One of the more interesting libraries on the UF campus. This one was constructed in the 1960s and houses most of the design related books in the UF Library system. The collection speaks for itself. I’m a huge fan of the structure itself. The 2nd floor bridge is highly expressive of the mid century era. The handles and guardrails, floating stairways and terrazzo — all great details. Three of the 4 Fine Arts buildings seem to be built as a piece, and flow beautifully. The Library is part of that complex. Ideally, those idiotic double carrells would be removed some day, allowing the reading room to soar once more. (Sidenote: The 4th building is a horrible carbuncle build in the late 70s and really should be bulldozed. See separate review on Building B) Staff is efficient and friendly, and in off hours you might even get a parking spot close by. Keep in mind that with new security features, you can’t get into the place without your Gator One card(off hours only)
