Amazing little gem in garden grove! I have not had a hair cut in almost 5 years, so walking into a salon with the intention of getting a drastic cut was too overwhelming. I was sitting in the waiting area, thinking to myself that is it still not too late to just walk out. Kc then became available and got my mental nervousness under control. Him and Mo are completely amazing. Kc took his time and assured to me that everything was going to turn out just fine. I am definitely going to be coming back and referring people to this amazing establishment. When I went back to get my sisters hair cut, Mo even offered to give my son a hair cut on the house, since it was going to be a minor cut (to look spiffy for his school pictures). They are completely amazing and explain everything that they will be doing to you to the teethAmazing! Amazing!

Love love love this place. I have thick curly hair (not to mention damaged) and wanted to achieve a blonde/​brown look. I only described to KC what I wanted and he blew my expectations! I love my new blondish hair, it goes great with my skin tone! Trust KC with your hair! And if you’re skeptical just get a consultation and talk about your best options! I trust no one else with my hair but KC!

I’m very disappointed with the service of this salon. I called the day before and made an appointment for 11:30 but when I came in the next day ON TIME for my appointment, I was not actually helped until 12:30. Another client came in after I did, her appointment was at 12, and she was helped before I was! I guess she was a regular or something and deserves more prompt service than a new guest ???
Also, I called the day before to inquire about my hair. It’s been bleached blonde and I was hoping to get it a slightly darker more natural looking dirty blonde color without it fading out quickly. The staff reassured me they could dye it without it fading out too quickly. The next day when I went in for my appointment, Once I finally sat down in the chair, they told me it’s going to fade… I said, but you told me you could dye it so that it wouldn’t fade too quickly?!? I felt like they just wanted to lure me into their salon so they could get the business from me rather than tell me the truth about the situation of my hair. They again reassured me that it wouldn’t fade too quickly because they would use a permanent dye rather than a semi-​permanent dye. it’s only been a week and my hair is completely faded back to the color it was when I went in to see them.
Also, after my hair was dyed and cut, I think it was KC who styled it, did not do a good job. It was not even done well. It was really frizzy.
Lastly, I normally don’t pay attention to the fact if only Asians or whites go to a particular salon. I am a white person, but I’m not racist at all — I have a Vietnamese room mate and I live in the Vietnamese community and I don’t even think about what color or race the people around me are– I’m not like that. But this salon seems to care what race you are because they asked about why I don’t go to a white person Salon with my blonde hair? I guess for now on I will be going to a «white person’s» salon!!!

KC did an amazing job at with cut and color. At first it was weird seeing my hair with violet, but it turned out pretty nice. Subtle yet bright. Thanks!

If you ever come to this salon, you will never regret it! Mo is an amazing hairstylists. She gave me advice on how to take good care of my dead ass hair. Throughout the process of trimming my hair, Mo would try to get to know you and talk to you so you don’t feel bored. She knows her beauty stuff well because she chose the perfect hair cut for me and i’m in love! Thank you mo :)

I’ve been here a couple times now and this place is incredible!
First time I went it with long, black, resilient virgin hair and asked for a rose gold balayage. Great customer service: they wanna ensure you’re making a very well informed decision when making drastic decisions on your hair and try their best to accommodate for everything you want. Sat with lightener in my hair for hours and they offered to feed me GORGEOUS result and no breakage! And prices were considerably affordable.
So I decided I would come again, lighten my hair some more and dye it pink. I was super wishy washy about what kind of pink I wanted and KC concocted some mixture so that it would directly apply as a deep mulberry pink, and wash out to a strawberry pink, then a pastel pink, and eventually a rose gold. Basically covered all bases. Minimal amount of breakage this time around but I have been absolutely loving the color!
KC is my go-​to now but they’re all fantastic. Strongly recommend.

Came here for my appointment on time. They’re behind, so I wait around for an hour and a half. A customer comes in after me and though she is on time for her appointment, they tell her that they are behind today. She would have to wait for 20 minutes. She storms out and seems very upset.
Usually when I go to salons, they take a look at my hair as it is (right when I walk in, dry hair). They ask me how I usually style my hair, they ask me what sort of products I use. After they look at my hair, they ask me what I want to have done. They let me know what will work for my hair type and what will not. Then, they wash my hair. However, in this case, they brought me straight to the sink to wash my hair.
After my hair is wet and brushed back, the hairdresser asks me what I want. I tell her. I let her know that my hair is curly, so she may need to leave it an inch or so longer than the length I’m shooting for, since curlier hair retracts about an inch or so after it dries. She says, «Ok». She cuts my hair. Afterwards, she starts drying my hair.
My hair is half dried when she tells the hairdresser next to me to finish drying my hair. He acknowledges her and she leaves me there. I sit there with damp hair, flat against my skull. Meanwhile, the other hairdresser keeps chatting away with the customer he’s working on. He asks her if she would like it if he curled her hair for her. She seems surprised by the suggestion and says, «Oh ok? Sure?». He really takes his time with her. Treats her really nicely. Finally, after some time, he comes over to me. He asks me if my hair has a perm. I tell him my hair is naturally curly. He blowdries my hair using a roundbrush and a blowdryer. He leaves the sides of my hair curly, while leaving the rest of my hair straight. Looks pretty awful at this point. My hair is flat and curly on the sides of my head. It does not look flattering at all. He says, «Ok! Done!».
He did not use any products to style my hair. He just left it that way after he blowdried it. So, my hair became frizzy later. Overall, I felt as though I was being rushed out the door. The customers who were paying more money (having their hair colored and getting other treatments done) were given more time and effort. I suppose if you aren’t planning on spending a lot of money, don’t expect them to spend a lot of time with you. They also appear to try and become buddies with customers (though not in a sincere way, and act particularly friendly with the big spenders), which explains the high rating for this salon. But, it is not an indication of the quality (at least based on what I experienced). My haircut was nothing special. I feel like any salon could’ve done the same haircut. Will not be coming back. Super disappointed because I thought this place was going to be good.

I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars! I am blown away by the amazing customer service I received yesterday. Long story short, my cousin, sister and I had to get our hair done last minute for a wedding. After going to Supercuts (won’t even get into that experience), we stumbled upon this place. The two ladies that helped us did an incredible job getting us ready last minute at an extremely affordable price. The salon wasn’t busy so they even let all of us change and do our makeup. Give this place a try and you won’t be disappointed. I live in Temecula and will make this 50 mile commute for all of my hair needs from now on!
By the way, ask for Mo and Lisa (I hope those are their names). They’re mother and daughter and are SO fun to be around. They pay close attention to detail and make sure you’re comfortable the whole time!

I live in NorCal and when I visit home in OC; it’s always around the perfect time I need a touch up or cut. Mo, Kc, and Lisa know how to manage my cuts and highlights so whenever a friend asks me who’s the best for cuts or dyes; my answer is ALL.
I’ve referred my little cousin here, my former coworker and a few friends to come to this salon and to trust me about this salon! I always say. look at their Unilocal.They have a 5-​Star review after 3 months of being open and look at the number of reviews since January!
The girls I have referred thank me because their hair came out beautiful! I respond to them with «I told you so.» Hahaha

My first time getting my hair done properly at a salon, and what can I say, I am amazed at how GORGEOUS my hair turns out. KC did an excellent job on getting rid of evenly distributed color and orange-​ness! He knows exactly how to get you the color you want, and cares about your hair’s condition. The staffs were super friendly & engaging throughout the process! It’s worth the wait, & totally worth the price you pay for! I love my hair dearly & I can’t thank the staffs enough! Also, they have this new serum that makes your hair super soft & shine!

Great service! Got my hair done by KC, and he was able to give me some feedbacks on the colors that I wanted. I’d definitely come back to KC for future haircuts/​dyed!

I only trust this place to do my hair. They’re very professional. My 1^st session done by KC and then added more color for my 2^nd session which was done by Mo. I always end up happy right afterwards. I always get good compliments for my hair. Highly Recommended!

I’d definitely pay mo’ money for my stylist, Mo.
Let’s say you’ll jump right in and specifically ask for her on your appointment. Don’t get too caught up with her natural gabbing, genuinely friendly yet blunt demeanor, and random offerings of chocolate. This lady is knowledgeable, methodical, AND passionate for each clients’ locks, with a heavy emphasis on keeping hair healthy — or least make it look healthy.
I learned from her that to go from my belayage hair to the all-​over brunette look (again), my go-​to hair treatment was permanent color only on my natural/​virgin strands, and then use toning (aka semi-​permanent) on the colored strands to minimize damage and adhere to that healthy credo. Most importantly, she created the color I wanted in my hair simply by showing her a picture of some model’s look. With that said and the necessary haircut especially because of my dreadfully arid ends, I overall paid $ 65 (excluding tip and not using any coupons).
I highly recommend making an appointment with Mo, or actually go to any of the stylists working in this family-​owned business, i.e. the co-owner/Mo’s nephew, KC. P. S. they offer blow dry sessions: $ 15 for blow dry alone, and $ 25 for blow dry + hair wash. And it looks like I finally found my signature hair person!

Loooooooooove this place! I usually always just hop from one salon to another because I haven’t found a hair stylist who I really care for, but Mo is awesome! I love how careful and passionate she is at her craft. Everything she does is so symmetrical and y’all know how the brain loves symmetry! I showed her the picture of how I wanted my bangs and she replicated it exactly the way I wanted it. Also, they have free bangs trimming here! How awesome is that?
Easy to book appointments. Clean and modern facility. Very up to date on their hair styling technique and methods. The haircut was $ 25 dollars and I tipped her $ 15 because I loved it. I think I’ve found my permanent hair stylist!

I’ve been going to my mother’s salon lady for a long time and always kept with the same haircut for years since she always advise against my suggestions for something new. So when KC opened his salon, I decided to try something new and what better way to do it then with a friend I trust. He fixed my bangs and helped me with better solutions to take care of my hair.
I returned two weeks later to cut my hair a line bob with hidden hair dye under. I was nervous at first cutting it short but because I know it’s KC, it came out beautiful !

My hair stylist went on maternity leave so naturally, I turned to Unilocal to help me figure out who could help refresh my desperately dry and boring hair.
With all 5 star reviews, Shear Steele seemed like a good option. It was easy to make an appointment and I booked a Friday 10am time slot with Mo.
I didn’t really know what to expect but I walked into the Salon just as they were opening. It was a little awkward at first because they were still setting up different stations, and while I was being introduced to Mo for my consultation, she was halfway thinking and halfway talking to someone else about cleaning different stations a certain way. My consultation was surprisingly technical. At most other salons I’ve gone to, I show them a photo of what I like, they tell me if they can do it or make suggestions, and we are on our way. Mo, however, showed me a book with a whole spectrum of colors of what they have, explaining it in numbers and letters that I didn’t really understand. After some time flipping and asking questions, I was able to come up with an answer for her.
My hair was a brown to blonde ombré, and I had progressively been going lighter and lighter in the last year and a half. I wanted to go to ash blonde but my hair just had a warm tone that kept coming back. I was ready to go back to darker hair and was looking to dye it a nice chocolate brown or chestnut brown, but not completely back to my natural dark brown hair color. Mo recommended something inbetween and we decided on a java color hair gloss. She explained that this would be semi-​permanent and a better option than dying it back to brown, in case I changed my mind and wanted to go light again in a few months. (Great idea, Mo!)
My appointment was quick and easy. Mo did my hair gloss, and gave me a great layered cut. I transformed from a dry blonde ombré mess to a sleek java brown beauty. I was pleasantly surprised by the prices! Hair cut for women $ 25!!! and hair color $ 30 for gloss!!! I could not believe it. I have not walked out of a salon paying less than $ 100… for… years.
During the process, I learned that Mo not only owns the salon, but she also believes in affordable hair cuts for all. She stands behind the quality of her work, and tries to find the best solution for her clients to keep their hair healthy. I really respect the integrity of her business.

Fair prices, great stylists, and they’re freaking heroes! My boyfriend called in around 2:30 to make an appointment for me to fix the disaster on my head and they told me to come in at 4:15. They informed my boyfriend they’d assess my hair before moving forward. KC was my saving grace! I came in with a disaster of a head and left an ashy goddess. I had green, blue, grey and all kinds of warm, brassy tones. It was a nightmare. I couldn’t even look in the mirror. I was freaking out because my birthday is two days and I was worried no one would fix my hair for me. I was in by 4:15 and out before 7!
KC walked me through the process and taught me what shampoos, conditioners, and treatments to use. I am so grateful for his help. KC is an inspiration! He’s only 22 and already owns a hair salon. He is brilliant and I love that he knows what will or will not look good on you. He makes kind suggestions and tells it to you like it is. I really value him as a hairstylist.
I am never going anywhere ever again. Thank you, KC, for making sure I’m perfect for my 22^nd birthday!

PROS: Clean work stations, friendly staff upon arrival, A SNACKS TABLE, more than reasonable pricing, very attentive and detail-​oriented stylists.
CONS: Busy public parking lot on weekends.

I’ve had color/​cuts done a million times but this place is definitely one of my favorites for a number of reasons: The staff is very friendly, they are careful with their work, and they actually listen to you (For both hair style requests and when you’re going off on how terrible your ex was to you while they’re cutting your hair)!
My last color job had turned brassy and my bangs had grown out way beyond what can be considered bangs, so I came to Lisa and KC for a tag team effort: Lisa toned my already bleached/​dyed hair to give it the color I actually wanted and KC did my cut. Both turned out much better than I could have asked for because of their attention to detail and expert advice. I went from a yellow/​wanna-​be ABG look to a more polished toffee color and subtle A-​line that all of my patients complimented the next day at work!
I came on a Saturday so although the parking lot was busy, I was so glad I came in! Everything took about an hour and a half total but it went by so fast with the fun staff and the complimentary snack table they have for clients. In any other salon, I’d question whether or not I’d want a cinnamon bun when there’s pieces of hair flying about and strong chemical smells but this place is so clean that I dived right into that snack table and then right into the chair to talk about boys.
Overall, I had a great experience here and I will be coming back soon to try a new look since I know I can trust the team here. I’d recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a reasonably priced place for cut/​color with experts who will give you what you want but BETTER with their professional experience.

I can’t emphasize how much I love my new hair. I went here to get a haircut + ash blonde ombré balayage, and I am so so so happy for the first time walking out of a hair salon. Not only do I feel revived, but I also feel so darn relieved to know I was in good hands. To be honest, I’m very doubtful, and the workers gained my trust very quickly with their professional and down to earth personalities and the result that I got! I love love love this place and will probably come back. 10 stars for their patient, down to earth and professional attitudes while working on my hair, their honesty, and the wonderful work they make. Also thanks for being so easy to talk to. I loved communicating with everyone!
One more thing! They damaged no part of my hair and that is something to be amazed by!

Oh man where do I even start… Ok well basically I had been searching for MONTHS for someplace to get my hair dyed a dusty ash pink… but to no avail. That is until my best friend recommended me to see KC and right away I did my research by stalking the ig, fb and Unilocal reviews (you know how it is). They were 5 stars in every way possible so I was so excited I booked an appointment with KC right away.
He was very honest and said that he didn’t want to completely kill my hair in one go which I absolutely appreciated so we did my hair in 2 sessions. I immediately knew this was the place I was gonna come back to over and over again from now on!
Once KC saw me he was shocked at how my bad dye job and hair was hacked courtesy to this terrible salon called Bao. I was crying interally and explained that was why I kept my hair up or in braids since then because I was so self conscious. He definitely helped make me feel better about it by throwing in suggestions here and there about what to do when my hair grows out more and such and I loved that~ I still dislike the cut I had received months ago but its definitely not as bad now that KC fixed it up a bit and that I have a gorgeous new dye job to match!
It took about 12hrs in total I believe to get my hair to how it was now. Omg. Such a time consuming process! Somehow by the time my hair was finished it still ended up super soft in the end! It didn’t feel as damaged at all as I was expecting! I was super happy about that~
Omg I absolutely LOVE KC (he is now my astro sign bff)!! He did such an amazing job with my disastrous hair and worked with it~ Even my boyfriend and his best friend wanted to get their hair done once they saw me! I gave them KC’s quote and they are definitely considering it!
I also need to mention that I had NO IDEA my scalp was highly sensitive until KC brought it up. He and Lisa took special care in making sure my scalp was ok and making sure it wasn’t irritated or burning which I really appreciate. The price I paid here also is the cheapest I had ever seen in any salons that I had researched before also. and the way that Lisa and KC never rushed through finishing my hair and are just so detail oriented! I had never felt more welcomed and at home at a salon until I came here.
