Fullerton Marriott at California State University

This was my nightmare as I spent the Christmas week here. We have been Marriott’s «Elite» customers for many years, but have recently had to try new locations after Marriott’s closed our favorite (supposedly beneath their standards. More on this later) We check in and are told we supposedly understand the concierge’s desk is closed for the holidays, so we are to receive «free» breakfasts in return. We already had «free» breakfasts. But then, it takes them the next three days to figure out how to fill out these «coupons». Here’s the deal breaker: We discover we have NO HOT WATER the next morning. Long story short, we LOST A DAY OF OUR VACATION getting a room with hot water and moving. We were told we’d get a «better» room, then the next clerk said «the rooms are all the same» (in our size), and so on, until after 5 clerks and a whole day wasted, we were told where to move our stuff. I had gone to great lengths to reserve a fridge for our room; of course, no fridge. Breakfast is only served downstairs, so forget trying to save time. The next deal breaker: The glasses in the room had some very interesting white stuff sitting on the bottom??? The room looks like it hasn’t never been dusted. The ice bucket had been there since the motel opened and hadn’t ever been cleaned off. Towels? What towels? Some days a new one or two, some days maybe five! Blanket? What blanket? Who cares if the bed doesn’t fit the frame? It’s so old, they never noticed. Anyway, by the end of our stay, after being given all these «special» passes for «free» breakfast or items available, we wanted to pick up a few water bottles. We’d never stuck around for their so-​called breakfast, but had over $ 40 worth of free stuff coming. But of course, water isn’t covered under «free». How much is a totally wasted day worth to you, or no hot water with no concern? NEVER stay here is my advice.

I just checked in tonight. Starting a new job tomorrow and a bit nervous. The girls at the front desk, Joelle and Sasha were so so nice and excited for me. What a great welcome. I love this place.

For some reason all the marriott hotels near disney were super expensive! sure i guess i could have gone outside the box and stayed at some other hotel… not sure why i’m stuck in my marriott rut… but the points sure are nice!
anyways.we stayed a little farther away to save a few bucks… plus this is super close to The Bruery and i wanted to go have a few drinks on Friday night (instead of going to Disney)…
lobby is totally remodeled and elegant… really super cool! kinda felt like i was in the Tron movie.
rooms were apparently not done yet… they were tiny and very dated… beds were not comfortable (and they only had double beds… not queens)…ugh fitting 2 people on a double bed sucks!
the entire concierge level was shut down for remodeling… they gave us breakfast vouchers for each day of our stay… nice =) breakfast was very pleasant… not like residence inn or fairfield with the mob of people eating breakfast…
we had a nice table… food was buffet style, but was much nicer than most! tons of fresh fruit available!!! healthy options… and the food itself was good…
servers cleared our tables and brought us our drinks (juice, coffee, tea, water etc…).
all in all. very pleasant experience here… just not sure it was worth it driving in 20 min to disney… i may be back

The hotel is pretty solid. Things mostly worked properly. The front desk personnel were extremely friendly, and I spent two restful nights on the property.
I had the buffet breakfast in the lobby each morning during my stay. I was surprised and delighted that the buffet opens at 6AM even on weekends — I was in town for a conference that began at 8AM both on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The scrambled eggs seemed seriously artificial, but I enjoyed the oatmeal, the fresh fruit, the bacon and even the breakfast potato cubes. Our server was A-​OK (nice guy!) as well.
My room was a large suite with an accessible shower. This meant that the shower was separated from the rest of the bathroom only by a curtain; in other words, it was a walk-​in shower. It took forever for hot water to come to the shower head. (Presumably this had nothing to do with my particular room.) The result was a big waste of running cold water, which is not something that you want in a drought emergency situation. The real problem was that the running water had a good time walking out of the walk-​in shower and into the rest of the bathroom. Marriott needs to redo the floor so that it slopes toward the shower drain. Arguably management knows about this particular problem and will take care of it during the upcoming room renovations.

5 stars because of Nicole at the front desk. She is so friendly and approachable with a big smile and welcoming personality! I’ve only ever stayed at this hotel once before a few months ago but somehow she remembered me. The hotel itself is standard but I’ll stay here again because of Nicole. I hope the managers read this and give her a bonus or a raise or a promotion! At least recognition for being great! Thanks Nicole.

We stayed at this hotel over a weekend late in August. It took 25 minutes for hot water to come out of the shower (we were on the 6^th floor). There was a raging party going on in the room next to ours on Saturday night. Also, I’ve never been to a hotel where the service elevator and guest elevator were one in the same. Hotel needs a refresh also. On a positive note, though, the staff at this hotel was very friendly and outgoing.

Conveniently located next to CSUF, this hotel offers early check in (depending on availability) and late check out (noon). The front end staff are very nice and helpful. The first thing I noted when I walked through the door is that the hotel has a distinct odor. Not just as you walk in but as you go through the hallways and into your room. The hotel itself is a little outdated save the main floor. My room had good enough AC especially since we were in the middle of a heat wave (95 – 100 degrees). My problem was still the distinct odor and when I laid on my bed. The comforter had many hard lumps in it. I assume it was because of the years of washing that eventually the material inside just clumped together. My last point for this review is that my friend accidentally left my portable charger and iPhone cable on the bed. I know it’s my fault for not double checking but it somehow got overlooked probably because the sheets covered it. I called a day after to see if they had it stored at lost and found but the front desk employee said that nothing was logged and that he would check with the housekeeping department. At that point I knew I wasn’t going to see that portable charger and cable again. Other than the smell and the uncomfortable bed sheets the hotel is fine.

Stayed her for a journalism convention and it was really good! Hands down the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in. Large room and beds, and great breakfast in the morning. It’s also across the street from a small strip mall and a few restaurants.

The perfect place to stay if you are visiting CSU Fullerton.
Its a small Marriott but they have decent room service and an exercise room.
The remodeled lobby is nice if a little stark.

After reading some of the reviews before arriving I was expecting a small concierge lounge, an outdated hotel and an Irish pub as the only real food and this was definitely not the case. First off, the lobby is absolutely gorgeous and very welcoming, the 2 gals that greeted me were more than nice! Knowing that I was just a few nights away from being a platinum member the gal who checked me in gave me $ 10 coupon towards food/​drink which was more than appreciated!
My room is nice, yeh it needs a little bit of a remodel and it’s somewhat small but for a business traveler it’s perfect. There’s a comfortable king bed, a desk, TV, closet space, hair dryer, iron, chair, a coffee maker and a very nice robe.
The gym is nice, for cardio they offer 3 treadmills, a few ellipticals, bikes, free weights and a weight machine. Inside the gym they also have towels, water and sanitizing wipes.
I don’t usually eat in hotels but after realizing the outdated Irish pub had been replaced with a trendy restaurant serving small plates I decided to check it out. After having a few small bites in the concierge lounge I wasn’t starving so I went for the Brussels sprouts which were fabulous and the beet hummus. The bar tenders were very nice and the wine is extremely decently priced for a hotel, $ 7-​$ 12 a glass.
My only disappointment I’d say about this hotel is the concierge lounge. It’s small, very quiet, dark and not very welcoming. I bet some new furniture with a lighter color would brighten this place up! With it being small you do worry that the person next to you can hear you typing on your lap top. However, the food was decent, there were plugs, plenty of chairs and good internet access. The gal in there tonight was also super nice, she was definitely new and young but she did a great job. She greeted everyone as they came in, kept on top of the food, offered me a drink the minute I came in, cleaned up after everyone and overall was a nice person to chat with. I want to say her name was Caitlin but I’m not 100% sure. Although the concierge lounge wasn’t the best I will say I was happy they at least had one. I was supposed to stay at the Anaheim Marriott suites this evening and when I realized they didn’t have a lounge I automatically switched my reservation and this was better than nothing.
Overall the hotel is nice, beautiful lobby, friendly staff, some remodeling going on and I imagine in a few months all of the rooms will be finished along with the lobby and the concierge lounge will have an upgrade. One thing I didn’t see which I was expecting was lots of families coming back from Disneyland so with it being a week night and a «work night» this was a great spot for me!

August 13, 2015 Be forewarned, HANDICAPPED SPACES IN LOT ARE ALL CLOSED AND ROPED OFF. They didn’t bother to make any temporary spaces and this is NOT mentioned on their website. Room is old and outdated. No small fridge in room as I requested, no extra towels and pillows either (Elite Gold member and requests were in my profile). Glad I’m only here one night and rate was only $ 89. This location is definitely not up to regular Marriott standards. Went to concierge lounge this morning for breakfast: a few bananas, a couple oranges, pineapple chunks, small boxes of cereal, yogurt, scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes and bagels/​English muffins/​toast. No bacon, no waffles, no mixed-​fruit cup, nothing on the healthier side either. Small lounge which is definitely older. Woman working was kind enough to call downstairs to the restaurant and gave some bacon sent up for the little ones!

This was the best known hotel available closest to my friends wedding at the Coyote Hills golf course.
It’s easy to find right next to the freeway with plenty of parking and a good choice of food nearby.
You got friendly workers all around here.
The room wasn’t anything special, but it was clean and has everything you need — free wifi, big TV, a/​c and heat works well.
They have a full bar available downstairs along with free water, fruits, and cookies.

Pre booked this hotel and got a confirmation about the hotel room. The picture online was a decent sized room kind sized bed. After checking in we find out the hotel room is two doubles! Fine print says king size bed or double! Defiantly not how I wanted to spend my birthday trip with my boyfriend… In two separate beds!

Stayed here while visiting a friend in town for 2 nights. The front desk was very helpful and friendly. My only gripe would be the hallways and room décor, they are a bit outdated, maybe 10 – 15 years out of date. The restaurant was closed and under construction so maybe they are in the process of an update. Overall not a bad experience.

Stayed at the Fullerton Marriott while I was in town for my best friend’s wedding. The hotel room was a bit outdated, but it felt clean so I was OK with it. The thermostat that controlled our room worked great, which was a huge plus because it was 90 degrees outside! The free coffee and water available in the lobby didn’t go unrecognized!
The staff and people at the desk were very helpful and attended to all of our needs. We had asked for a room on a higher floor and for extra towels and they were accommodating. The hotel restaurant and bar were closed for renovations during my stay so I can’t write on that.
The area that the hotel is in is also nice. It is right by CSU so that’s convenient for people visiting, and there are tons of strip malls around that have restaurants, drugstores, and salons.

Smells like BODY ODOR and it’s DIRTY! I travel every week for work and I usually don’t have to worry about checking reviews for a Marriott. Boy do I wish I would have checked and asked around. I checked into a room which smelled like old dirty carpets and a high school bus. I called down to the front desk to ask them to give me another room, got one and they thought it would be ok to spray a TON of air freshener into it before I went in to hide the smell of the second room. Pretty sure it’s not a fluke, all the rooms probably smell like a locker room. At this point I was so exhausted from our travel that I accepted the smelly room. My son and I both wore white socks. We took off our shoes when we got into the room and not even a few minutes later the bottom of our socks were brown. SO GROSS. Only good thing I can positively review
is the restaurant in the lobby… Will not be back until the decide cleanliness is important.

I stayed at the marriott the night before my wedding and got ready there for the big day. When we first got there we realized or standard room would not work for the number of people that would be getting ready in the room. When we went to the front desk to see about upgrading, they were more than happy to help and even have us keys to look at other rooms and find one that would work. It was more than I could have hoped for.
The pub is also charming and offers a great variety of food and drink. They were also very accommodating when our photographer wanted to do some pictures in it.
My only complaint would be that some of the amenities are lacking or outdated. The tv reception went in and out, but honestly, that did not lessen my experience there.

So here it is at 7:59pm, and I have construction crews next door banging on the walls. Awesome. They offered to move me, uh, I already hung up all my dress clothes and unpacked and whatnot, I’m not sure why the hell I have to be the one who moves, they shouldn’t have booked this room at all if they’re working on the one right next to it, but they REALLY shouldn’t be working on it this late even if they do book right next to renovations. Edit: Even after speaking to the front desk, where they insured they would call the workers and request they stop, they were still scraping and vacuuming as of 8:30 (I went to work out after this to blow off some steam), and after getting back at 9:30 I know they’re still in there, but they do seem to be quiet at least.
The carpet is also disgusting.
Upon heading to my room for the first time, one of the cleaning ladies had angled her cleaning cart in the middle of the hallway making it very narrow, far too narrow for luggage to pass by. She saw me coming with my rolling luggage, then proceeded to ignore me, forcing me to lift my luggage over my head just to get it down the hall. Not that I care about having to lift my luggage, but was insanely rude, and not sure I trust these people to come clean my room.
They also lost our paid reservations despite us even calling to confirm just a few days prior. They were in there system after they finally went looking for them, but apparently there was a big paperwork mishap, and not just for one or two of us but there were a total of 6 of us.
I do not recommend this hotel. The staff was nice enough, but this is a joke.

Their bathroom down stairs is emaculate, as for the rooms, I don’t know I have only been here for the bar and a couple of other evens. I actually did a photography job here in the past.
The bar is cool but it reminds me of the bar over at the Embassy Suites in Irvine, I don’t know but the same even seemed familiar.
Anwyay, nice place with good parking.

There are things to like and dislike about this place. The roundabout entrance and entrance on Nutwood is very strange. You can’t make a left coming out of the roundabout, only a right. That’s just weird set up. On the plus side, it was really close to the reception site for my cousin’s wedding. And it was close to the church too.
I didn’t particularly like sleeping next to the air conditioning, which was noisy enough that I had to turn it off during the night. But the bed was comfortable, the shower was okay, and well, the big room that my cousin and his new wife had was rather cool for its couch space and separate bedroom. Comfortable environs all around.
