an extra side in the meantime. Their drink area was nice and kept up especially considering the crowd they had that day. Since i’m not a soda drinker they had four different options of tea(sweet, unsweet, raspberry, and peach). After a little while, our other plate arrived with the wings, tenders, a side of ranch, slim sauce, and honey mustard and a side of fried pickles(since i had wrongly assumed that the the C&W came with a side so we only had the fried pickles as a side at this point). The fresh tenders weren’t much better IMO than the cold ones. The breading was extremely thin(to the point of being non-existent) and there was not much crunch or flavor. They were juicy, but tended to be salty. The slim sauce was a no go. it was way too sweet. The other sauces were okay but nothing to write home about. I half wanted to use the bottles of Louisiana hot sauce they had by the drink section but I just had too much salt going on at that point . The wings were the best thing we ate there. They arrived hot and nicely tossed in buffalo sauce(medium). They reminded me of a pluckers wing but slightly less crunchy. Regardless they actually had a good flavor and were a nice size. The side of fried pickles were a complete no go for our table. They arrived hot and crispy with a nice breading, however the pickles themselves had an odd flavor and were also way too salty. We had someone come and ask us how everything was during our first bite but was otherwise left alone or i may have addressed the issues at the time but we didn’t really have too much of an opportunity the rest of the time. Otherwise, they had tons of employees on hand which made everything seems to flow well in terms of getting customers moving through. There’s plenty of parking. Seating is plentiful inside and out and they have some large screens around the dining room so you can watch the game, etc. My meal was to me underwhelming and I’d honestly be reluctant to come back. There are a lot of chicken businesses in the close vicinity that i know and enjoy. Cool Side note: the waffles comes in the shape of the Lone Star state!

Ordered the 3 piece Chick combo with mango habanero dipping sauce at the drive thru. Food came it relativey quickly and the staff was friendly, as to be expected for a new restaurant. Got home and opened my box within 5 minutes and was disappointed at the size of the chicken strips. But all is not lost, the quality always supersedes the quantity(although I’d prefer a combination of both!). I quickly got onto it and took a bite of the chicken, it was pretty tender, but nothing out of the ordinary. The batter was almost non existent, which might be healthier, but the chicken is still deep fried anyway. The fries were well seasoned, and the Texas toast was a little over buttered in my opinion. The mango habanero dipping sauce was pretty good, wasn’t overly sweet and had a good kick to it. Lastly, my meal came with a drink, so I ordered a soda to wash down the grease, but they put way too much ice in it, because I was finished with it after a handful of sips. Overall, I’m not impressed by the chicken strips, and probably won’t order it again, but they’ve got other stuff, so I’ll try them before I give my final verdict.
