Camelot Flooring

My review is long outdated as I kept forgetting to review it. We had the hardwood floors done by this company 7 years ago. The floors themselves turned out fantastic and even today, after pets, they have held up good. My complaint is first, the gaps in the floors. At the time we were told they needed to be there for expansion. I accepted that, and they aren’t «horrible». My biggest problem is that the board slide and the gaps get bigger on one side. Clearly, some of our flooring was laid down and never even nailed to other boards. I can kick the board and slide it back until where the gap is even. That is not a huge deal. However, you would think a flooring company could put in shoe molding correctly. Apparently Camelot can not do this. They put all of my shoe in incorrectly, with the longer part on the floor and not up to the baseboard. In addition, they show the nails directly into the hardwood due to this. I asked them to leave off the foyer show as we were painting the baseboards and would do that ourselves. When it came time to add the shoe, I had to run that the same incorrect way to avoid mismatching. Basically, they did a nice job on the floors. My 1 star is for the gaps, lack of attention and the incorrect shoe molding. After reading the other reviews, it looks like my review is right on point.

I am very pleased. Very personable and professional work. Efficient and neat. Spent the time to work within my budget and to provide options to get my perfect floor. Highly recommend. Clean, quick and quality service.

POOR WORKMANSHIP — DO NOT BELIEVE PROMISES
When the hardwood floors were installed there were significant gaps through out. I brought to their attention. I was assured that it was normal and the wood would expand and get tight. It needed to go over the summer (it was a spring install). They assured me that they would correct anything remaining after that time. In the fall, I called them back. Now the spaces were all over the floor. Now the story was, it needs to wait a whole year — no worries they would fix anything remaining. Now a year later, its not the install or flooring — its the humidity in my house being too low. I showed them the whole house humidifier and additional room humidifiers that I run. I have children and so track this in the house. Now, they say there is nothing they can to for me. There solution to me was fill the cracks with wood fill match the color — REALLY?!? That would be like grouting the entire first floor of my house at this point.
I am going to have to pay another company to come in a correct the problem. Additionally, their were many chipped edges of boards and not secure nailing of some molding. There only concern is to get in and out as quick as possible — tell you anything to get their money.
AVOID THESE PEOPLE!

I needed to update this review and downgrade my rating for two reasons:
1) Shortly after I posted my original review, the owner emailed my wife indicating how unhappy he was with my negative review. He claimed the only reason he’d taken the job was because my wife was so nice. Silly me — I thought it was the over $ 23,000 that we paid him was the reason. How naïve of me. Maybe if he didn’t like my review, he could have called or emailed me (or my wife) to ask how he could remedy his poor workmanship.
2) What really pushed it over the top for me to bother to update this review and downgrade Camelot to one star is the quality of the work, only 15 months after it was completed. In a couple areas, the stain is fading (not due to sunlight) and in other areas the polyurethane is beginning to chip away. We had another flooring contractor in to look at making repairs and he concluded that Camelot had either not applied the full 3 coats of poly (as specified in our contract) or used materials of such poor quality that only a little more than a year later, our floors look like hell.
Unfortunately, my fears about poor workmanship after the work was initially done have been confirmed. AVOID CAMELOT FLOORS.
