History

Established in 1980.

Interstate Batteries began in 1952 in Texas. We started here in Florida as an Independent wholesale battery distribution business for Interstate in 1980. We service hundreds of service stations, garages, cities, counties, state and national agencies, new and used car dealers, marinas, lawn and garden shops, golf courses, boat dealers, motorcycle dealers and shops and more in 10 ½ counties. We have gone from zero customers that first month in 1980 to over 1,000. In 1995 we began our All Battery Division to make us a one stop shop for «Every Battery for Every Need» for our wholesale and retail customers. In 2011 we surpassed the 1 Million Unit Sales mark in automotive batteries alone. Interstate is the #1 replacement battery in North America sold at over 200,000 Dealers. Since it’s begining, and long before it became popular, Interstate went green by recycling at least one lead acid battery for every one sold. We recycle more than 2 million pounds of batteries annually.

In 1976, I began as a warehouse worker at Interstate Batteries of Dallas, where the Interstate National office is. I moved up to a special delivery or «Hot Shot» driver, then up to a Route Sales Manager, then up to a National Sales Rep.\ Route Manager. In 1980 I was given the opportunity to start a new Distributorship in North Central Florida from scratch, and that required me to move to Gainesville Florida.
