I went to order a christmas log cake and the service was really great. I’m giving them 4 stars because everyone is mainly vietnamese speakers so if you don’t speak the language it’s a little harder to communicate. The cake was very beautiful and tasted great! It was $ 28 bucks for a medium sized one which is a pretty good price considering everywhere else is so expensive. I had to reschedule the day I was picking it up because I forgot and the lady was very nice about it, no trouble at all. I would recommend this place for every cake aside from ice cream cakes. They also sell drinks and other things too.

We booked our wedding cake almost a year in advance. we went in and met with someone and made an appointment for a tasting where she showed us literally 100 pictures of different styled wedding cakes. she was SUPER friendly and knowledgeable with all things wedding cake.
after sitting in the shop for what felt like an hour, we finally put in our order. the top tier was going to be a chocolate sponge cake with mocha and a quilted pattern, number 2 was vanilla with mocha and a lace pattern, 3 was chocolate with strawberries covered in sparkling sugar, and four was vanilla with strawberries and wrapped in lace.
when i came to drop off my ribbon, lace, and flowers, they double checked the design with me but not the flavors… i know, i should have double checked.
the day after, when we got our cake, it was absolutely beautiful. the decorations looked amazing and the flowers were done just how i wanted. when it came time to cut the cake, i realized it was the wrong flavor. the entire cake was done with the vanilla sponge. although i let it go because i literally only had one bite, it still upset me that they got the flavors wrong!
overall, i would recommend for a light cake that guests will eat even after a full 8 course meal. it was priced very well and even though there was a slight mishap, i was still very happy with how it turned out.

Very cute and well organized bakery! I initially came here to buy their banh bao’s (steam buns) whenever I looked that them, they looked old. Very sorry looking! I bought 1 to try before purchasing a ton! I’m happy I didn’t buy them in bulk because they were not as good as expected. I also bought some Chinese sausage which has no msg. What I like about bakeries like this is they they make their stuff in house. Sadly the Chinese sausage tasted like pure fat with sugar. I was better save 8 $ lol.

Sorry for writing a late review … I ordered my cake her for my wedding … 8÷21÷5… We are so satisfied with our cake! This place is so adorable and the cake is delicious! All of our guest loved it!!! Most cake are sweet… But man this cake was not as sweet that people want second! Fresh strawberries and coconut fillings and the cake looked perfect! They definitely made the cake I wanted! This place is very affordable people! Stop looking and order your cake here!

Went in and left with a bag of shrimp chips, just to keep my kids from whining.
Didn’t see anything else worth buying. They had a good selection of moon cakes and jerky and stuff, but it was mostly prepackaged stuff, that you could probably get at any Asian market. Macarons looked decent, and they were cheaper there than the French bakery a couple of doors down, but I didn’t try one.

They have cakes ready made for pick up — coconut, durian, strawberry, mocha in the fridge. I decided to go for a mocha cake but i noticed all the cakes had flowers on them. I asked the lady if she can take the flowers off the mocha cake as it wasnt for a female. The lady was contemplating, but she ended up doing it. I asked to put «Happy Birthday» on it and she wrote it in pink. I asked her why is it in pink. And she said it is red. Apparently I don’t know my colors… so I asked it to be changed to blue or for it to be more red. She then used blue over the pink… it looked messy! Customer service sucks here, she then rushed me out like I was an inconvenience. I will never pay 28 bucks for this cake again.

Friendliest Van’s I have been to, I liked the other 3, but this one, I am really starting to dig.
I came back for more strong coffee candy, Kopico.
However, I also purchased a Hello Kitty pastry for my nephew, I left in the trunk for hours, so it melted. Womp Womp
Parking was pretty easy on Sunday and Weekdays but I have not been there weeknights and I hear this parking can be difficult here. This Van’s is located in a fairly sized strip mall next to a French Vietnamese bakery and near several shops. Not far from the Fortune Mall or the 22 Freeway.
On my last visit, I was looking for Angry Bird items, nothing here, but, its all good.
Next visit, I will be trying out some international coffee.

I didn’t like this place. As soon as you step in the place a very strong odor will slap you in your face. Employees are too serious no friendly welcoming. I asked couple of questions, because I am not to familiar with Asian delicatessen, and the staff were not interested to answer them. The prices are quite of extreme $ 45 for a small cake. I don’t mind to pay for a very good cake, but the cake was very small. I bought two chocolate mousse, flan, and coconut cake honestly the flavors were no that great, I had it better and for a cheaper price. I also got couple of macaroons for $ 1.50 each, nutella and red velvet was good, pistachio had a strong sour taste no like it. They have a lot of Asian products, food, and desserts that I am not familiar with. However, people who have tried this type of food will enjoy it.

This review is for their fruit tart cakes only.
I’m pretty sure its made fresh every day, not too sure about the other cakes. Their fruit tart cakes sell out pretty quickly so make sure you go early in the day. I bought one for my dad’s birthday and came around 4 PM, they only had one 10″ fruit tart cake left. I think it was $ 30 or $ 32.
The cake itself is super flaky and not overly sweet. Can’t wait to order another one for mother’s day! :D

This popular Vietnamese bakery is always bustling with customers. During their busier times, you can observe the clerks briskly moving about fixing one of their tasty, creamy smoothies, taking down orders for one of their delicious made-​to-​order birthday cakes or fruit tarts (also a popular birthday cake) or wrapping up their fresh baked pastries. Despite the occasional line forming, these ladies manage to be pretty efficient helping a customer and sending them on their way so they can help the next.
The bakery has more than just their popular fruit tarts or Vietnamese style birthday cakes (made with whipped cream instead of sugary frosting). The bakery is stocked with fresh pastries and snacks on one side of the store, another side of the store has dry snacks by the pound (although you can definitely buy less). It’s self-​serve so you can sort of pick out how much of each you’d like. Everything from nuts to chips to jerky can be found here.
The rear area of the store has boxed cookies and treats imported from Europe — everything from crêpe cookies to wafer type cookies.
The prices are fair and unlike most Vietnamese stores, this bakery does take credit card (I believe the minimum is $ 20).
There is a lotto ticket vending machine by the door for those feeling lucky.
Parking can be a hit or miss depending what day and time you go. If you go during the weekend, expect to circle a few times to find parking since this bakery shares the private lot with like 10 other businesses.

I can’t honestly give a full review because I have not tried many things here the only thing I ever tried is the sugar cane juice I come in quite often about once a week and get one or two large cups to go but I must honestly say their customer service is great they’re always very helpful and very fast if you want a good spot for some juice you’ll be in and out within 10 minutes
The only downside is that the shopping center is somewhat small as in the parking lot size very congested lot of traffic cars in n out sometimes it’s hard to find parking

Van’s Bakery has been around forever! It has been the go-​to place for birthday cakes over the decades. I’m sure any local will say they know of Van’s Bakery. Their cakes are good, especially the fruity cake (not sure what it’s called). This is also a good place to stop for some good old Vietnamese ice coffee.

Most affordable wedding cake price out there if you are on a budget.
They did a great job decorating and we brought fresh flowers the day before for them to decorate the cake.
Not a huge selection of flavors (filling is mocha, strawberry, pandan, lemon). We picked mocha and our cake turned out moist.
Also, this specific Brookhurst location is for some reason more affordable from the Vans in other locations. Go here!

@Olivia We paid $ 250 for a 3 tier cake that fed at least 150 people. We later returned the plastic tiers and got $ 50 back! So $ 200 total. The cake was moist and the raspberry filling was good. Great deal and I’d use them again.
Note: If you get black like I did, it will be on your lips and teeth.

I’m making this review on behalf of my family. We ordered a half-​sheet fruit tart cake after they told us it would be enough to feed twenty people. Lo and behold when we get there we find it was a thin, one-​layer of stale pastry that did not even fill the cardboard it sat on.
We basically paid $ 55 for a fruit on a sheet of pastry. Do yourself a favor and grab a less expensive (but way tastier and with multiple layers) at Cornerview bakery on Bolsa. Cornerview has chef Uyen Thy’s blessing, rather than this chain where they will likely rip you off. We only went here because Cornerview closed early for Christmas Eve.
When we asked how we were supposed to feed 20 people, they told us to cut it into smaller pieces (!). Oy vey.

Today I was yawning after lunch due to either too much walking at costco or I’m just not awake yet. Since I was in the area with my mom grocery shopping I thought I tried out van’s Vietnamese coffee.
Coffee here was ok, it was too sweet and super bitter for some reason with either too much condensed milk or sugar. I have drink bitter Vietnamese coffee before and I had no problem. But this one was not that good.
It cost $ 2.50 and I barely drink any of it. I still have 75% of the coffee left after I got home. So yea there goes my $ 2.50 of coffee.

This place holds a lot of history in my heart. I’ve been going here for as long as I could remember. My parents would take me here and I would get my bbq pork bun and the custard buns. Heated up on the spot. I was forever in love. I’m sure there are better places for the buns but it’s still amazing to me. I’m just familiar with the taste. They are always the go to places for the fruit cakes for parties.
Recommendation: BBq pork bun, sweet custard bun, fruit tart cakes

This particular Van’s Bakery has been around for years — which means, they’re doing something right!
I like Vans for my daily Vietnamese bakery or appetizer cravings. For savory, I like their «banh bao», «pâté so» & «egg rolls» because they’re reasonably priced and pretty good! They have a selection of single serve desserts, but I haven’t tried any of them except for the cream puffs — which is a must try! I’ve also ordered many birthday cakes here before and all of them are just as good. (Flan Cake, Coconut Cake, & various fruit cakes). I guess you really can’t go wrong with any one you chose.
For all the people who complains about customer service. It’s a Vietnamese/​Asian bakery. You should all know that customer service at these locations are about the same as any other Vietnamese/​Asian places.
TIP: If ordering a cake, make sure you order ahead of time because their daily cakes sell out quick!
TIP #2: They don’t give out free candles for Birthday Cakes, so you could buy them ahead of time or buy them there.

Had a Taro Macaron & a slice of Durian Coconut cake. Both were good, in fact I think that this may actually be the best macaron I have ever had. The filling was so rich and moist. I regret I didn’t get every flavor. Now to the Durian cake, it was really moist and the frosting was really tasty. I look forward to going back and trying everything.
