Urban Tree Farm Nursery

Wow is this place massive. With darn near every species of plant and tree you might want for your house, winery, commercial property.
The prices are completely reasonable. The service is excellent. Frankly, I can’t see how this could be improved upon.

This place is amazing! It’s massive, with a huge selection of trees and plants, and excellent staff help and reasonable pricing. We came first thing on Sunday morning, and there was already some other people waiting for them to open… by noontime, they were busy (with good reason– this place is like the Mecca of plants). So, tip: aim to come early if you can.
We drove up from Oakland to buy a Japanese Maple, since we couldn’t find a large enough one locally. I ended up with a few extra plants (I probably would have bought more if we had space in the car!).
If you are doing a landscaping project or buying more than a few plants, it is definitely worth the drive up! You get the quality and great support of a smaller local nursery, with prices more like (dare I even say it!) Home Devil.

Remodeled the front yard recently and needed a variety of low-​maintenance plants. Urban Tree Farm had a great selection on their sprawling grounds. I was able to find some beautiful succulents, Japanese maples, and climbing roses. The prices were fair, aside from some strangely expensive pines for the shaded areas in the yard. Because of the sprawling lot, finding all of the plants was difficult and getting them back to the parking lot was even harder. The friendly staff is kind enough to help, but on busy days, trying to track someone down is a challenge. If you are working on a larger project, expect to spend many hours here.

I used to absolutely love going here to buy my trees and plants, but after having had so many bad experiences with absolutely rude employees, I think I have decided to take my business elsewhere. If you dare call or go there looking for something unique, be prepared to be treated like you are a 2-​year old and as though you know nothing about plants. I can’t count how many times there have told me that I wouldn’t be able to keep the plants I bought alive. Well, guess what, they are doing great, despite their warnings. It’s just not good business practice to treat your customers like they are idiots and incapable of keeping a plant alive. My husband called today to inquire about an espaliered multi-​variety apple tree, and yet again, they treated him like garbage, almost as if he was dumb for inquiring about a tree like that. He felt like they were just very annoyed that he had even asked. They even told him that he wouldn’t be able to find them locally. We ended up finding the tree at Prickett’s in Healdsburg, and the staff were awesome and so helpful (King’s also carries the espaliered apple trees, FYI). It is just so aggravating to see such a beautiful nursery like Urban Tree Farm with such condescending staff. (Especially this one guy with a beard. He’s never nice to us when we go.) This nursery has potential because it is absolutely enormous with great selection, but I think I’ll be sticking to the smaller nurseries with the people who enjoy helping their customers instead of belittling them.

We totally re-​did our front entrance area and have to thank Jillian for the results! We took some before photos on the iPad, showed her the space, and asked her what she would do. She quickly drew a mock-​up plan and chose a nice combination of plants that all needed the same kind of soil. She knew exactly what she was doing and was really thoughtful when listening to the kind of feeling we were trying to create. I really couldn’t be happier. Notes: small but good selection of pots, soil is less expensive than at home depot, gravel and rocks can be gotten about a mile away at SBI.

One of the most beautiful nurseries I. Have ever seen. I Drove 1.5 hours to get a tree that I was told was available only to find that was incorrect. The manager jumped through hoops to make it right and worked out a solution. As a small Business owner I appreciate a company that takes customer service to a high standard. I highly recommend this tree farm.

Very knowledgeable staff. Great selection of small, medium and large plants. So glad we found this place.

They sold me a completely different variety that loses there leaves every year which is not what I wanted. When I called they led me to believe that trees sometimes just lose there leaves for no reason. This was not the case. They sold me something different than I wanted or delivered something different.
Every time I go in the yard it bothers me. I should have had shade by now and all I have is bare trees four months out of the year that are green in the summer.
They should have made it right

Awesome place, awesome people. I purchased some trees from Urban, one of the trees delivered was slightly different from the one that I’d chosen. Even though my gardener had already planted the tree. The Urban tree guys came to my house, dug up the tree and re-​planted the other tree. Special thanks to Kate who made this transaction so easy.
I’ll be back for more trees, have already purchased and planted 9 trees from these folks.

Huge place with everything under the sun (no pun intended). From trees, to herbs to roses you can get lost here. Sure wish we had more time but next time we’re in the area, we’ll most likely stop by. Ask to get a tour in a golf cart. I’m sure you’ll most likely find what you’re looking for.

I have been to Urban Tree Farm 5 or 6 times for various plants for my yard and never been disappointed.

The most INCREDIBLE nursery ever !! I’m so thankful to the harried gent at the treeless nursery in Petaluma who directed me here.
Genevieve personally escorted me, back in February 2015, to pick out 1 or 2, 2 – 3 year old trees. Once she mentioned delivery was only $ 40, I decided to splurge a bit.
We picked out an O’Brian Peach, an Asian Pear, a Dogwood and Saucer Magnolia. All at very reasonable prices for their vigor and ages.
Jose delivered the next day and took extra time to reiterate planting and care instructions of my toddlers.
Fast forward to May, 2015. I have 10 pears growing. I have 20 peaches growing. My dogwood is magnificent ! My magnolia was the stunner of the block.
I was just in yesterday to purchase several perennials. All were robust 1 gallons for a few dollars each.
Be sure to shop, ask about, the perennial section in back. The plants aren’t bloom pretty and perfect, but if you know your plants you can snatch up some healthy bargains.
Also, check the section at the back of the sales shack, for bargain buys of plants that customers ordered, but never picked up.
Such variety here ! So well laid out. Everyone is so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Lousy guaranty on bare root trees. The lame commercial on KSRO is getting old. Maybe time to change it from some horny old wife drooling about the neighbor stud to the horny old husband scoping out the young hot blonde babe next door sunbathing nude. We dont need no privacy shrubs hunny, lets invite her over to our swimming pool for a party.

Every time I’ve phoned them I get haughty, not-​willing-​to-​help, short, people on the phone. They do not want to help me when I’m inquiring about trees. I really hate to give one-​star, but they are rude. I would buy anywhere else if it’s available, like King Nursery. King has people willing to help you on the phone. Every single person at Urban Tree Farm is completely rude and unwilling to help you on the phone.

They do special orders. They have organic fruit trees. They are HUGE. You can buy almost any plant here that you want. If they don’t have it, they will order it. They also have preordering of fruit trees for the season.
The place is gigantic and they grow a lot of their own trees and plants.
The only caveat is that they can be a little pricey. But it is often true that you get what you pay for.

After years of having a fake tree at Christmas we wanted a live tree we could plant after the holiday. We picked a beautiful Frazier fur which we were told would last years in the pot provided. However, despite following the care instructions, the tree began to brown almost immediately. After removing the tree from the pot we were disappointed to see that almost the entire root system had been removed. For the $ 125+ we spent on this tree we expected better.
A shame really because the nursery is really a beautiful place with a huge selection and friendly staff. But we would not be comfortable spending money on any larger purchase based on this experience.

Urban Tree Farm is wonderful! Not only do they have an amazing selection of beautiful trees and plants, but their staff is wonderful, so helpful and very knowledgeable! They are all about good customer service too, which is a rare find these days in any business.
We bought several trees after the very cold winter in 2013 and sadly the trees that we had picked had suffered frost damage, which is certainly not the fault of Urban Tree Farm. We worked with Travis, who was wonderful by the way, in replacing the damaged trees with healthy ones. We couldn’t be happier and will continue to buy our trees and plants from Urban Tree Farm as we continue our (big) landscaping project — Highly recommend! Thank you, Travis!

Do not miss this place if you’re into your garden. You will not be disappointed.

We went there specifically for frost tolerant plants. Their staff walked us around and told us which ones to buy. We spent over $ 200.00. One plant survived the frost and the others did not. When we spoke with the owner to get a credit or replacement or even a discount on something else. It was a giant NO.
Don’t waste your money there. Bad business practice.

Amazing place! We came in to check out one tree and now we are in the process of selling our house so we can buy more trees! (OK not really)… But we did end up getting more trees and shrubbery after coming here. Friendly people, wide variety of well cared for trees plus the neat little golf cart they drive you around with makes one of the best nurseries in the Bay Area.
They will deliver for $ 99 (everything you can fit in a Ford pick up truck).
