Solid sushi spot in Garden City. Had the sashimi platter for one. Fairly priced and the sushi was a diverse presentation that you don’t typically get with traditional sashimi platters at Japenese restaurants. Pretty sure there was 5 – 6 different types of fish. Would go here again.

Went here today(5−5−16) with my cousin for lunch. We went around 12:40pm. There were few occupied tables. The food was fresh, almost too fresh. The sushi still had bones inside it and made some of my bites unpleasant(hence the 3 stars). The miso soup was brought out luke warm — I guess, so as, not to burn one’s palate. But I would have preferred to see the steam from a hot dish exposed. The service was very good and attentive. Great wa(i)ter service too! There was a table of 6 in the front corner and they were celebrating a birthday. They overly blasted music to go with the theme and they did it twice because they messed up the first round so the party of 6 asked them to replay it again. The really should think about toning it down so that people who are not there for a birthday can hear themselves speak and continue to speak to one another. Ambiance is dark yet calming. The room temperature was more warm than cold, which was a huge plus for me. I would go back again, but I’ll have to remember to watch for bones!

I really wanted to like this place but it was just ok and I don’t think I’ll be coming back. The resturant was clean and the décor was really nice but the food was not up to par for me. The sex and the city roll was lacking flavor and the other rolls we got were meh. My husband got the spicy lobster miso soup which was the only thing that was really good.

Really good sushi in the area. The service is good and the menu offers a wide variety of food and drinks. The inside of the resturant is modern and well kept. The only reason why I don’t give Kaji a 5-star review is because the windows allow a strong breeze to come from the outside and it can get really cold inside the restaurant near that window area. All in all, good resturant and a good experience! Must try.

I have been to this restaurant before numerous times. I have ordered from this place before also and they have delivered but today will be the last time I will ever dine in there again. I wanted to try something new and I asked the waiter about the Giants roll. Which included lobster meat in a roll with seared beef around it. I told the waiter I wanted it cooked more but he took that as giving me a plate of raw beef. As soon as he brought it out I said«oh it’s raw?» And he says yes I said i wanted it cooked. He took the plate back and brought it out again and it was lightly seared and I can still see red raw meat on my sushi. I told him again it was still raw. He apologized and took it back to bring out still slightly cooked meat. I took a bite he watched me and asked me how was it. I told him it was alright but I didn’t like it. I ordered one more thing and he asked me if I wanted the sushi I told him no because I didn’t like it. So when it was time to pay the bill they charged me for the entrée that I definitely didn’t eat and you knew I didn’t like it. I asked the waiter I have to pay for a dish I didn’t like? He said well yes because we made it and it was expensive. Is $ 16 expensive? No it’s not and the face you tried to give me that speech was wrong. If you go to any restaurant and a consumer doesn’t like the dish the manager or owner will go talk to the customer and apologize for them not liking it and take it off their bill. But they didn’t want to do that they wanted me to pay for something I didn’t like and take it home with me. So I asked is there the owner or manager available, he goes oh they aren’t here. Oh okay well call them or who opened the store because there is someone in charge. The pregnant Asian woman who watch the whole time and didn’t say anything wanted to act like a manager and try to give me a speech about how expensive it was. I told her I don’t want to hear that because I am not in the wrong and I didn’t like the food. She goes to say well we still have the roll in the back we can cook it for you again. I told her NO I DONOTWANTTHAT. I DIDNTLIKEITANDYOUSAWTHEWHILETIMEOFHIMBRINGINGMERAWMEAT. She is gonna then tell me oh the meat is cooked. I said really well bring the plate back out so I can show you how raw it is. She shut up and walked away. She then comes back and says she can give my half price on the entrée. NO I AMNOTPAYINGFORSOMETHING I DIDN’t eat. Then they come out with the sushi well done like I had asked for in the beginning and tell me to take the food. I straight told them no. Call your manager now. The Caucasian woman sitting next to me told them they were wrong for what they were doing and that I was right. If a consumer doesn’t like the food and you tried to make it right then you don’t charge them for it. ATALL! So when the Caucasian woman opened her mouth the pregnant Asian woman took the bill and fixed it. I straight told them that that is disgusting how you treated me and I will definitely be writing a review on this restaurant. Plus I will never come back or order from you guys again. When she heard me say that she gonna call me a bitch and kept walking. Oh that’s really nice of you to say. If this is how you guys run an establishment, then everyone needs to know how disgusting you have treated me especially a woman of color. If that Caucasian woman didn’t open her mouth I would have been there still arguing with them and they knew they was wrong. I will be posting this everywhere so people will see how your true colors are! Signed. Kamar

Ordered food tonight for me and my family. Delivered one whole habachi meal wrong. Called them to say we ordered salmon not shrimp and they said ok we will pick up the shrimp and send you the salmon after 5 minutes on the phone — we would have had to wait another 45 minutes and everyone else’s meal was already here and correct. Really wanted to eat altogether on New Years Eve. My family and I thought the food was good but it left a sour taste in my mouth the way they wanted to solve the problem. Won’t call them again. Ordered 5 meals and not going to go back.

Excellent sushi spot in Garden City. Great for groups and the rolls are delicious! Highly recommend the fresh dragon roll and the standard salmon/avocado was delicious as well. If you’re craving sushi and happen to be in Garden City, then look no further. Highly recommend this place!

Got a delivery. Came like 25 minutes late. Ordered hot apps, sushi, sashimi, and a salad. Everything was good. Fish was fresh. Sashimi appetizer — tuna, salmon, and two white fishes — I think sea bass and halibut. Fresh and nicely cut. 9 pieces total Shrimp Tempura appetizer — 2 pieces on menu. If you ask them for no vegetables, they’ll give you three pieces instead of two. Edamame — standards. Could’ve used a few more sprinkles of salt Roasted Duck salad — my wife is a duck eater, and said this was a good portion and the duck was cooked nice. Pretty pleased overall. Would order from them again.

Being that there are 3 sushi places right in a row in this location, we picked this one at random. That being said, I think we made the right choice! Quick and attentive service, clean and pleasant ambiance, and a TON of menu options. We ordered a ton of rolls — all of which were delicious. The best part was how every member of their staff said goodbye and thank you on our way out. The cooks even came out of the kitchen to say thanks! It was adorable. I will DEFINITELY be returning — and you should too!

Ordered takeout from here via GrubHub when back visiting family in NY. Pleasant delivery person delivered within estimated delivery window on all three occasions. Order correct on all three occasions. Loved their Nabe Yaki Udon. Shrimp Tempura was also crisp and flavorful. Chicken teriyaki was tender and well-prepared but, a milder flavor than I prefer. All around, still a solid option for the area.

Love love love this place. The food is really delicious and authentic. I went with my coworker for lunch and we were seated immediately. We ordered an appetizer and our entrées and the only thing bad I could say about this restaurant is that it took them a while to bring us our food. I ordered the chicken teriyaki lunch bento box with the harumaki appetizer which is like an eggroll. The food was very delicious and I will definitely return at another time.

Been here for 15 minutes waiting for a to-go order. Second time getting lunch and if it tastes the same then it’s worth the wait! The portions are really good and lunch prices aren’t unreasonable. I have tried the steak hibachi lunches, next time sushi.

First I’d like to start with my sever Krystal who was very sweet, helpful and super attentive. She checked on me throughout every process of my meal to make sure I was happy. I started with the German Riesling, which ummm… wasn’t the best, but it started to taste good after the first 2 glasses, lol. I started with the shumai(shrimp dumplings) which were small, delicate and juicy. The best I’ve had so far, they tasted fresh as opposed to the premade ones as some places sell(meaning straight out the microwave) The Spicy tuna appetizer over guacamole was a first for me! And I must say… I would definitely do it again and again. It was simply full of pure yummy goodness . The oysters sautéed in garlic was in a class by itself!!! Lightly fried I guess in a tempura batter and sat on the shell in a rich sauce that was just mind blowing and tongue teasing I opted for a few pieces of sushi as well, the Tomago, Tobiko, Shrimp, Kani and Yellowtail was as fresh I expected so no disappointments. The place is very quaint, not too loud. And the presentation of everything was truly very nice. Hmmm…on to my dinner… I had the surf and turf, lobster tail, filet mignon, shrimps with asparagus and broccoli with an order of the best shrimp fried rice ever! They did a great job with the steak, it literally melted in my mouth everything on the plate was perfectly seasoned. My friend had something similar but instead of steak scallops. The scallops were tender and sweet. Surprisingly I made it to desert I tried the fried ice cream and it was so yummy . I will be going back to this place again and you guys should check it out too. Wait…the restroom super clean and fresh. The sink was very unique. But be careful washing hands in there. It was like a clever little waterfall that you leave you soaking wet, lol. I know because I surely got splashed

Kaji is a place that I have been to a few times since it opened. It also has delivery to my house which is a bonus with the lack of good delivery options in the area. If you place your order online you get 15% off which is also nice. I also would go to eat here if I am in the area and want a quick sushi meal — never had trouble getting a seat. The décor is the same generic«loungey» look, along with brightly colored lights to complement the dark wood tones. It is a look that his been replicated in almost every other japanese/sushi/asian fusion place that has opened recently. You will recognize it immediately if you are a fan of going out to eat sushi. The fish is the same quality that is offered in so many other LI sushi spots. The plus here is that they don’t kill their rolls with a ton of rice and the cuts are fairly decently sized. They have all the«specialty rolls» that are offered in so many other places — you know the ones that are swimming in spicy mayo and eel sauce to overpower any other flavors going on here. The Naruto roll is a nice simple rice-less roll. Generally don’t have delivery issues, but on the last one I ordered 3 hours in advance for a set delivery time. It arrived a half hour late. Not cool when we have to rush to the city to make a show. They also charge you extra for any sushi meal substitution(ex Spicy tuna roll to Tuna with avocado roll) although the rolls are the same price on the menu. They also forgot an item. This is a place that would probably get 2 stars from me if not for the fact they deliver with a discount and the rolls have less rice then other places I have been to. The décor, the menu and the service is just too generic. Its all been done before. Maybe I’m just too demanding. Maybe I’m just like my father too bold. Maybe I’m just like my mother. She’s never satisfied.

The Quick: A trendy sushi spot on Long Island with extremely fresh food, young and hip vibe, and a great lunch special. The Details: Kaji is just a really good sushi spot, not much more to say. There are actually three sushi restaurants on the same block in Garden City… This one is definitely the most trendy and interesting spot. Kaji is a great spot to grab lunch on the avenue as well as good date spot on Long Island. I always enjoy the food here and the staff is accommodating. The Damage: Lunch specials range from $ 10-$ 15 which I think is a great deal.

I’ve only tried take out from this restaurant. The food is extremely fresh and the service is terrific! I am always met with the warmest smiles. The lunch special is what I usually go for, you really can’t beat 3 sushi rolls for $ 12.00!!! My usuals are: Spicy tuna roll Spicy salmon roll Philadelphia roll Sweet potato roll Salmon Avocado roll The décor is very modern and I often enjoy sitting at the bar while waiting for my food. The parking is not the best since it is located on a street with only street parking. They may have better parking options but so far, I have been lucky enough to find street parking during the weekday lunch hours. I really like the food here and I love the service. I will be returning soon.

Welcome to Garden City where the restaurants are a plenty and you go on your trusty Unilocal app to find something to eat! Enter Kaji Sushi & Lounge! Located right next door to Plancha Tapas & Wine Bar I was tempted to leave my party and go to Plancha by myself. If I did happen to go to Plancha I would’ve ordered the bone marrow and patatas bravas with a glass of wine and I would’ve been satisfied to put it lightly. Anyway… back to my review of Kaji. If I lived in the area this would definitely be one of my sushi spots other than Kotobuki in Roslyn. I’m just saying… Kotobuki has a very strong and forceful hold on my heart. Though I am not complaining by any means. Don’t worry Kotobuki the feeling is mutual. Kaji reminds me of going for sushi in the city. It’s very trendy and the atmosphere was neat with the lights. We ordered for the four of us: * Rock Shrimp * Spicy Tuna Gyoza * Black Pepper Tuna * Sex On The Beach Roll * Salmon & Avocado Roll * Tiger Roll * California Roll * Chicken & Shrimp Hibachi Dinner which came with soup, salad, and fried rice Out of everything that we ordered… I would come back in a heartbeat for the Spicy Tuna Gyoza & the Sex On The Beach Roll. The service was also very polite & prompt. FYI: The gyoza is not your typical Japanese gyoza. It is more like a miniature sack but seriously delicious! I highly recommend this place if you’re in the Garden City area and you’re on the hunt for some good Japanese food.
