OC Smoothies & Funnel Cakes

All the past negative reviews are spot on or worse. This owner, Pierre, has no integrity. I purchased a deal from Spreebird, who is now defunct, for a taco party. After being cancelled on four times I was informed he is no longer a caterer. I was promised a refund in the form of a Visa gift card several months back, no surprise, it never came. Pierre will no longer return my emails and took the money he got from Spreebird and never honored his end of the bargain. I offered to even just pick up meat so I didn’t have $ 200 stolen from me, but again he hasn’t responded. If you are going to do anything with this company or SoCal Party Packages do not unless you like being stolen from.

Almost purchased funnel cake package just now. I couldn’t even find a company website. All the positive reviews seem to come from friends. So glad I read the reviews before purchasing a deal through Plum District. I’m not going to let this company ruin my party — thank you everyone!

Do not use this vendor! We hired them for a fundraising event in July. After numerous calls to them we still have not received the 25% we were promised. They were messy, rude and unprepared.

I had such high hopes for our family fun night at our local elementary school to have this company provide yummy funnel cakes. The owner returned phones calls quickly, he arrived early and dropped off his supplies, and the smell of funnel cakes wafted in the air. The problems were twofold: the line was 45 minutes long (several parents timed their wait) and clean up was sloppy.
No one complained about the taste of the funnel cake, but who wants to wait that long? The owner told me he would have six burners going and he only had four. When I talked to him about it, he claimed the other two weren’t working. In my opinion, that’s not professional. I was in catering for years and know that you should always have a back up. When I told him that our lunch lady was not happy with the mess he left in the sink, he told me he cleaned it. A picture was taken by her — you be the judge! Right now, I can’t figure out how to attach the photo, but will try later.
Hopefully, he will work on these problems and be able to run a successful company.

Terrible. Absolutely horrible service. We got their «services» for a weekend event and things could not have gone any worse. Not only did they not have enough food, but they didn’t even bring the right food we paid for. No smoothies. No funnel cakes. Completely ruined the lunch for the entire event, many people did not even get to eat. AND not only that, but they STILL owe us money for how badly they screwed up and no matter how much we try to contact them, they ignore us. I have never experienced such terrible service in my life. Do not waste your time.

I paid $ 99 and purchased a deal for this vendor through Plum District for smoothies and funnel cakes service. The package was for 25 smoothies and 25 funnel cakes. Or one could choose to have 50 smoothies or 50 funnel cakes instead. My review is for the 25 smoothies/​25 funnel cakes– they do offer other products as well (like BBQ, tacos).
I really like the business concept — smoothies and funnel cakes — great for parties! So when I hosted a babyshower for my sister, I thought they would be a great addition to the celebration. Scheduling was pretty easy — I called and left a message for the owner with the date/​time I needed, he called me back to let me know availability, we set a date/​time, and he emailed me a confirmation. He said he would call me the day before to confirm. For the smoothies service, we needed to provide our own ice which I thought was okay and reasonable. The owner also informed me that there was a $ 30 «gas gratuity» that I would need to pay before service. (minus one star) Not sure if this is only applicable to those that purchased deal packages through Plum District or if it is usual practice, but I thought $ 30 was pretty hefty.
On the day of the event, the staff (1 guy) showed up 20 minutes late. (minus one star) It took him about 20 minutes to set up. He brought a folding table that all the fruit & food was going on. It was really dirty — covered in black yucky sticky stuff. I asked him if he had a tablecloth and he said no. (minus one star) Luckily I had an extra tablecloth to put on the table. I wish I had a picture of the set up — but everything just looked messy. There were boxes and crates all over the working area. The ice that I provided for the smoothies was just set on the ground before I offered him a large bowl to put it in. It definitely subtracted from the décor and ambiance that I put so much work into setting for my party.
For the smoothies, they provided some fresh fruit and blended with a sugary fruity mix. They literally just set the fruit on the table (luckily I had a table cloth). The flavor mixes for the smoothies were displayed in these industrial looking jugs and just set on the table. Even their blender looked icky. It just did not appear to be very sanitary. The smoothies were okay, not that great — let me put it this way, it was not a product I would serve my child.
The funnel cake set up was also on the same table. After all the guests were done with their smoothies, the funnel cake service began. The funnel cakes tasted okay and were very greasy. But again, I just wasn’t very happy with the sanitary conditions. The pan the funnel cakes was cooked in didn’t seem very clean.
Unfortunately, I do not think I would hire this company again.

DO NOT use this vendor! We just used him for a large event and he was late, did not have enough help, did not have enough food and did not provide the food he promised. There was no sanitary procedures for the cooking and preparing of food and he did not provide us with our 250 free smoothies. We are in the process of trying to get a refund from him so we will see if he follows through with his commitment or he will be sued. Buyers Beware!

Great service and the smoothies are incredible! I personally know the owner and he is consistantly working to improve the customer experience, quality and variety. He consistantly goes above and beyond. You wont be dissapointed!
