A-1 Body & Frame

Our car was hit and while researching insurance approved shops, I saw the reviews here on Unilocal for this place and it seemed like the place to go. Never have we regretted a decision more. They had our car for over 5 weeks and then returned it to us in the worst shape ever. There was a dent at the gas door that was visible, the bumper just below the tail light looked like someone had used a screwdriver to pry off the tail light (which was NOT damaged in the accident) and the clear coat was completely warped. Not only that but the car had some kind of automotive «goo» all over it in spots that were nowhere near the spot where it was hit. It was incredibly hard to get off of the car. I wish we would’ve taken a picture of the odometer when we dropped it off because it looked like they’d driven it through the woods, it was so dirty. We told him we would not sign off on this as the car now had things wrong with it that weren’t wrong even when it was hit.
We had gone on a trip and turned in the rental car because he assured us the car would be ready when we got back. It wasn’t so because these things were their fault, they would have to provide the rental while they fixed it. Do we get a comparable mid-​sized car like the insurance company provided and like we were told would be given to us? No. We get a compact car because now that they have to foot the bill they want to give us a nasty, cigarette smoke soaked car that had an out of state license plate. Thank God my husband only had to drive it a day and a half. He said it was the worst rental ever.
Oh but how is the follow up service if you have questions? Excuse me while I laugh. The hubby emailed Br to ask if he could wax the paint job because the car needed washed badly and he never emailed him back, ever. (He had to look up online that NO for 90 days, you should not wax where a car was painted if it wasn’t done at the factory) I’m sure I can guess why Br never got back to us, because according to their receptionist as we were waiting to return the rental, they «are so busy. It’s great, they have a ton of cars.» I said «maybe it’s great for you!» HELLO, people are bringing you cars because something is seriously wrong or they’ve been in an accident! Show a little couth!
I would NEVER recommend these people to anyone to repair their car!

Walking into this shop was a breath of fresh air. I didn’t feel ripped off, and they were very honest. They even talked their way out of my job, by giving me a quick fix. My car is old, and I didn’t want to pay for a whole new panel. He fixed the dent for free and sent me on my way. Their facility is impressive, and all other customers there while I was there were very happy with the results of their work.
They are very professional, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this shop for all your body shop needs.

Today, I brought my truck into A-​1 for an estimate. Unfortunately, my door is dropping due to weak hinges and apparently, bad manufacturing. (I guess that’s why Japanese trucks are outselling American trucks!)
Bob assisted me right away. He was very pleasant and allowed me to interrupt his paperwork to take a quick look at my problem. His advise was very sound, yet expensive. I’m not saying his rates are expensive. It’s just that I don’t want to pay several hundred dollars to fix something on such an old vehicle. That’s my problem, not theirs (or yours).
Bob was very knowledgeable and practical. As a matter of fact, he even suggested that if I could find somebody who did body work from home, that would probably save me money. I like that. Bob’s not afraid to lose business to anyone.
I can only give A-​1 3 stars for now, because I have yet to hire them for the reconstructive surgery. But, as soon as I do, I will definitely provide an update to this review.
