I simply cannot believe the narcissistic remarks made against this facility by people! I had a chronic problem with my Achilles Tendon and Dr. Toussant performed wonderful surgery on me. His staff are all upbeat and responsive, know me by name, know my situation and are very responsive. And I have never had to wait to be seen. Everybody from the front Receptionist to Taylor, Dr. Toussant’s P.A. are the best; and Joyce, my PT Guru is awesome.
Disregard all these «pity parties»; The Orthopedic Institute is the best! I had both my knees done by Shands, and Dr. Moser there is a Rock Star; but their Ankle guy was arrogant and would not listen to my self-​evaluation. He was wrong and I was right, and fortunately, Dr. Toussant listened to me and solved my problem, which was complex, BTW.

I had knee surgery. Jury is still out on the success of it. I do think, though, that they didn’t prepare me for how bad the week after surgery was going to be. It was terrible and I think the on call Dr over the weekend have me bad advice which led to a bad medicine reaction. Could he have known? Not sure.

Staff was not helpful. waited a hour past our appointment time and they did not tell us that the doctor was behind. Our appointment was at 10:15 when we got there we were notified that the appointment was moved to 10:45 and no one informed us. no phone call.nothing. when I was complaining about waiting a hour past our appointment the front desk staff asked me what I wanted them to do. like they were clueless of what to do.

The Orthopedic Institute is a large facility with a great number of doctors, some good, some bad. This review will be based on one of their doctors by the name of Dr. Philip Parr, and as you can tell from the stars above, he’s one of the bad.
Though there is another review from about a year ago saying good things about Dr Parr, my experience was not nearly positive in an capacity and for VERY specific reasons that I have listed below
The reason for my visit to see Dr. Parr, was because of a long standing issue with a injury under my shoulder blade. It was about 3 years earlier that I was hit hard with a bit of re-​bar there and it had been hurting off and on (sometimes pretty bad) since that time. I explained this in an extremely clear and concise way to Dr Parr, yet he said that that was most likely not the case «because it would have healed over 3 years» (yes, this is a quote from him). His diagnosis was then that I had «Likely forgotten» over these 3 years about exactly what had happened and that instead I most certainly had issues in my neck and that that was causing the problem.
After arguing with him about my memory and telling him that I’m pretty sure I remember where I got hurt (yeah, that is how the conversation went with him.. .) I left without any further attempts by Dr Parr to try and understand what I was saying or without offering any options to try to learn what damage the area might have sustained.
I don’t doubt that under ideal circumstances or if you fall into what it says in the book, that Dr Parr will be right there with the right answers, but what makes a good doctor is the ability to listen, adapt, and to offer specific solutions, and Dr Parr simply is not able to do these things.

Clean, quick, knowledgeable. The staff has always been friendly. Even to the little brat running circles around the check-​in desk screaming «HIGH-​YAH» over and over. (I would have snatched a knot in his head, but that’s another story).
Dr. Parr may be aging, but he knows his knees. Probably better because he’s had knee problems a long time too, but he’s honest and more «old-​school». I like that because I don’t want frills and PC garbage when I’m asking for treatment options.
I have not only visited to get help with my bad knees (thanks Daddy), but also with my young daughter for her arm & back (to clarify, these injuries are NOT from me snatching a knot in her, they’ were playground injuries).
Everyone I’ve seen has been professional and friendly. I don’t hear a lot of silly chatter amongst the staff in the background, which is good because I don’t care what «he said she did last weekend»!
I’ve come in with different insurance companies over the years and each was accepted and explained prior to treatment if there was something extraordinary, like PRE-​auth required or a special fee. I cannot speak to the physical therapy department, but based on my experiences here, I would choose this group for my Ortho treatment even if they were out-​of-​network.

Shattered my tibia and dislodged my ACL a few months ago. My surgery and follow-​ups were done at the Orthopaedic Institute. Everyone there was very nice and I’m walking again so they did the job right. Best of all, I was never left twiddling my thumbs in the waiting room forever before an appointment.
