SpringHill Suites By Marriott

My mom and I stayed overnight a couple of months back when she was in in town for a procedure at Shands. While the walls were thin, the staff was very awesome! My brother booked a single king for us and the GM kindly changed the room with no price change. When we mentioned why we were in town, several staff members approached Mom with encouragement. From check-​in to check-​out, the service was great. Each staff member wore a smile and each made us feel like a true guest.

The rooms here are «semi-​suites.» You get the sleeping area, the bathroom area, and the sitting area, but a little kitchenette (or not even) with a mini fridge, a microwave, and a wet bar sink. Basically, you can get the same thing at a two-​star hotel for half the cost.
The parking lot was a bit small for the size of this place, so you’ll get lucky if you can get a spot. Breakfast was good, just your standard fare found in most hotels. The décor of the hotel was weird, the carpeting was a mish-​mash of random, bright colors. But that’s just me.
The one thing I didn’t like about this place was that I can CLEARLY hear the people in the next room, even though it seems like they were talking normally. So basically… If you want to get it on, your whole floor can hear you most likely.
Of the Marriott chains I stayed at during my time in Gainesville, this place was my least favorite. But, it would be a much better choice than the seedy cheapo motels.

It was ok, not the best, not the worst.

The place is undergoing a partial facelift which is fine. Do not have a problem with that. They have lots of signs to guide you to the front desk.
The problem is the room. Got a king bed which is not a king bed. It is a queen bed. The carpet is not clean and it is unclear if the comforter/​blanket thing gets washed between guests.
Next is the A/​C. It is on a motion detector. My guess is so it doesn’t run when no one is in the room. However it also doesn’t run if you are asleep. So you wake up hot in the middle of the night to wave your hands to get it to turn on.
Used nearly a whole can of Lysol on the room. I hope their renovation includes the rooms.

wonderful all around hotel for the most part. certainly one of the most visually appealing in the area but there were a few minor issues that were unpleasant if anything. my mother and I stayed over night with separate beds thankfully because just as I was about to fall asleep I found a lovely little friend on the pillow next to me. bugs are just a big no-​no to me, especially in hotels. also, the electrical room right next to the elevators reeked as if something was on fire in there. I brought it up to a few others who all agreed they had been smelling that for days, quite an unpleasant experience. I’m writing my review from my mothers bed as I try to fall asleep ignoring the notion of bugs and fires. I have yet to speak to anyone about my complaints but will update my review as I will be complaining in the morning. a few pluses are the nicely sized rooms, the spacious beds (especially tonight), the friendly customer service, not to mention the homey feeling of the place.
so, I had the chance to mention the issues to the front desk clerk and he was very helpful in apologizing and ensuring house keeping as well as their pest control would aid the situation. he also refunded 10,000 points onto our account as we paid 20,000 points for the night.

This is a fabulous all-​suites hotel. The best service we have ever received. They put «warmth» back into travel. The staff is friendly and professional. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The amenities are well maintained. The complimentary breakfast buffet is the best we ever had at a hotel. You get a lot of bang for your buck. While its location is not obvious, it is near shopping, restaurants and UF. They deserve 6 STARS and the key to the city for best local hospitality business. Some of the finest hotels could learn from this place.

Very friendly and accommodating staff. We walked in without reservation and got two very clean rooms. Breakfast was excellent.

This hotel is a textbook example of how to run a great hotel! From the quick and friendly booking over the phone from the road, through the quick and friendly check in, and on through the rest of our stay, it was flawless. We were greeted immediately. The hotel staff noticed he had picked up a beer from the rack, and I hadn’t. They offered wine, which I needed, just added to the bill. Then they offered a small bag to carry both to the room.
The room was well-​designed, even down to the angle into the separate commode/​shower area that gave additional privacy for two users. There was a full length mirror that one could walk right up to, great for those nearsighted guests who need to put in eye drops, or find every single one of those stupid no-​see-​um bites, even the ones that show up eight hours after your last exposure.
Every detail was attended to, even leaving the shower head turned into the wall to guard against an inadvertent dousing. And I LOVE the new square patterned branded towels. They are the perfect weight. And no, I didn’t, but I thought about it! Kudos, Marriott.
If you’re on the road, and trying to decide, make this your stop of choice. You won’t regret it.

Some wonderful friends of ours had arranged for us to stay at a bed and breakfast in Micanopy on our wedding night. When a pipe burst, it seemed our wedded sleeping arrangements were in limbo… it was a Game weekend and the likelihood of getting a nice room was not in our favor… The Springhill Suites Marriott came through! They made our friends last second scramble to save the day an easy one.
We arrived already checked in, and went straight to room 404. A superbly clean, adorable suite! Perfectly set for us to drop our wedding attire and curl up on the bed and have a perfect start to a honeymoon. :) I love all the colors in the hotel, down to the crazy carpet in the hallways. We didnt make it down for free breakfast, but checkout was easy and I would recommend this place to anyone, even for a first night as Husband and Wife!

Breakfast was not adequately serviced & replenished. Had to ask for more cereal, eggs, milk, yogurt, etc. biscuits hard as a rock… over-​microwaved!

I fully agree with Debbi, N. Not luxurious but there are almost no luxurious places in Gainesville. The staff here is very welcoming and accommodating. Gym is on the small side but has a few machines for the very motivated exerciser. The rates were not bad at all but can be extremely expensive for the area when a large event such as UF graduation is taking place. Normal rates, ~$ 60-​$ 90 but was $ 225 during graduation. Your stay comes with free continental breakfast and walking distance to many stores available on Archer street.

This is a very decent place to stay in Gainesville. All the rooms are suites, with a little sitting area, with a fridge, and micro wave and pullout sofa and desk and chair. It’s clean and if you need anything, they are accomodating. I think it’s fairly new for Gainesville. Part of Marriotts. They have a free breakfast buffet every morning, free wifi, a gym, pool, and coffee and tea ²⁴⁄₇. The lobby has a little shop with snacks and drinks. They are conveniently located right off Archer and 75 and across from a lot of shops. If you are visiting a student, or want to check out UF for the future, stay here, it’s a no-​brainer. Not luxurious, but in Gainesville, there is no luxury anyway.
