History

Established in 2004.

Top to Bottom Services was founded in 2004, like many successful startups, in the owner’s garage. TTB started out offering carpet cleaning and sign post placement services. We quickly recognized that we could add further value to the marketplace by also offering home inspection services, and our inspection quality and customer care quickly became second to none.

We have since enhanced our sign placement service through the introduction of our Sign​Traker​.com online sign inventory, design and scheduling solution for real estate professionals. Poised to now outgrow our second commercial office location, we are excited about our continued growth and thankful to all our wonderful customers for making it possible.

I started TTBS in 2004 out of my home. We have grown to fill our own facility in Gaithersburg. I have been blessed to have found excellent employees along the way and have been fortunate to have been selected by some of the best real estate agents in the area to work with their buyers. We now have two distinct departments that have focused on the providing superior service. I have licensed inspectors providing an entire suite of inspection services, and our real estate sign post department delivers and picks up signs for hundreds of agents throughout Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia. My biggest regret is that I haven’t thanked all the people who have helped me grow my business enough. Saying it one time is simply poor. I truly appreciate all God has given me and those who have trust in our company. Thanks for all your support!

Just got back from our first home insurrection today and it went very well! Our inspector was Doug. He was extremely professional, very knowledgeable, very thorough, and very friendly. Way better than I expected actually. Even though it was 24 degrees and windy he stayed outside still covering every inch around the outside. On the inside he was just as thorough. I would recommend them to everyone!!!

Update: after living in the house for 2 weeks, my opinion of the inspection has gone down quite a bit. Lots of fairly obvious problems like socks stuffed into the cracks of the window AC unit didn’t get noticed, and most importantly the mold inspection I wrote about previously was WRONG! I had done the mold test even though the inspector said he didn’t smell anything, and when the report came back negative I let the issue go. I should not have!!! There is now a terrible odor in the bathroom that is permeating into the rest of the house. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Top to Bottom to anyone.

This was actually our 3rd experience with a home inspection and this was by far the best. Dan was extremely thorough and explained the inspection process to us in terms we could understand. He was so detailed and was just overall fun to work with. I highly recommend TTBS and Dan in particular!

TTBS was recommended to us by our realtor. The company was very professional, from the first interaction to the last email sent. This was for our first home purchase, which is a very daunting experience in and of itself. They shared the same enthusiasm we had for the experience, and were consultative in the services we would request from there. They could have easily told me to pick every service available, but they consulted me in purchasing the services that made sense for the community my home is in and the age/​construction type of the home.
Jim was our inspector, and he was very thorough, including pictures in our final report and suggestions for the smallest/​minor detail all the way up to the biggest issues we face with the property. I highly recommend their services as they were quick and professional!

Dawa was our inspector and she was awesome. Early, professional, knowledgeable, and very quick to turn the report around. Due to some issue, we needed the report the same day, and she had it to us by 3pm (did the inspection at 9:30am).

For my new home, John came by to perform a home inspection and was incredibly insightful about various parts of the house. He not only performed the inspection, but passed on multiple tips about how to make sure the various systems in the home will be well maintained and kept in good working order. I can’t recommend Top to Bottom enough.

just okay, nothing great. Our inspection was for a townhouse in McLean. Our inspector did not know VA laws or requirements, which was disappointing. If you use them for MD, you’ll be better off. I’d use someone else in VA.

We have used Top to Bottom in the past to clean our carpets and have been very happy. This time our just refinished floors were scratched, newly painted walls scuffed up and some moulding damaged. At some point the breaker in the basement flipped off and rather than tell me the guy just switched plugs on a different breaker. All of this to clean 1 room of carpet. Not happy. The carpet is clean — now we have to repair the damage.

I would highly recommend Top to Bottom Services. We had two houses inspected by Jim (the first we decided not to purchase) and were really impressed both times. He is very thorough and is more than happy to answer any question you have. The report you get after is very detailed and the appliance recall check service is a great added benefit.

Jim Parlato with Top to Bottom services is an ok inspector. He missed a number of issues that needed to be addressed in the house.
I would definitely not recomend Top to Bottom services.

I don’t give out 5 stars very often. But seriously people, this is as good as it gets when it comes to home inspections. We had Dan, the owner and I can tell you that the experience was top notch. Right from the beginning he talked us through the process. Along the way he explained everything he was doing and gave us a lot of education on how to repair, maintain and care for each thing.
Bottom line: As good as it gets in home inspection and top notch in just plain ol’ customer service. Kudos TTB Services.

I contacted Top to Bottom Services at the suggestion of my agent. I was thoroughly satisfied with my experience. I would like to add the caveat that my house contract fell through and I did not get the house so my review is only for the inspection process and their excellent customer service, not the long term outcome of the inspection. Having said that:
1) My inspector was extremely thorough and uncovered many problems with the house. He looked at things I never would have thought of.
2) My inspector went onto the roof and also into the attic. He crawled around the beams inside the roof and did not just stick his head up through the entrance.
3) My inspector wrote a great report, full of pictures and details and was more than willing to spend email and phone time after the inspection to discuss and explain where we had questions.
4) During the inspection, my inspector was more than willing to answer my many questions and ‘talk to me like I was stupid’, without treating me like I was stupid.
5) The price was reasonable after pricing several inspectors. They accepted payment by check on site after the inspection.
6) This last comment is for Top to Bottom and not my inspector. Setting up the appointment was easy. Their customer service on the phone was excellent. When I had to reschedule due to a sudden conflict they were able to change the appointment without issue.
For those reasons, I will use them for my next home inspection as we continue to look for a home. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
