Baby Steps Family Child Care

Very disappointing. This review is a ‘pre-​review’ as my daughter never made it to this daycare. I went and checked out the daycare and interviewed Corrine. The facility is nice and protected in the back of her home. The staff seemed friendly and the kids there seemed happy. There are two areas, one for infants and one for older kids.
Unfortunately I wasn’t 100% sure if my schedule would have me be full time or part time for the day care needs. I told her I was interested in the spot, but would let her know if I wanted full time or part time once I knew. I went right before her two week holiday break, and didn’t want to bother her on her vacation, so I contacted her first thing on her first day back. Only to find out that she gave the spot away… over break?! I need somewhere for my daughter to go in 1 week… She said she would try and see if she could make it work and said she would give me a call back later that day or the next day… I’m sitting here 36 hours later still waiting. Needless to say, I luckily found a place that will take my daughter– for less money too. So I guess it was a win for me.
To end the review, if you want to secure your spot… make it obvious and put money down or something to secure your spot!

Baby Steps is a great place. For multiple reasons.
First, the environment is like that of a caring and safe home. The teachers actually ask questions like «Was your child having trouble sleeping last night?» when they notice that your child doesn’t seem to have a lot of energy in the morning. The concern in the staff for the children is genuine. I’m always willing to listen to them when they have a concern no matter how small it is because it helps me take care of my son better.
Second. The person in charge, Corinne, is very considerate and patient person. I’ve had multiple emergencies that gave me no choice but to ask her if my son could stay longer in the day. My requests were not met with frustrated answers or angry comments. Her tone was usually that of concern for what is going on. I had no problem paying extra for my short notice requests because I know it would be worth the money. She has also been very patient with my misunderstanding of some of their policies. I’ve only ever dealt with a few people as patient and as concise as her.
Third, the staff are friendly and genuine. My son is comfortable with all of them and my son never cried when I left him there when I had to go to work or school. My son also learned a lot from them and had helped him increase his vocabulary which helped me avoid having to send him to speech therapy.
Furthermore, their program is great. Helping my son cultivate his social, artistic, and physical sides. It’s always a pleasure to see that my son had been participating in art projects and is learning many essential things at his age (2 years).
I recommend this place to anyone who needs their little ones taken care of. It is sad that I have to move to VA. My son loves it here and I feel bad for having to make him leave it behind.

Wonderful daycare! My older son started going there when he was 2 years old and went there until he started kindergarden. My younger son has been going there since he was 8 weeks old and is 4 and still going here. It is not like a normal daycare it is more like having family watch you children. I would recommend this daycare to everyone.
