So I’m not super sure, but I I think this monastery actually is in Galt, CA, not in Thornton. Unilocal has Thornton in the address, but I put Galt in my GPS when I came here. So if you are trying to come here and cannot find directions using Thornton as the city, put in Galt. I put in 9503 Barber Road, Galt, CA and had no trouble finding my way here. It’s a small, modest monastery that sits between an orchard and a vineyard. The monastery’s land actually seems big, but the temple hall buildings only take up a small portion of the land. The courtyard area appears to be under development still with framework for a stage type of area. There seems to be nothing around here but orchards, fields, and vineyards, so it’s very quiet up here. Immediately when we parked our car, the temple’s dog came up to greet us. The temple’s dog is super friendly to everyone. We came here to visit a monk who had recently flew over here from Vietnam. He was very kind and had lengthy discussions with my father. The ladies here who tend to the monastery were really nice as well.
