Over 25 years experience, USC Music degree, and an excellent program for beginners with detailed one-​on-​one instruction for developing the proper, fundamental techniques to becoming a successful player. A relaxed, fun atmosphere where we can apply these fundamentals to learn the exact music you want to play. 1000’s of accurate (self-​transcribed) transcriptions to choose from and also on-​demand transcribing when requested. For more advanced students, I specialize in theory, fretboard knowledge, scale application, chart reading, and improvisation in jazz, blues, rock and country. I also have a great program for classical guitar. I have a music teaching degree from Fullerton JC and a performance degree from USC School of Music. I perform 2 – 3 nights a week. Let my education and performance experience teach you the right way to play guitar whether you are a brand new beginner or a seasoned player. Feel free to call me with any questions!

I am new to guitar, and Erik has a great amount of patience during lessons. He takes his time teaching all of the building blocks, and never makes you feel inadequate as a beginner. I always feel comfortable and at ease during lessons. He is a great guy and a fantastic teacher! I highly recommend taking lessons from him whether you are a beginner or looking for a more advanced session. He is affordable and extremely encouraging.

Erik is a wonderful teacher! He is very patient and supportive of my 8 year old daughters guitar lessons and is always kind and fun. Erik Johnson is by far the best guitar teacher around. He is an extremely knowledgeable musician and patient teacher. His breadth of understanding in a variety musical styles and genres is unmatched. Whether you are interested in a complicated classical or jazz piece, or simply want to learn a classic rock tune or top 40 song Erik can teach you the skills necessary to attain your goals. Erik is skilled at teaching musical theory as well as a variety of technical and performance related techniques. He is a graduate from some of the most prestigious music schools in the country, he also has over 20 years of teaching experience. Erik has performed with and recorded with some of the world’s top musicians and well known recording artists.

Both my daughter and I have taken lessons from Erik for over a year. She is a skilled player and I am a beginner. Erik is an extremely talented guitarist and actually makes his living doing it. Yet, he is great with beginners like me. What I love about taking lessons from Erik is that he learns my interests and helps pick songs at my skill level that I will enjoy. And what is amazing is can listen to a song and write out the music for me by ear in just a few minutes. He’s a great teacher, patient, kind and an all around good guy. My son has been taking lessons with Erik since he was seven years old. Erik was willing to teach him when others were not; ten years later my son is a phenomenal player, and has had tremendous success in bands, at school and on his own. Erik is an outstanding instructor, extremely talented, and his rates are low (too low for the quality). I can’t recommend him enough.

Our family loves Erik! He was willing to take on our daughter at 8 where others were unwilling to! He has encouraged and supported her since the beginning. He is always upbeat, very trendy and fun! It is wonderful when your child looks forward to her lessons!
