Fit2Run, The Runner’s Superstore

Selection is really good, because I am an Asics guy. Staff is average in their knowledge but really want to help. I like that they as a company promote or engage a lot of local events and groups.

These guys were super helpful! Anthony was working with me today. He was very knowledgable about the type of shoe I should be looking for with consideration of my gait when I run. I would absolutely recommend this store!

First time going into this store. I was amazed by the level of service provided for personal fitness attire. I feel like I’m super prepared to hit the gym now with my new workout shoes. Thank you Sam for all the help!

I’ve been here a few times to buy walking shoes. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable.
I’ve never had a problem not being helped. It’s always been the opposite — staff come up to me quickly and ask what type of shoe I’m looking for an offer recommendations. They have a walking machine which checks your feet (pressure, walking style, etc) to assist in finding the right shoe.
Prices are higher than some shoe stores, but you are usually there for the higher end walking or running shoe, which is not sold in all stores.

I love this place. Great customer service… friendly staff always willing to help. I’m a member of the Fit2Run club and had to return a pair of shoes that I had used for 28 days. They just weren’t the right fit… I even ran a half marathon in them… they were pretty beat up. I didn’t have a receipt and there was NO PROBLEM. I was able to exchange my VERY broken in Brooks for a brand new pair off the shelf at NO COST to me. How could anyone want to shop for running shoes anywhere else?!

I went to Fit2Run today as I knew they would have the Nike running shorts that I wanted. Found them without a problem and went to the register to pay. They literally had 4 people in the store, but nobody bothered to even acknowledge that I was at the register to let me know they would be with me in a few minutes.
After 10 minutes, I put the shorts back on the rack and left. I called the other running store in town and they had what I wanted for about $ 15 less each.
Good selection of shoes and gear, but the service is terrible and the prices are way too much.
Will never go back.

I will never shop at Fit2Run ever again after my experience at the Oaks Mall. I am in Gainesville on business and forgot my Vibrams at home. I usually shop at Champs because my Vibrams are usually found there and the store associates always provide excellent service, no matter which Champs I go to. Champs did not have my size, so the store associate kindly directed me to Fit2Run. I entered the store and it was dead, no one but one associate was in there and the music was not on. You could hear a pin drop. The store associate was less than 5 feet away from me taking photos of Nikes on the bench while I was standing in front of the Vibram display. I literally was facing him for more than 5 minutes while he continued to ignore me and take photos of the shoes. It was so obvious that I was facing, staring at him that it was comical. This guy, who is supposed to be making money for the store and providing customer support, felt that taking photos of Nikes on his phone was most important. When he finally turned to me and asked if I had a question on the Vibrams, I responded, «No, I just need to buy one». We then got into this back and forth about sizes and utility of the shoe. His attitude was so crappy. He acted like I had no idea what I needed or was asking for. I have been running in Vibrams for more than a year, I have 3 pairs at home. All I wanted to do was purchase a pair so I can run while in Gainesville. This guy had no reason to have an attitude. He was snobbish, unprofessional and just down right rude. His attitude only took a somewhat positive turn when I was handing over my credit card for shoes. I will never shop at Fit2Run ever again.

I went into Fit 2 Run today for the first time at their Gainesville location and was very impressed with the service and selection. As an avid runner and someone who is very picky about running shoes, clothing, and the brands of these items, I found their inventory more than ample and containing some products – like a variety of track spikes – that once were impossible to find in Gainesville and one would have to go to Orlando to purchase. The associate who helped me, Michael, knew his stuff and was patient and friendly. When he learned that I was experienced he was able to match my interest and knowledge level and certainly didn’t try to sell me anything I didn’t need nor did he try to tell me what I *did* need. That said, I feel he had the expertise to properly help a novice get into running and select the best shoes and other products. It is difficult to find a running store that strikes this balance: some are aloof and don’t provide enough help whereas others assume everyone is uninformed and try to tell you exactly what you require. Seeing someone who is well-​prepared to help his customers yet isn’t pushy is very encouraging.
There were a few products like the Mizano Musha that Fit 2 Run did not have in stock, however, that said, they had far and away the best selection of running shoes and related products I’ve ever seen under one roof in Gainesville.

Adding on to my quick tip to clarify. I waited patiently to have any of the 2 female sales staff to assist me… as I waited for 15min while holding a display shoe that I wanted to try on. No greeting. No «it will be a couple minutes»…nothing. Finally one of the girls (after she was done entertaining her one customer and got up to get something for her, so it was only out of «convenience» as I was obviously waiting for one of the two of them to ask me if I needed assistance) [now mind you there were only 3 customers TOTAL in the entire store]) asked me «what size do you want» …and returns within a minute to tell me there is none in my size in that style without offering me another alternative to make a sale. I didn’t bother to tell her the sample was exactly the size I asked.
Thank goodness for the 2 sales staff on the other side of the store where the men shoes were located. They graciously assisted me and greeted me kindly. Shane went the extra mile and saw where the other half to the display was located, and assisted me with trying them on. And only because of his excellent customer service (and a good shoe) did I purchase. The rude gal continued to ignore me even though she had to assist while I was cashing out at the register and said «what does she want?» Seriously… what ever possessed her to go into sales. Although I saw she was assisting a sale, I have worked retail, and I believe every customer is just as important regardless of what they may buy or if they are just browsing.
The 2 stars is due to the rudeness and length of wait with 4 staff and only 4 people in the store browsing. One would think with that ratio it would be better. The selection of running shoes and fear is fair — would have given 4 stars for the range of selection for running shoes.
I think upper management should really re-​assess their personnel if they hope to succeed in sales.
