We are so quick to offer criticism and rarely do we take the time to compliment good products. For the past 3.5 years I would wake up in the middle of most nights with terrible aches in my left leg and hip — sometimes it would keep me up for 2 – 3 hours. My mattress had been replaced only about a year ago and this problem still persisted. I remember sitting on my friends bed once and saying to her, «Wow this mattress is awesome.» She told me it was made by «Foam Sweet Foam.» My first thought was, «What a great name» and my second thought was, «I’ve never heard of them.» She told me they were an online order only company which was a bit funny to me as usually you like to test your mattress before buying since it is a big investment considering the amount of time spent sleeping on one. Finally after one sleepless night I told myself, «I have to do something about this.» I called Foam Sweet Foam and on a leap of faith, I talked to their customer service and they helped me choose a bed that was right for me. My layers from the bottom to the top are: Talalay XFirm, Talalay Firm, Talalay Medium, and then Talalay Soft and it’s PERFECT for me. Since my first night sleeping on this bed (it’s been since mid-​July) I have not woken up once with leg pain and my husband says it’s the best sleep he has had. For me, going to bed now is a joy not a dread. I can’t say enough good things about this mattress and company. If you’re not sure what is the right combination for you, call them and they will walk you through it! Heidi was a delight to work with and we appreciate her help with giving us the best sleep.

We are so glad we ended up buying this mattress. It’s a huge risk to buy over the internet but it was worth it. It took a few weeks to get used to it but now I find myself (a morning person) sleeping in all of the time and never wanting to get out of bed. I also used to think that my son’s bed was the most comfortable in the house. Not anymore. When you order make sure to also get the latex pillows. They are fabulous. It took a couple of days to get used to, but now I can’t imagine sleeping without it. Also, if you get a King sized bed you can have split layers just like the more expensive retailers.

This is every morning for me now for the past 6 months… I bought this bed after laying on a random latex bed at a store here in Austin and was blown away at how comfortable it was. Listening to the sales guy drone on about off-​gassing, chemicals, oil tyrants, world peace, etc — I nearly nodded off right there in the store. And so began my hunt for the perfect Latex mattress.
All of my weeks of digging around led me to Foam Sweet Foam. FSF’s website seemed the most straight-​forward and honest about the fact that you are buying a freaking EXPENSIVE mattress off the internet… Not a normal purchase. But after calling and speaking with some of the Sales Reps about my sleep habits and body shape, looking at reviews on Sleep Like the Dead, and perusing FSF’s own website I decided to pull the trigger and buy a 12″ Queen (Dunlop XFirm, Dunlop Firm, Talalay Medieum, Talalay Soft).
I’m 6’3 180 and typically wake up with some sort of back pain when sleeping on my stomach, or burning pain in my shoulder when sleeping on my side. I tried several matresses, and they would be good for a few months then inevitably you sink into a taco and the pain returns.
I will admit, the first week or two I had slight pain waking up and was worried I had made a mistake. I guess my body was adjusting to sleeping on a cloud because it is INSANE how comfortable I feel when I wake up.
I’ve had it for a good 6 months now and am extremely pleased. This is only the 2^nd review I have ever written on Unilocal and it’s because this bed has like a 30 year warranty and I don’t want them to go out of business before then. Seriously though, I had to write a review because I know I was very anxious about purchasing from an online retailer and just want to help out those who are in the position I was.
The only negative I have is that putting the bed together was a serious pain. I would absolutely recommend having an able-​bodied male there to help. As I said, I’m 6’3 180 and by the time I had my bed all put together upstairs (several hours) I was freakin exhausted. Now if only I had somewhere comfortable to lay…
EDIT: Reading other reviews did remind me of another negative (but not enough to remove a star), and that is the Latex smell. When you break the vaccum-​seal bags you will be able to smell it, and it is a strong rubber smell. It’ll air out within a day in a small apartment (~1100 sq ft), but if you immediately enclose the mattress layers in the cover and make your bed, you will smell it for weeks when you lay down. Definitely let the mattress layers air-​out after opening for at least a couple of hours and that should help. I eventually unzipped the mattress cover and folded the top layer back to let it air out for the day while at work. After washing sheets it was much better, but it still takes time.

For those of you may have tried a softer layer combination at a latex bed showroom, I want to share my experience. After trying a latex bed at Savvy Rest, I did some research online because Savvy is so expensive and you can’t return any layers! The bed I tried was the Soft Talalay, Medium Dunlop, Firm Dunlop and I thought I was in love. I originally thought I wanted a firm bed until I tried that combination. The soft Talalay felt so cozy in the showroom. When I found Foam Sweet Foam was selling the same mattresses at a significant savings, there was no doubt I was going with FSF! After speaking with Scott, I decided to order the same combination that I tried at Savvy. After a few weeks of changing layers around because I was waking up stiff, I realized I DID need a firmer bed. I ultimately ended up having to switch out the soft Talalay with an extra firm Dunlop. I now have medium, firm and extra firm all in Dunlop. I actually have the medium on the bottom, then extra firm, then firm. I love my firm bed! I may try moving the medium to the top layer now that I have 2 firm layers underneath, but for now, I am a happy customer! No more back pain! And thank you Scott, for your patience and customer service!

Let me just say that I don’t usually write reviews but thought that it would only be right to discuss my experience at the store. This review is purely based on my experience at the show room with the owner. When discussing the «sale» discount in the store and trying out the various mattresses, the owner said that the 30 return policy was really meant for people that buy the items online, but my belief is as a consumer that goes into the store I should still have the same right to exchange it within that time period. But as the owner tried to get us to spend more money on the more expensive brand instead of trying out the cheaper one first and then possibly exchanging (so he doesn’t have to deal with a returned item), he says that the price of these mattresses are too expensive for me because we were having a discussion about buying the cheaper one first and possibly exchanging later if necessary. Nobody has a right to make any assumptions about what an individual can or cannot afford. He was rude. and definitely not suited for customer service and if he wasn’t the owner, I would speak to the owner about his rudeness and awful comment. BE AWARE OF RUDE COMMENTS and HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE !

Let me start by saying I’m a type A personality. I spend hours researching products and trying to find the «right» people who not only present as honest and ethical but who follow through with right action.
As such, I began my journey looking for a mattress to replace my 25 year old one. Little did I know that the bedding industry had changed so drastically.
I realized I’d have to do a lot of research to educate myself on what was out there. I literally spent hours learning about the different materials used to fill these beds– from the toxic glues, polyurethane to whatever else is used that can cause off-​gassing. After speaking to many health practitioners, I decided to go with a pure latex bed. So, I went on line and read every review. Finally, I found Foam Sweet Foam. They’re rated A+ With the BBB and I liked the reviews. Being very anxious I called and spoke to the owner Scott a myriad of times. He was always patient and caring. You could say he has a great «bed“side manner. Because I couldn’t fly out to California to try out all the different configurations he had laid out in his showroom, he suggested I buy 3 layers of Dunlop (which is the firmer latex) in extra firm, firm and medium and 1 layer Talalay (which is the softer latex) in medium. I split three of the layers so if we needed to make changes it would be much easier to rearrange them.
On the day the latex bed arrived I was very nervous. I had two friends come to help my husband put the layers together. Being in our 70’s I thought the layers might be too heavy to handle. However, because I split the layers they were very manageable and the instructions were very explicit. Because latex has to be handled with care, I found some videos on U TUBE that demonstrated how to assemble the bed and we all watched them. It turned out to be a much easier process than I imagined. A day later, after sleeping on the bed my husband wanted his side a bit firmer. Rearranging the layers was a breeze and took only a few minutes. I literally can’t believe how much I look forward to going to sleep and NO back pain in the morning.
I feel so blessed to have bought from Foam Sweet Foam.

By the way, I also bought the pillow, literally the best pillow I’ve ever slept on. Just ordered 3 more.

My wife and I drove from Eagle Rock to Anaheim to visit the Foam Sweet Foam showroom two months ago. We were VERY impressed with the comfort and quality of their 15 inch latex mattress which consists of 5 individual 3 inch mattresses stacked on top of each other without glue. It was much more comfortable than the 12″ latex!
Had it not been for the EXPENSIVE price tag (even on sale) we would have bought it on the spot. The owner and the salespeople there are VERY nice, well informed and not pushy. Great company!
Since then I’ve been scouring the Internet (several states) looking for a company with a similar product at a BETTER price point. I finally found

I have waited 8 months after purchase before posting this review in order to give the «mattress» some time to «break in.»
Honestly, I am surprised that there is only 1 other review for Foam Sweet Foam. Perhaps the target audience for foam\latex mattresses are… more «traditional» and don’t use Unilocal?
Background: Purchased traditional mattresses (springs) from the larger mattress retail stores in the past and after 2 – 3 years, the mattresses would begin to leave a body depression or sag where one sleeps. Went through mattresses (varying from $ 1500 to $ 3000) that had built in pillow tops, firmer springs, all had the same issue way before the 8 – 10 years warranty.
The misses and I are of «normal» weight, okay, maybe a little over normal weight, coming in at 190 and 140. That’s in lbs not kg.
So upon doing some research, came across natural latex mattresses and how some people have them for 30+ years and they were still resilient. I researched and could tell you about Talalay vs Dunlop but that’s something anyone can Google nowadays if one is interested in a Latex mattress.
Showroom experience: 5 stars
The owner was the only one working that Saturday and was not pushy at all. No hard sales pitch, didn’t hover over or pressure us. Just showed us the beds on the floor, explained the firmness levels and let us try them out. Did not purchase the beds that day, as it was Day 1 of mattress hunting. Once again. no pressure or that feeling of guilt given that you wasted his time you get when leaving some of the larger retail stores.
Purchase and Delivery Experience: 5 stars
Went back a few days later, owner was the only one working again. Decided to purchase a California King Organic Dunlop 4 layer mattress with a cover. Easy in, easy out. Owner said he’ll deliver them himself 4 days later and sure enough, he was true to his word. I knew that latex mattresses were vacuumed packed at the factory, it was still surprising to see a delivery of a CA king sized mattress in a regular 4 door sedan, all in the trunk and rear seat.
Setup: 5 stars.
Believe it or not, I setup the CA King myself. It took about 45min but it can be done. Each «layer» probably weighs 35 pounds. Just make sure each layer is «centered» where you want it on the bed before cutting the plastic straps and the vacuumed bag before it expands. It is best to have a sturdy bed foundation to place the foam layers on, like a sleigh bed with narrow wood slats or even a big sheet of solid plywood. A regular metal bed frame might not cut it due to the weight of the mattress and will «shift» a lot. I won’t go into foundations here, since Google is your best friend as to researching which is «best» for latex mattresses.
There was a slight odor of … well, latex, but it dissipated within a few hours. Maybe the smell was from the plastic bag instead of the latex? Anyway it is definitely NOT as strong as tempurpedics foam. whose smell lasts for days, weeks, months. Huge plus just on the off-​gassing alone, and there was absolutely no smell after 1 day.
After 8 months, I can honestly say the bed has been great. There are no indentations or body impressions. Our backs don’t hurt after a nights sleep. It does not get «hot» like tempurpedic. It has been one of the better «investments» based on health alone.
Foam Sweet Foam is one of the best stores I’ve dealt with. A+ product and quality, 30 year warranty, mattresses delivered on time, and service was excellent.

First, I’d like to say that I purchased the 9 inch king mattress a year ago. Three layers of talalay (1 Med, 1 Frim, 1 x-​Firm). So I have actually slept on the mattress with my husband for a while. I do not live in CA, so I took a chance and purchased the mattress online.
Bottom line — It is the best mattress I have ever slept on. I miss it when I travel and have to stay in hotels.
Delivery/​Assembly — prompt. The mattress was received in two large boxes. The mattress layers were vacuum sealed, so they expanded immediately after opening the plastic. I am a small person and assembled the king mattress all by myself. It was HEAVY and difficult to manage (foam is floppy), but still probably more manageable than a typical spring king bed. Assembly of the bed took about 45 minutes, but I was still able to do it myself.
First impression — awesome. It was the best bed I’ve slept on and totally awesome. I got the natural latex and was expecting a completely orderless mattress… not so, there is a unique odor (not bad) associated with the latex.
A year later — still good, but some words of advice. After a year of sleeping on in (and a half year of sleeping on it with my husband), I think we need firmer foam layers. If you are a large person you will definitely want to get the more dense foam to prevent some sagging in the mattress. We did rearrange the foam layers, and that helped (btw, rearranging layers on a king is not the easiest thing). You are allowed to exchange layers to suit comfort level, but we did not have to. One of the great things about the mattress (other than softness!) is how latex prevents motion translation. If you share a bed with a restless sleeper, they will not bother you (unlike spring mattress).
1÷29÷2013 UPDATE:
There was a small fire at my apartment and I had to throw out my smoke-​damaged FSF mattress. I decided to replace the mattress with another FSF. This time I got 4 layers of 3 inch talalay. I am about 120lbs, husband is 230lbs and we got the following: 1 Medium, 2 Firm, 1 x-​Firm. Four layers are noticeably better than three. It is perfect! I didn’t think I could love this mattress more that I did, but I do. I’d go for 4 layers if your budget allows. Otherwise, 3 will be OK. My husband and I are convinced that it is the best mattress that we have ever slept on. I think the king size is a little bigger than the average king, which is a good thing because my husband can fit and he’s 6’5″ (normally his feet would hang over on a king little bit).
As for your bed frame… I’d recommend something sturdy, because the mattress is big and heavy (and so are we). I purchased an all metal frame from Room and Board with metal slats. It’s great. Pricey, but perfect.

Let me preface this with — I am not a casual shopper. My husband and I went to 9 different mattress stores before making our decision. I read every review, too many forums to count, and endless retail websites. So if I can save anyone the hassle of all that time I’d like to help.
After a couple months of toiling over what was the best mattress for us — we finished our search at foam sweet foam. They had the most natural, highest quality mattress for the best price and the best warranty. I decided on latex after being really turned off by the fumes synthetic foam gives off. I know people say it goes away but being a stomach sleeper I don’t want to be inhaling petroleum products 7 hours a night nor add to the environmental impact making that foam has. There are a lot of latex foam mattress dealers online. But being able to drive to the store and try the mattress out was important to us. I actually dragged my husband out to the store (from Long Beach) three consecutive Saturdays until I was ready to buy. We spent more than we originally wanted — but after all the research it was worth it. Foam sweet foam is the only mattress store that offers a 30 YEAR warranty, not prorated, for a ½″ of layer loss. Every other store I went to was 10 – 20 years prorated after 5 – 10 years (not something they will tell you unless you ask). And depending on the type of mattress it’s a ¾−1.5″ layer loss. The store itself doesn’t operate like the others as well — it’s the only one that didn’t feel like a care dealership. We weren’t babysat the whole time we were laying on the mattresses. There was no hard sales pitch — no sale ending that day that we would miss out on if we didn’t buy then and there. And of course most importantly the mattresses are really comfortable.
We brought the mattress pieces home and started putting it together. There was a small learning curve but not difficult. And it was kind of comforting to get to see all the layers and what the mattress consists of. We’ve slept on it a few nights now and are really happy. It’s a suportive and comfortable mattress that I know we will have for a long time — that won’t make us sick (which I read about petroleum based foams) and is more environmentally friendly.
That was my checklist and I’m really satisfied with the mattress we ended up with. Do your own research — and I bet it will lead you to the same place.
