Dice House Games

I really got into the Lord of the Rings and Star Wars living card games over the holidays, and have been looking around localish game stores near me (Northeast LA /​Glendale /​Pasadena) for expansion packs for both, and while finding some packs for Star Wars wasn’t an issue, finding the larger expansion packs was and finding any Lord of the Rings expansions (which are necessary to play the AP quests) was impossible (1 lone «In The Land of Shadows» saga expansion being the exception). In doing some research for stores outside of Los Angeles, I found this gem! A quick call confirmed they had what I was looking for and the hour drive was so worth it! HUGE selection of Fantasy Flight games and products (best I’ve seen by far at over 10+ LA-​area stores), and I even found two box expansions that FF hasn’t printed in awhile (and are going for more than a pretty penny online because of it) for not online their retail value, but 10% off! Their board game selection was also great, and if you’re into Magic the staff seems knowledgeable (overheard a conversation going on between staff on deckbuilding for the Modern format during my visit). Speaking of the staff, they were very nice, laid-​back, and helpful when I needed them to be; one of my biggest complaints about a lot of gaming stores (new to LCG’s but not gaming /​collectible cards) is the staff can either bad (un-​knowledgeable, inattentive, unprofessional, etc.) or what I call nerd-​jerks, throwing their insane amount of knowledge on a particular subject in your face instead of using their nerd-​powers for good. I mis-​identified a Lotus Petal as a Black Lotus (unforgivable in the MtG world) as I was paying, and when I instantly realized my mistake the guy just laughed and made a joke about how he wouldn’t be working at a game store if he had multiple black loti (the correct plural of lotus?) All in all a great experience; I would say I’m going back for all my future gaming needs, but I bought so much product while there, I’m not sure how long it’ll be before I actually have to make the trek out to Fullerton again :)

My boyfriend and I were having lunch and we noticed this place nearby. Since we both really enjoy board games, we decided to walk over to take a look after our meal. This place offers so much! They offer a wide array of games that cater to different audiences. You will definitely find family-​friendly board games, European strategy board games, book-​based games (Game of Thrones), dice games, and card games. The store also sells board game mats, card holders, all these different colored dice, collectibles, and even game guidebooks. There are tables and chairs for people to come and play games with each other, too.

This place rocks. Lots of hard to find games and great pricing. Tuan and staff take great care of their customers. Great place to buy or play your favorite games including Magic the Gathering.

Absolutely my favorite board game store. I’ve been to other stores that carry board games and will have a decent amount of games because a majority of the store is geared towards Warhammer or comics, but Dice House is one of the few places that have alot of board games. We can usually find a board game that we already know we want and find many more that we didn’t know we wanted. It can be very bad for our wallets in terms of wanting everything.

This place is amazing! My boyfriend and I come here to buy new games, and to try some out. It’s a great atmosphere, and the owners are incredibly nice. The only think I wish was different was their hours, I wish they were open later. (:

Amazing selection, fantastic location and super friendly and knowledgable service. I have been to many game shops over many years in many states and i can say without hesitation Dice House Games is the best place I’ve ever been to. It’s a great place to shop, play games, or just hang out and chat.

You know a game store is good when every time you visit it’s full of people gaming. The staff here are incredibly friendly and helpful. I just started gaming this past year D&D 5^th Edition and the staff and regulars here really helped me out with all of my gear and advice on where to go to find games and meet people.

These guys are great. If you have any questions they can help. If they don’t have something they will try to get it or tell you you they can’t get it and if they can’t get it you probably can’t find it any where. They offer 10% off of sticker price just for coming in.

I didn’t know anything about tabletop games till a year ago, when I watched Wil Wheatons show tabletop on Youtube. From then on I fell in love with tabletop games and I now have quite a big collection of tabletop games. Whenever I buy tabletop games I usually go to Frank and Sons collectible show, sadly they have a very limited selection. Two days ago I went on Unilocal and I looked up tabletop games and i found Dice House Games. When I came to the store I was amazed by how awesome it was ! I was also surprised about the size of the store, It reminded me of the Tardis in Doctor Who where it looks small on the outside but big on the inside lol. When I went in I saw a very wide selection of games and they sell some Magic cards and I felt like I was in Heaven. I was also greeted by a store clerk and was asked if I needed help which I felt was really nice ! What I also like about the store is that they have 10% off on their games which is awesome! I really like this store and Dice House now has a new regular customer lol. I recommend this place to anyone who likes tabletop games !
P. S. I went there to buy the game Epic Spell Wars and I really enjoy the game !

Just started MTG and this place was so helpful and friendly. Amos knocked it out of the park dealing with all my questions and helping me out. My new favorite place.

the owner is super cool. really nice selection. I’ve driven far out to Dice House because they often carry stuff I would otherwise only get online. Very good experiences both times I visited.

I remember going to Dice House a year ago and the selections were pretty limited. However, when I come back now this place has everything I want. I’m a huge board game fan and I was looking for the Marvel Legendary Fantastic Four which was starting to run out of print. Lo and behold Tuan has it and a bunch of more. Furthermore, Tuan told me that if I needed something that he can order a copy just for me. Excellent Service indeed!
Now onto the collection. He has a wide array of RPGs, MTG, Euro Board Games (Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, 7 wonders, terra mystica, agricola, etc.) and American Games (Arkham Horror, Descent, zombicide, Marvel Legendary etc.).
The best thing about this store are the demo games. The only other store that I know that does this is Board Game Empire in Pasadena but all of their games are worn away and the selection is limited. Here, Tuan gives you pretty much a huge selection of games and he lets you just hang out and chill. I saw family and friends playing with one another. Super cool!
Furthermore, Tuan is trying to promote board games and MTG as a whole with dedicated days. For instance, Sunday is board game day where patrons are encouraged to bring their board games or play with Tuan’s demo selection!
Overall, I’ve been to other stores like the Realm, Brookhurst hobbies and I think Dice House is the best. Tuan is the man and he’ll take care of your nerdy needs! :)

Gold! This place is the friendly neighborhood gaming shop that you have been looking for!

I came to this location on the suggestion of a friend of mine. We like to play board games with our Girlfriends and he said that this place had an excellent selection. The place does have a good selection, however the service I received for making a simple mistake was not good.
Here is what happened:
I went into the store to buy the game «Pandemic» (Which is an awesome game). I bought the game, got home, opened it up, and then realized that I had purchased the expansion of the game and not the original. Since it had only been about 15 minutes since I was there I called the store and told them I had purchased the wrong one and wanted to bring back this one to get the original.
The owner «Tuan» politely told me that he could not give me a refund because the shrink wrap was opened but would give me a 10% discount on the original. Unfortunately that is not good customer service. I wanted the original game, not the expansion, and I literally was there 20 minutes ago.
So Tuan — Not only will I not be coming back to your location, but my friend who has been a customer of yours for a while will not be coming back either. All because you couldn’t give a refund to a client who bought something 20 minutes ago and came back to exchange it with a receipt.

This is it, it has all the signs of being a great local game store. Great selection, great ownership and great customers. I’ve been coming here for X-​Wing tournaments since the beginning of this year and they have met and exceeded all my expectations. Not only is the staff great but the people that come here are too.
The selection is quite good considering the size and competitively priced for a retail store. I’ve purchased non X-​Wing stuff here as well and everything has been good.

I like this store, they have quite a selection of board games which is quite rare since most stores only focus on magic the gathering and a small amount of random things. So it’s pretty cool for me as I am more into board games.
When I pre-​order a game I don’t have any issues getting a phone call to pick up my game, even 2 sometimes which is pretty nice if I’m a bit busy and forget for some reason.
The owner is usually very friendly or if he’s pretty busy running a magic the gathering tournament at least is attentive when he has a moment. Also he can tell the type of people who want help and who just like to browse which is nice as well.
If there was any complaints it would be during the spring/​summer season it can get pretty hot which can suck but I think he got some kind of portable AC unit as of late.

This is gonna be long and detailed: you were warned.
Over the last year and a half my wife and I have gotten really into board games and hobby games. We love playing them and introduced our friends to them as well. Dice house seemed like a perfect spot for us. Tons of games and very clean. I however have a HUGE problem with the service at this location. The owner/​operator either seems to have a problem with us personally or just has a general lack of customer service. We must have been there 20 – 30 times and spent well over $ 400-​$ 500 on product and have yet to even be greeted when we walk in or approached to see if we need anything. Even when we are the only ones who are there when we enter. Although it doesn’t deter us from finding what we need (as we research what we need ahead of time) for any walk in guests who are out of their normal realm this is a HUGE deterrent to never frequent «these places» again. Be that as it may we continued to shop there due to their good assortment of games and I’d prefer to help a small business versus shopping online.
Lately our hobby has turned us into exploring Magic and we couldn’t be more excited. We headed down to Dice House to ask some questions on their events and maybe buy a ton of stuff. Our questions were given simple one word answers and we were made to feel like our newness to the hobby was beneath his interest. That was the last straw. Here we were, ready to start playing a game that LITERALLY has no end to the product available for purchase and the owner couldn’t even give REGULARS 5 minutes to explain how his events worked and help us with purchase options. Is sorting through the cards you purchase off others more important then making a sale? Apparently. I get that you own the place and don’t HAVE to do things like greet and be nice but it is definitely deterring people like us and scaring away people who are new to this realm of entertainment. If you don’t like to do it maybe hire a few people to work at the same time as you who WILL.
I have now begun shopping at another few shops (Card Addiction and Brookhurst Hobbies) and while the selection on other hobby games is limited they have just as much Magic product and FAR FAR superior service. On things I can’t get there I will pull from online rather then frequent Dice House. In fact the only time I will go to Dice House will be for events and to compete against other Magic players due to the fact that it is sometime hard to find those things with so few shops around us. Other then that I’m pretty much done with the place.
If you’re fine with great selection but PISS POOR service and friendliness DICE House is your place.

Decided to check out Dice House today as my wife and I were in the area. Walked in to a nearly empty store (it was around lunch on a Sunday so I wasn’t too surprised) which really allowed us to see how organized and clean the entire place was!
There are a bunch of tables set up in the middle for people to play games on as well as a decent-​sized rack of opened games you can demo; always a bonus. All the games were well laid-​out and easy to browse and their prices were very fair. In fact, there was a sale going on which everything that much sweeter. The person behind the counter was courteous and polite as well.
It may not have the staggering selection of STUFF that, say, Brookhurst does, but it’s no slouch in selection and is far more organized. There’s even a used RPG section (with a boxed copy of TORG!). The only thing it’s missing are miniatures and paints, but I suspect they’ve really become the niche of an already niche market unless you plan on devoting a giant section to Warhammer and War Machine.
We picked up two games and earmarked a few more for our eventual return because we’ll definitely be coming back! It’ll definitely be worth the trip.
EDIT: Looking at their photos, it looks like the used to carry miniatures before. Ah well, I’m sure the current board game renaissance helps make way more money per square foot which is still fine by me. Also, the front of the store looks very different than the first photo, which threw me off a bit.

The board game Eldritch Horror just recently came out, and I called all the board game stores near me to see if they stocked it. They had no idea what I was talking about, and they didn’t stock it. I called up Dice House Games, and the owner knew exactly what I was talking about and had it in stock. I drove out to Dice House Games, and not only was it displayed prominently at the front of the store, but it had 20% off. Incredible!
I have lived in Seattle, Phoenix, Colorado and Wyoming, and as far as game stores go (board games & RPGs), this place is a billion times better than any other gaming store I have been at. It’s neat and orderly, the inventory is very extensive, and the prices are very reasonable; I don’t feel like prices are being artificially jacked up like so many other gaming stores do.
This place is a dream come true, and if it wasn’t such a grueling drive (due to both distance and California drivers), I would come here often. As it stands, to get to the store is a bit of a trip for me, but I still plan on coming back at some point.
I’m not into TCGs, so I can’t vouch for that, but if you’re looking for board games or RPGs, then I strongly, strongly recommend this location.
