Unless you like boxed, previously frozen deep fried food, lousy service, and ‘light’ drinks — well, go somewhere else. A ‘restaurant’ should at least have servers that will take an order. The guy next to me walked out without his take out order and after 30 mins I gave up on ordering. Someone needs to show the owner/manager the Unilocal reviews — or maybe, they just don’t care?!

I stopped by last for Sunday night football and the only seats available at the bar were in front of a TV turned to the Food Network channel. I asked the bartender to change it to the game, and she said one of the customers requested it. She refused to change it, so I left. WTF??? It’s Sunday Night!!!

ok, so went again with a couple families and kids on a Friday night… 20 minutes for our first round of drinks… order happy hour food for the table… maybe 30 – 40 minutes for this… flagged anyone who walked by to ask for plates, napkins, pitcher refills. Owner walks around without really making eye contact with anyone. Check comes — all happy hour food was charged at regular price, surprise! Fifteen minutes to fix at a $ 25 savings. The servers here are young, clueless and disinterested. This place really could be something. Oh, the food… average.

Been there a few times, and the service has gotten so much better since the summer! The beer selection(DRAFT) is, and has always been, pretty awesome, even if the bartenders are still rude/fake nice. Food is good too. Or at least the burgers are, cause that’s all I ever get there. The prices for them are a bit strange or hard to find, but they’re still pretty cheep comparatively. Overall, I think they should just commit to the dive-bar atmosphere they’ve created and do away with the whole Family Restaurant bit. I will definitely be back and bring some friends. YAYBEER!

We went to Rockafellas and we walked away UNIMPRESSED! we wish we followed our guts once we walked in because we knew something was off. We had so mediocre greasy food with poor service — the portion is too much for one person. If you want to try that place, suggest you to split with your other one. if you just want a beer and watch a game, this place may be it. if you want to bring your family, please reconsider. I do not like the way waitresses wear — it is almost like the hooters waitresses. Of course, I do not want my 3 years old son to think it is OK for women to wear that kind of attire.

If Unilocal ‘forces’ me to rate it one star I will. Under protest. If not, this will be my first zero star rating. Wanted to try the place out, so I convinced my wife and daughter to go. I thought, the neighborhood needs a good place like this, and can definitely support it, so let’s try. Big mistake. The service was not just slow(it took our waitress 25 minutes to get to us) but also rude. Let me explain… We got a table right next to the ping pong table. I thought there might be some fallout from the 6 five year olds playing on it, and I was right. My wife got a ping pong ball in her face a few times. So, when the kids weren’t looking she took the paddle and put it on the chair next to her. This is where the sh*t got real. The waitress came over and asked or the paddle back. My wife said they can have it back as soon as we are done. As they started to argue, I stepped in and said ‘better idea, please just bring our check.’ The waitress then brought the manager over who wanted to do ‘anything he could to accommodate us.’. While I appreciated the effort, I just wanted to leave. He offered another table, or to box our food. ‘no thanks, just our check please’ When the check came, it included our drinks as well as the food we never received. The manager explained that he ‘had to charge us because we ordered it. I’ll have to throw the food away. Someone has to pay for it!’ I was happy to pay for what we received(an iced tea and a sprite) but not for the food we never got. So, even though I can’t comment on the food, the service was terrible. We won’t be going back.

This is a place I want to like because it should be the neighborhood bar for Quince Orchard area but I can’t recommend. The owners have done nice job with the space made over from Fuddruckers but mediocre greasy food with poor service just won’t do it. On several different visits they have always managed to flub something on our order. The menu is large but they do it badly. Good draft beer selection, big TVs all around. If you want to watch a game and drink beer maybe some wings YES. If you want to EAT skip it.

They are close to where I used to work and close to where I now live. The place is huge and hardly ever close to packed. The hours are weird, I was sitting outside enjoying the BEAUTIFUL weather on Tuesday and I looked over I think they are now closed on Mondays and open later like 4 ish most days. I would call/check the website, but, I feel like that is never a good sign for a business. The atmosphere is this weird dichotomy of bar/family restaurant, with little separation from each other. There are kids playing ping pong and people taking shots at the bar. Making it more of a place to stop for a drink after work but not really hang out later like you would at other places. The crowd is slightly older, quiet, and mostly guys which I guess if that’s your thing this is your place. wouldn’t think this would be the place to meet new people. Especially when you look at Dogfish Head or all the places in Rio you can go for Happy Hour. The Happy Hour Specials are fair, $ 1 off drinks and ½ off appetizers. The food… is actually pretty good for what it is, bar food, burgers etc. nothing mind blowing. Certain things better then others. I have had a number of things on the menu. The nachos I found so salty I couldn’t eat them, and that really is saying a lot I am a fan of salty. The coconut shrimp, I was disappointed with the amount of shrimp I received. The fried jalapeño things were very good. The Mac n Cheese is good, but mind you no Hill Country Mac n Cheese, which I know find myself comparing all Mac n Cheeses too. The burgers are good a ton of options, but mine came with chips not fries, which next time I will make sure to ask for fries. The potato wedges I had were good, but more like a baked potato and kind of confused me. They were cut in half and then sort of cut in quarters but not completely cut… wasn’t sure what the point of this was. This isn’t fine dining you aren’t going to be blown away by the presentation or quality of the food but is consistently fair to good each time I go. Is it the kind of place I find myself saying ooo let’s go to Rockafellas… no not really. Will I be back? I’m sure I will.

Okay, I have to jump in because this is whack. The fact that Rockafella’s has as few stars as it does is ridiculous. It’s a family restaurant by day, a bar with great bar food by night. It’s a traditional sort of American corner bar, only much larger, with more room and great people who take an interest in you and your well being. Now, here’s the thing. You gotta know what this place is… it’s a neighborhood watering hole that swings for the moms, dads and kids and families, and it wants the teachers from nearby high schools who live with roommates in the overpriced neighborhoods around it, to come in for drinks after school, etc. And it works. It’s a great place for what it does. Sure, sometimes they get busy… as all successful places do. The bottom line: this place is owned by great people, it does amazing things for people in nearby neighborhoods who want to get away, but don’t want to go down to Rockville Pike or into Gaithersburg itself to a chain restaurant with a bar, and people from Rockville proper make their way over because they get something they can’t get at a fast food restaurant… … a good drink, some tasty food and a ‘neighborhood watering hole’ sorta atmosphere. Haters, I get you aren’t happy. I’m sorry the bands were loud, and your buddy couldn’t get a beer because the place was busy. Don’t hate on the place because your ONE experience blew chunks. Meet me there, let’s get a shot, talk to the owner and people who«get it…» and let’s see how your opinion changes. My last word: The ideal of a neighborhood bar, watering hole, gathering place and a place where you can get some great food for what it is… If you want Capital Grille, you know where it is. If you want Buffalo Wild Wings… well, you know where that is. The people at Rockafellas… they don’t want that. And that’s exactly why this place is successful. Thanks for reading.

I’ll be back. My wife, daughter and I went on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered: Apps O-rings and Sweet Potatoe Fries — the rings were decent, the SP Fries were amazing. Repeat that one. Entrees Chili Burger — Very good, cooked medium rare, as asked. Good size(½ pounder), and matching bun kept all the condiments in place. Wings and Side Salad — the wings get a «meh» from the college age daughter. Salad was very good to her. Jumbalaya and SIde Salad — again, the salad was good, the jumbalaya was a surprise — very good. Service was excellent — Alyssa was our waitress. She kept beverages full, checked in often, and was smiling brightly. She cheerfully corrected a minor error on the bil. Good draft beer selection, too. COLD. We skipped desserts, too full. We actually took home enough left overs to get another meal out of it. I’ll be back.

While on the way to tour a haunted house somewhere in the country, the gang and I stopped by Rockafellas for dinner. Rockafellas is one of those sports bar restaurant that tries to be a «hipster» by offering eclectic menu selection and unique names for each entry. Honey, sometimes simplicity is best. Overall, the food was just medicore. Nothing memorable… just…bland. Plus, all of our side dish was chips and not the usual fries. Uhm… I didn’t realize this was a deli. In addition, our waitress was not attentive to our refills and whatnots. In fact, I recall seeing her 2 or 3 times during our entire dining experience. Other than that, the place had widescreen flat screens all around… with captions! The décor was cool. Nah! Head over to The Greene Turtle or Wild Buffalo Wings or other sports bar for decent meals.

I’ve read the other reviews, and am a little baffled about the reviews of the service. We’ve actually had nothing but great service there, but I know every day can be different. The food is average to good, but appropriate for the price point, especially when its ½ priced appetizers. We really like the Jalepeno slices which are deep fried. Good happy hour, and fun trivia on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Neighborhood restaurant, with a «Sports Bar» feel; where the food is decent. I’ve had the burgers and they have been good enough. The salad, with grilled Tuna I had was a mixed bag. On the positive side, the tuna was cooked perfectly. I was actually blown away by how well it was cooked. The con was that the sauce they POURED over it was so voluminous that it left the salad underneath it virtually inedible. I haven’t decided if I’d return again…

Beyond typical greasy food, I didn’t have high expectations going into the this place, and I was correct. Their wings are alright, their burgers are decent, but whatever you do, don’t get the grill cheese sandwich — that was foul. While the cookies in the kid’s meal are tiny, I’ll say the cookie was tasty, but that’s what happens when you use sugar.

Sad to say, I need to downgrade here. The service is average … even when empty(we were the ONLY ones in there at 12p today). Bar is still cool with a great beer draw and the TV’s always have great sports on … but the food is pricey and seems to have gone downhill(I used to LOVE the turkey burger …) Still OK … but no longer a fan.

This may be a tl: dr kind of review — so here’s the short version: decent, but unimpressive food coupled with the manager/owner’s 4 year old kid was sitting at the bar. Inappropriate and unimpressed. OK. Now onto the tl: dr review: We hadn’t hung out with my husband’s BFF in a while, so when we found ourselves coming back early from another event, we gave him a call see if he wanted to meet up for dinner or drinks. Just a few weeks before, he had come here to Rockafellas to watch the Caps game when the power went out in his neighborhood, so he suggested that we come back here, as it was basic, low-key and close to both our homes. The space used to be Fuddruckers, and I don’t think they did much to change the décor. The front half of the restaurant still had the claw-crane machines that kids will feed in countless of dollars for toys that their parents could have gotten in the discount bin at the dollar store. The back half of the space had a nice big bar with a ton of large flat screen TVs and a stage at the very back for bands. The space was clean, simple and unpretentious… yet, it could have stood a little more«sprucing up». It was clearly an old Fuddrucker’s restaurant, and the ghost of Fuddruckers seemed to still be floating around. However, when we opened up the menu, we were pleasantly surprised with out eclectic the offerings where. For example, in the burgers section, besides the usual sliders, basic burgers(regular, cheese, boca and buffalo), they had«house specialty burgers», such as the Mac Daddy, a bunless burger served with mac and cheese and siracha! That sounded absolutely delish… but I had a few questions. When our server came around, I asked her how was this burger served. She spent several minutes describing the Blue Moon burger… which is completely different(it has a bun and no Mac and Cheese). After pointing out the Mac Daddy to her in the menu, she mumbled something about it was«great», but couldn’t tell me what was in the burger(beyond the menu description) and definitely, not about how it was served. Still, it was fine, I was enchanted with the idea of Mac and Cheese with my burger… with siracha and roasted red peppers. That just sounded like a winning combination of fatty-yumminess. When I got my burger, I was a little disappointed. Although I really enjoyed the mac and cheese(it tasted like Kraft’s Mac and Cheese in Shells… which I *ADORE*, so this is a good thing), but it was runny — so the mac and cheese ended up running all over my plate. The burger, I had ordered«rare» and I received it «medium-well», which wasn’t a huge sin, since it was pretty tender and juicy. All of this I could forgive… what I couldn’t forgive was the lack of Siracha! Noooo! As it took several times to get mustard for our table, I didn’t have the energy to try to get the Siracha. Sad. However, all of this would have been a mediocre, but decent experience, except for my pet peeve… the manager/owner had his 4 year old daughter at the bar, along with the mother of the kid(I believe). Why did this bother me, you ask? Because we were sitting very close to the bar, and this kid kept running around. Adorable kid — but the reason why we sat in the bar area is because we wanted to be AWAY from kids. There’s a whole section at the front of the restaurant — AWAY from the bar area that would have been fine. Also, neither the manager nor the mom seemed to be watching the kid — so the various servers would stop to play/talk to the kid. Including our server. Plus, honestly, a 4 year old at the bar(she was *literally* sitting at the bar… when she was sitting and not running around that is)!!! Really??? That’s just inappropriate. Not to mention that it was totally harshing my vibe. Things were on and off all through the meal, but the manager having his kid at the bar? That was basically the nail in the coffin. Unimpressed.

Ok, ok… It’s kind of a generic space. Nothing too impressive about the atmosphere by any means. They have a good selection of beers on tap and they’ve got enough TVs to cover whatever games you want to watch. The clincher for me though, is the fact they have the hottest wings I have ever eaten in my entire life. This is definitely saying a lot, coming from me. I’m usually not phased by the hottest a restaurant has to offer, but their«Why did I just do that» wings put a hurting on me. I haven’t drank milk in 30 years and I had to chug a 20 oz glass, just to keep my mouth from actually catching fire. Long story short… if you like beer, sports, or really spicy wings, you should check this place out.

Do you ever eat a restaurant that is so sub-par that you don’t even feel like gathering the energy to type a review, even if you love Unilocal? This is that place for me, so I’m going to keep it short and sweet. I got a Groupon for Rockafellas, after checking out their website and menu. The website was the reason I purchased the Groupon and gave this place a shot – it was kind of cool looking, with dark colors and close-up photos of cocktails. I thought this was going to be an «upscale burger place.» Instead of checking out their website, I should have checked out the Unilocal reviews. Oh Unilocal,I had a moment of weakness, I regret forsaking thee. This place is a dump, nothing cool about it at all. They literally moved their restaurant into the Fuddruckers, and it doesn’t look like they made any changes. I was expecting cool, but got Fuddruckers with a different menu. They even have kid’s arcade games and«rides» for toddlers in the front of the dining room. So, of course this is kid friendly, which I wasn’t really expecting. In fact, it is so kid friendly that the staff feels comfortable bringing their kids in while they work. There were kids screaming and running all over the place, hitting my chair, fighting over the games… ugh. The entrance is gross, and they are selling the old Fuddruckers fixin’s bar in the lobby. Yep, just sitting right out, says«For Sale.» It seems like they are still doing work in the restaurant, but in the meantime the atmosphere is crap. Nearly-dead plants hanging in the windows, dirty napkin holders on the table, stained carpet. There was a man, possibly the manager, tightening the screws on the chairs in the dining room. During my meal, 3 feet from my table. Power drill. What the??? See uploaded pic. It’s really too bad because their menu is interesting and has potential. Typical fare, but they have some interesting twists, like mac n cheese on a burger(didn’t say it was healthy!). Think the burger was a flat-top burger, and was overcooked since they asked me how I wanted it(medium). Tasted OK though, on a soft brioche bun. Don’t really feel like writing about the rest of it, because the atmosphere kills it. Thought it was interesting that they have a bakery running out of their restaurant. Could have been good, and smart to outsource their desserts to a professional, but the execution just wasn’t there. Hardly ever say this – don’t bother with the dessert menu. Not so short, and definitely not sweet. Spillage?: Yeah probably, since I was stuffing my face to end the experience as quick as possible. My shirt was an acceptable sacrifice.

I have been here twice in the past 3 weeks for trivia night(Thursdays) and I have been pretty pleased w/my experience both times. Our server was quick to bring us drinks and the food came out within a reasonable amount of time. The food was standard sports bar fare, but it was pretty good as far as that kind of food goes. They have a good selection of burgers, including bison, turkey, and veggie burgers. They have many different flavors of wings w/varying levels of hotness. They also have decent beer, dogfish 60min, woot. There are plenty of TVs for watching sports, and its not ridiculously crowded like the BDubs in Rockville for sporting events.
