Quite possibly the worst facial I’ve ever received. Went to the Red Door in the Kentlands when my regular aesthetician broke her finger and was out of commission for a while. The «Signature Facial» I received was lackluster, limited, and actually left my face looking worse than when I went in. On the up side, the clinician was very nice, sweet and personable. But the service itself and the products used (at least how they felt on my skin) were clearly not high quality (definitely not worth the money!) and left me itchy and sticky. Minimal extractions were done, and only on the top of my nose. Even the body lotion that was put on my arms, and supposedly my hands, didn’t make the grade. In fact, no lotion was put on my hands at all before being put into heated mitts; not a healthy thing for dry hands and cuticles in the Winter. I will not be returning for any service to this salon.

Received an email from Red Door Spa at 8:05 am regarding «Waxing Wednesdays». Called this location at 11:30 pm to schedule an appointment and was on hold for three minutes. I was told the only appointment time for ANY waxing service was 2:30 this afternoon. I asked about Wednesday of next week and they said they are booked for the entire month of December. I was excited to try out this spa, but apparently won’t be able to until next month… when the deal for waxing expires…

Poor hair cut for Asia. Took 2 minutes but cost for 80 bucks. Not a great place to cut your hair for Asians, esp the straight hair long bob. Will never go again. Today met Korea girl in DC. She recommend beautiful salon in Virginia to me. Will try this one. Sometime the price is not aligned with the technique. But his is the lesson for life. What u can complain further? Safe firstly

This was my first time at a Red Door Spa although I have had facials from Beverly Hills Ca to New York City over the years. It definitely was a wonderful experience, I felt pampered and relaxed and like I had the cleanest and most nurtured skin on the planet. My esthetician was Shelby L. and she made me feel like I and my skin needs were her top priority. I HATE to drive. but this was worth the trip.

Got a really bad color job where my roots were colored red and all the rest of my hair was in essence black! My hair is thick and it is long so this was very distressing. I was given a gift-​card a while ago for this Spa so i decided to use it 2 days after the bad color job to save my hair. I made an early appointment on a weekday and my stylist was right on time, her name is Nieves, and immediately went over everything I needed and I was given cucumber water while I was waiting. I had made the appointment for balayage and cannot say enough about what an amazing job she did. The color was perfect, the attention she paid was perfect and the speed in which she worked was also great. I could not be happier with what she did and I will be going back to see her again in a few weeks so I absolutely recommend her. The salon was also very clean and well-​maintained and all of the staff were very helpful and professional. Overall great salon and spa!

If I could give it 0 stars I would. This was my first time visiting this location. When I made my appointment over the phone I asked for a massage and pedicure. They asked if I wanted to come at 2 or 3. I chose 2. Since I am not from the area I got turned around getting here. I walked in 7 minutes after 2. I arrive to a lobby full of people and children. Not what I expected. I was taken back and changed for my massage. The massage therapist indicates to me as I prepare to lay on the table that she would need to shorten my massage because I was late. I asked, «Do you have a 3:00?» She replied no. But it was their policy. I asked, «Why wouldn’t you explain that when I checked in, BEFORE I undressed?» She then offers to push my appointment back to 3:00. So I am clear, I am in the room. She doesn’t have an appointment after me but offers to push my massage back 50 minutes? What? Logically that makes no sense. I decide to skip the services which include the massage and a pedi. I take full ownership for being late, however, the way these folks handled it was just dumb. Did I mention that the relaxation room was full of people in street clothes just chatting it up? Not a relaxing atmosphere and not real spa like!

I recently moved to the area and wanted to treat myself to a facial and pedicure for an early birthday present. So I figured, why not go big and do Red Door? I was happy to know that I could book online the day before, and they still had plenty of availability for the Saturday I wanted, which was great. When I arrived, there was a slight mixup because somehow I had already been checked in, so they couldn’t find me in the system. But it was quickly resolved, and back I went to the relaxation area. The seats could have been a little more comfortable, but it was definitely a nice space.
My Signature facial was really good, overall. I hadn’t had one in several years, so I was kind of nervous, particularly for any extractions. And the extractions were painful, but that is to be expected. But overall, it was relaxing and enjoyable. Well worth the money.
The Signature pedicure was pretty good, but no better than other nail salon pedicures I’ve gotten elsewhere, so I took off one star for that. I felt like the technician I had wasn’t really that into her job, and it showed because she seemed disinterested the whole time. I think my experience would have been better if I’d had someone else.
Then I had the complimentary makeup refresher at the end, which was a nice, unexpected touch. Overall, great experience, and I’ll be back (probably not for a while though; it’s $$$).

So very disappointed. My friends and family were kind enough to have a salon day for me before my wedding. I had a facial scheduled. No one let us know before hand to come 15 minutes early, but we still arrived 15 minutes prior to our services’ scheduled time. We stood in line for at least 20 minutes. The front desk people seemed to care less that we had been there for awhile, and no one asked us if they could help until we arrived at the counter. When they finally took us back to change into robes and start the services, the estheticians told us to hurry. We were all confused.
As I was getting the facial done, the esthetician kept telling me that she’s sorry, but because we came in so late should would have to cut the facial very short. I explained to her that we had gotten there early and that we stood in line for awhile, but she said that she had an appointment right after and couldn’t do anything about it. We felt extremely rushed and not at all relaxed. Will not be going back.

My review is based on previous waxing and facial. I used to drive all the way to Gaithersburg Red Door to get waxed because of the amazing job that Sharon did. She’s really friendly and does a great job of being thorough and quick with waxing. So glad she’s back at this location.

On June 27^th, 2015 I brought my mom in for a 25 minute massage, manicure, and makeup application. I decided that my Mom would enjoy would enjoy this on her 70^th birthday. I must say booking this appointment was smooth and easy as I was in Arizona at the time I placed the call. The day I took my mom everyone was very kind and helpful getting her checked in. The massage was great but her highlight was Kim doing her nails. So if anything I would absolutely take the time to get a manicure from her… so a HUGE thank you to Kim.
My only issue was she asked someone at the front desk if she was done and they all told her yes after she sat around for about 30 minutes. I came to pick her up and she was just sitting in one of the chairs across from the front desk with no makeup. She didn’t know what all she was signed up (I wrongly assumed she would be moved from mini treatment to mini treatment) so it was a bit disappointing. When I asked I was told they were running behind which is not an issue to me, but I wish my mom would have been informed. We waited about 30 minutes and she had her makeup done which was great… I cannot remember the young ladies name, but thank you for your kindness.
My only issue was communication… I went and got my mom a tea and we just waited until she was ready… I just think a little process improvement goes a long way… Overall a good experience but could have been a ⁵⁄₅ star vs a ³⁄₅ due to communication.

I called here last year for a massage during my pregnancy and they said they do not do massages on pregnant women because it’s against the law and no other spa will do it either. But, now on their website it offers the damn thing. That’s some bulls hit because I had enjoyed going there before I was bearing child. They lost a longtime client now. And, another awesome spa took care of me while I was pregnant and no one went to jail… dummies.

UPDATE:
Following my review, I was contacted by the General Manager at Red Door who was absolutely impeccable. She wanted to hear every detail about my experience and how she could make things right. She told me that the woman who did my hair was a fantastic stylist and very popular so perhaps something had gone wrong that day, because she gets rave reviews from her clients.
They were more than accommodating and we came to a great agreement as to how to rectify the situation.
One thing I should have mentioned initially is that Red Door’s customer service has always been on point and my conversation with the GM today proves that to be true, once again. I will absolutely give Red Door another try and I am grateful for their profound appreciation for their clients.

Red Door has never been my go-​to hair salon but I was gifted a hefty gift certificate and had been considering highlights for the spring/​summer. The appointment was supposed to be 1.5 hours, according to the receptionist and their brochure.
Now, I’ve hesitated to write this review because I absolutely loved my stylist. We hit it off, gabbing about our daughters for… OVER THREE HOURS! I arrived on time for my appointment (4pm) and didn’t leave until 7:30. Reminder, I have a daughter and family who rely on me for dinner and the works. I couldn’t believe it.
But, unfortunately that’s not nearly the worst part about it. When I sat down I showed her a picture of what I was looking for. Natural, ombré, subtle but warm. She was totally into it and confident so I was excited and started to relax and enjoy «me time». When she finished, it was so far from what I asked for. It was the most basic, bland highlights I’ve ever had and the worst part is they weren’t even subtle! Just no good, all around. I felt like a tween who wanted frosted highlights– no thank you.
Then when i went to pay, I was informed of a $ 55+ blow dry fee… so I’m supposed to go home w wet hair and learn that my highlights are wrong from the comfort of my own bathroom? I can’t believe they charge you to dry your hair after they color it. How can you even know what they did when it’s still wet?

This happened 1.5 years ago, but I feel like this needs to be shared. If you’re a bride, please rethink your choice about going here. A woman that works here made me feel like crap only a couple days before my wedding.
I went to get my eyebrows waxed a day before I left for my Hawaiian wedding. I was assigned Miriam, and she generally did a good job. HOWEVER, while she was waxing my eyebrows, she proceeded to tell me that my skin looked oily, damaged, and my pores were clogged and tried to sell me on a facial. I told her that I’ve read multiple articles saying that if you’ve never had a facial before, don’t do it before a big event (like my wedding in a couple days!!!) She looked shocked and then told me that she’s never heard of this before and asked where I read that because that «wasn’t true». Common sense, if you’ve never put random stuff on your face before, don’t do it before your wedding! You may be allergic to something and break out. I felt like she was rude and pushy and made me feel very self conscious before my wedding. Towards the end of the eyebrow waxing, I got quiet (because I was annoyed at her multiple comments about my skin) and I think she knew she overstepped her boundaries because she kept trying to offer alternative solutions (like, surprise, suggesting products I could purchase from the lobby.) I ended up not buying any of the products she suggested because I was just so put off by her aggressiveness.
Someone gave me a Red Door Spa gift card as a wedding present and I decided to give this place another try. This time I knew not to go for an eyebrow waxing and decided on a massage. The masseuse was nice and pleasant, and I told her about my awful experience with Miriam. She was shocked at how I was treated and apologized for her behavior. Because of the nice masseuse, this place gets two stars from me.

I made an appointment at the Gaithersburg location for a massage and was asked to arrive early. The appointment was for an hour from when I called so I made sure to leave early to be on time as requested. Upon my arrival I was told my appointment was made for the next day. My therapist would be available if I wanted to wait an hour and a half. I don’t think so. I’ve now lost nearly an hour of my day from driving back and forth and rather than being relaxed I’m now in a terrible mood.
I expect better service from a Red Door Spa. How hard is it to correctly schedule an appointment?

Got a hot stone massage. Good technique, not quite enough pressure even though I asked a couple times. But overall pleasant.
The real issue was the girl at the front desk. She was rude, took forever, and was totally incompetent. I left the spa more annoyed than I showed up. The girl took forever and couldn’t make change. She was trying to figure out how to make it work best for the spa (converting gift card money to cash for a tip) vs giving me my change and letting me get on my way. It took 8 minutes to pay for one service. No joke.
Red door needs to hire less irritating (or at least smarter) people to be the face at the front. I will continue to go to red door for the quality but will likely avoid this location.

Exceptional service on a consistent basis.
Mother and I simply can’t get enough of Red Door Spa. From the moment you enter the door, they go above and beyond to treat you like royalty. Granted the prices are slightly higher than what you would pay at a «regular salon»… It’s worth every penny.
When you enter they take your coat and cater to your comfort needs. You are escorted to an intimate, dimly lit lounge area with refreshments. (Arrive early per confirmation email.) They call it «The Relaxation Room» and feature hot tea assortments, cucumber and lemon water… Even unlimited biscotti. Do venture past the plush lounging area to the back dressing room. There are clean robs and slippers waiting for you and a clever locking mechanism on the lockers. Even if you are only having a mani or pedi… Nobody will stop you from undressing and dawning a robe for the full experience!
Every grooming item you can imagine is at your fingertips… Razors, combs, brushes etc. Full length mirrors for impromptu selfies. Impeccably clean and welcoming. The toilets are secluded and the air smells like raspberries and cream. Take your time and relax in the relaxation room after your services. You will never be rushed!

I had previously written a negative review for this location, but only a few hours after I wrote the review the manager called me and apologized for the whole situation. I was very happy to see that these reviews are taken serious by the company can say I will be going back to Red Door and recommending it to other people.
This place is very clean, neat and the employees are very nice.

First timer at the Red Door and it was nice!
Pro’s:
–Lot’s of frills! Plush robe and slippers when you receive a massage
–Rooms were candle lit, dark, peaceful, and quiet
–VERY friendly service! Felt like a queen!
–Staff was very patient
–They offer lemon or cucumber water, tea, and coffee
–Manicure and pedicure had a plus of the warm cream. It was nice and toasty!
–Warm neck pillow
–Very strict with cell phone usage in facility. Manager came over to a gal who was chatting on her phone. So glad the manager asked her politely to end the call.
Con’s:
–I’m pretty spoiled with my regular massage therapist. The sweet young lady I had was well just sweet! I really like a good rub down, her pressure was too light for me, and she didn’t hit the right spots on me. :-(I was waiting for her to ask how the pressure was but she didn’t so I didn’t bother saying anything. Needless to say I’ll be returning to my regular place for a good rub down.
–Mani’s and pedi’s: didn’t really cut down my cuticles enough. Not sure what they spray on your hands and feet when they start manicuring.
–What’s with asking me if I «need any products»?
All in all, great experience especially for the price you pay for ($$$) but I rather receive quality over the frills. Will return if I keep getting giftcards :-) but won’t go out of my way to visit.

Parking is ample at this Arden spa and checkin at the front desk was easy. The guy who led me back showed me to the locker room, but didn’t explain anything else. I figured it out on my own and was stumped where the water was, but eventually heard someone refilling across the main waiting area. There was water and tea packets, no snacks as I read in a different review. I did like how seating was all separated by pillows and how there were plenty of magazines to read. The waiting room felt zen.
My masseuse came to retrieve me, and walked me to our room. She was very friendly, but overall the prenatal massage was a major disappointment. I was so achy and really hoped for some relief, but all I got was an extremely gentle rubdown. NO pressure whatsoever! No adjustments. I have had a prenatal massage elsewhere that was a complete 180 who considered the way I wrapped around my body pillow and focused on pregnancy target areas. I really didnt even need to fill out the form here cause my aches were not targeted. While I appreciated her friendliness, for the price point I was so disappointed.
I walked out achier and craving a massage more than before.
Also, the shower room I went into (there are two stalls) you couldn’t adjust the temperature – something was not working. No matter which direction I turned, the water was blazingly HOT. I had already lathered up so this was extremely frustrating. I had to splash water carefully on myself to get the suds off and get out.
The spa is designed well and pretty, but with the experience of the rubdown and faulty shower I left frustrated. I will be trying the other Arden locations instead.

I recently experienced their signature facial here. It was amazing. Just what I needed after a long week… make that month. at work.
The room is candle lit with soothing music. You are walking around the spa area in a soft bathrobe. Its great.
I came because I was given a gift certificate. I probally would not come back on my own. Its a bit out of my price range.
