Camp Run-A-Mutt

This is the only place we’ll bring our dog. He absolutely LOVES it here. When we would take him to a different boarding facility, he would cry and they would practically need to drag him in the play area. When our Baxter sees the parking lot, he gets SO excited!!! Love the staff and would recommend to anyone. Also the detailed report cards are a really nice touch :)

This place is atrocious. They have established enough of a client base they are incredibly RUDE and offensive to new clients. It’s a place where a puppy cannot be a puppy and a dog cannot be a dog. They tell you your dog can’t come back without working with THEIR trainer. We will NEVER go back and will NEVER refer anyone to this place. Everywhere else we have taken our pup she has gotten rave reviews and has zero problems with people OR dogs. This place should go out of business. It makes the industry look bad.

I went in to get my dog Wyatt in for a temperment test, and everyone was overwhelming friendly and positive! The facilities are beautiful, and the staff is so generous! I can’t wait to have my Wyatt boy stay there!

This review has been long overdue! I’ve been bringing my dog here since he was a little pup — almost 2 years. I come here occasionally for daycare and it’s my go to place for overnight boarding. I get a happy greeting when we enter and they always remember and greet my dog once they see him. I could go without coming here for a month and they yell his name in excitement to see him back. There’s a nice energy in this environment and you can tell they LOVE dogs. Sometimes I take him to other places and there is a difference in the workplace energy. The people at Camp Run-​A-​Mutt aren’t just doing their job, you can see that they have fun with the dogs. Mine is particularly skittish around strangers, but when we pull in to the lot, he gets pretty excited. At the end of the day he’s nice and tired! Love these guys! It’s also such a nice bonus that they have cute report cards and live cams. I don’t think any other day care in the south bay does this (even up the coast to Santa Monica).

My dog has been going to Camp run a Mutt for 4 years. I have no complaints. I am only giving 4 stars instead of 5 because it can often be crowded (lots of dogs) and there is not enough space for a dog to get a full run on. But, I understand that we are not out in the country and space is limited. The staff is very attentive to the dogs and have always been friendly with me. When my dog arrives he is greeted my all the dogs at camp. He gets overwhelmed, but the staff is always right there in the middle of the pack to pull back any over excited dogs who are causing my dog stress. In fact, the last time my dog was there, about 2 weeks ago, a dog was trying to hump him and he just wouldn’t give up. My dog bared his teeth and there was almost a scuffle. The staff immediately pulled him off my dog and put the other dog in a time out. He radioed into the front desk so they could note it. There are strong procedures in place and the staff is well-​trained. My dog has boarded with them at least 5 times for week long periods. I have never had a problem. My main concern for my dog when I travel is his safety. At CRAM you are guaranteed safety. Due to the crowding, and the fact that my dog does not enjoy going there anymore, I started to look on an App called Dog Vacay for alternative care. What a waste of my time. Btw, my dog does not like going (I think, he hasn’t actually confirmed this) because it is overwhelming for him and he forgets that he is a dog and sometimes he has to just be part of the pack. He is really a gentle soul and would prefer to be with humans relaxing in the living room. He loves the staff and they love him. The fact that he doesn’t want to go has nothing to do with the staff, it’s just his personality. I watch him on the Mutt Cams after I leave and he is completely fine and having fun. Anyway, I wasted a lot of time looking for a home dog sitter. Every one I checked out had something that did not sit well with me. One person separated the dogs from one another and housed them in different rooms of their house. They were afraid they would fight. Uh, ok. Another lady had a problem with marking and would charge me more depending on how many times he marked up her living room. (What?!) Another lady had a large hole in her fence and was confident that the dogs don’t go out through there, not to mention Artesia Blvd., a very busy street, was very close. And the last one I checked out had recently gotten a new roommate. She would be at home with the dogs while the sitter was at work. Yeah, no thank you! I also worried how they would treat my dog. At a private home there are no checks and balances. Anyone could mistreat your dog and you would not know it. At CRAM, you don’t have to worry about your dog escaping, getting yelled at for peeing on someone’s couch or new hard wood floors, or being put in a room all day long! Yes, it’s crowded, yes there is not room for a dog to get a full run on, but they give me peace of mind. I can go on vacation and not worry about my dog. That is what matters to me. Also, I get to look in on him anytime I want. So, sorry, CRAM, that I even looked for alternative care. My dog will be staying put where I know he can pee as much as he wants, he won’t get out and you won’t lock him in a room all day.

I hate to give this review, because I have been a fan of this place for boarding and daycare for a long time. The staff are extremely nice here and it’s nice to see an more outdoorsy type facility where they can enjoy the outdoors and with less chance of catching kennel cough like a lot of closed indoor facilities have issues with. BUT, I have to drop my review down to two stars at this point. Yes, this facility knew they had drainage issues and recently redid their rear yard with new turf. However, they did nothing to remediate the issues they are having in the front yard. My issues is this. Almost every time I pick my dog up from daycare, she is saturated in urine. Not water, but urine. Yellow urine that is clearly distinguished by the odor and color. Not only is this nasty when you pick up your dog and they smell and your car gets urine smell that just won’t go away– it isn’t healthy for a dog to be laying in a urine soaked turf all day. Bacteria and viruses just live in that stuff. And the worst part is that they don’t even attempt to help dry or clean or towel them off upon pick up. It’s isn’t just the paws that are soaked, it’s her fur everywhere because the dogs get tired and they lay in it so their fur just soaks it up. Her belly and arm fur has started to stain now. I have an issue with this place because it can be easily fixed. One, hire a professional turf cleaning company to give it a once over every couple of weeks, to sanitize and freshen it. Two, the staff should be constantly hosing the turf down so the urine isn’t just pooled up on the turf. While it is appreciated that they fixed half the area, they need to do something to fix it all. I know it can be done because my dog has gone to other daycare facilities with astro turf and my dog doesn’t come out nearly as nasty and smelly as she does here. Rinsing the turf — that’s is. And hourly to prevent the urine build up. After a long day of work, one doesn’t look forward to picking up a urine soaked dog, putting them in the car, and then having to bathe them almost nightly to prevent fur staining. I don’t think my gripe here is too nit picky. The facility is great, the staff are attentive, but I can’t take the smell urine issues anymore. Yes, it is nice to have a groomer on site there, but who wants to «pay» for a daily bath just so you don’t have to get your car and house smelly. The idea of daycare should be simple — the dog should come out in «almost» the same condition as you dropped them off. Yes, I understand there will be some dirt, some water from the fountain, they like to wrestle… understandable they will be a little dirty. But urine is different and it is a major problem at this place. Sadly we found another daycare facility and my dog smells the same when I pick her up and as when I dropped her off, I don’t have to worry about laying down towels in my car and washing her nightly now. And yes they have outdoor astro turf just like this place. Sorry, CRAM, I was a big fan for a long time, but this is just getting out of control. I think with the revenue of the boarding and daycare, the issue can be fixed. Very sad because I was a huge fan of this place for the longest time. Maybe you guys should invest in towels and dog wet wipes in your ‘mud room’ so the dogs aren’t drenched in urine at pick up. And they need to keep an eye on the water buckets they use for dog drinking water — on numerous occasions, I have seen dogs peeing in the trays where dogs drink from.

My pup has been coming here for over 4 years. We love this place and I always know my pup is well taken care of. Highly recommend this place.

I’m so disappointed with this place. I cannot believe that no one said hi to me as I entered the front door. Don’t they understand that customer service starts from the moment you say hello. All the ladies behind the front desk terrible service it was as if I wasn’t even there. But anyhow I had to give my dog a bath a much needed bath.
All the ladies at the front desk gave my dog no attention. I left like I was not even there.
I visited other locations and this is the worst parking just to get in is horrible. Customer service I give it a C.
People don’t we want to keep our jobs don’t we want to have our front doors open.
I was going to have my Dog stay over for a couple of nights. But decided to go elsewhere since my dog was not even greeted.
Will not be returning to this location

I don’t bring my dog too often, maybe once a month or so but they always remember his name when I walk in. I boarded him recently and when I went to pick up my pup, they gave me a report card with his new friends and how he liked to play! ADORABLE!
Definitely recommend this place. You can also watch your dog play live on their mutt cams on their website!

out of all the other dog daycare places I’ve taken my dog to, this place is so much better for what you pay. its great that the dogs can play outside all day and not inside a crammed, no air circulation place. I was watching my dog play through the webcam and looked like she was having a good time.

I have two Huskys who just love to visit CRAM. I take them a couple times a month for a full day of play. As soon as we pull up they go nuts with excitement and as soon as we get home they crash into a deep sleep. We also take them to CRAM while my hubby and I vacation (at least once a year). It’s comforting to watch my boys on the video feed when I’m hundreds of miles away. This is the BEST place in the area for any type of dog care you require. If you need grooming — ask to see Marco (Bubbles owner). They do a fantastic job and are right on-​site — very convenient.

Love my experience, and so did my little sheltie Czar! We even got a report card at the end, Czar passed with flying colors! Really like that they do a temperament test, puts your mind at ease knowing that most of the campers aren’t too crazy. :) Very reasonable for a ½ day visit, would definitely use them again!

This is a great facility for day care. The staff always greets my dog by his name. My pup learned a lot of socialization skills from going to day care. It’s a bit pricey, but worth every penny for me and my pup. The only bad thing is that my dog smells really bad every time I pick him up. He does spend a lot of time in the splash pond. I know the splash pond has chlorine and is cleaned, but i think a lot of dogs do «pee» in it. I do see dogs on the mutt cam raising their legs and peeing on or into the dog houses and dog lounge beds they have set up outside. But this is all normal behavior in dogs…
I just wish my dog wouldn’t smell so bad every time I pick him up from daycare.

I recently moved to the South Bay, and I had an urgent need to take my pup to a day care, so I went to Camp Run-​A-​Mutt, and apparently I had to have an appointment between 10AM and 12AM for a temperament test. Well it was 7:45 and I had to drive 1 hour to get to work. The staff was so nice, they made the exception and took in Vishap for the test, and then she was able to go and play for the day! Thank you so much! you were lifesavers! The day care is like nothing else I have seen! pool, obstacles, toys, and dogs of all sizes in a huge area! I was a bit jealous to tell you the truth.

This was my first experience taking my pup (she’s 9 months old, her name is Sky) to a daycare. They were SO patient with her (she’s a BIT HYPER, maybe more than a bit, lol). I was so nervous because she’s never been around other animals so this was huge. When I got there Julie immediately stepped in and explained to me how everything works. She took me on a tour and she treated Sky as if she were her own dog. This place is pretty big and everyone that works there seems to be happy and of course they LOVE the dogs. It’s clean and HUGE! Sky’s temperament test went better than I thought but I still hung around when they put her on the yard to make sure she was okay. I felt pretty good and the other attendees had good comments so I left her.
I felt as ease leaving and when I came to pick her up, sure enough Julie was still there working and helping people! She really made me feel at home, but everyone made me feel comfortable. Sky was happy to see and I was happy to see her but the feeling of leaving her for the day NEVER felt better! I will be back SOON. Probably tomorrow :)

First off, I would like the idea of the cage free outdoor play yard. My dog did enjoy the water fountain where he and his mates would jump in and splash around and cool off on a warm day. There are attendants, two that day, that walk around to watch the dogs, clean up any fecal, but did see them mop or hose down any urine. I also liked the Muttcam idea, but only two seems to give view of the large dog area.
My dog’s first day, considered temperament testing, my wife was shocked that he was being humped and the staff did nothing about it. Yes, they say it’s a sign of dominance, but I do NOT allow it at the dog parks or beach. I think the new dog should be watched so this does not happen on the first couple of days there. My dog always had a good report card or comments the three days he spent there.
So, my dog has been asked not to return for ‘Pawing’ (like placing a hand/​arm around your shoulder) other dogs. They said he was NOT aggressive, disruptive, nor did he bite any other dog. So, why not give another chance to see if it was a one-​time thing. I can understand if we were warned about this before, but were not. For my dog to return, he must be seen by a trainer, as they recommended their trainer (funny right?), for the behavior issue. Really? For ‘pawing’? I don’t think my 10 month old dog needs a behavioral trainer at $ 110 a session, without a second chance. He’s still a puppy with a puppy mentality, energy and wants to ‘PLAY’.
Well, I thought this was the place for daycare and boarding. That’s okay, there are plenty of other cage free daycare and boarding facilities around.

Camp Run A Mutt is The Best Doggie Daycare you can Imagine. It is like going to «Disneyland «Everyday! Our Chocolate Lab, Brownie, loves attending here. He is So Happy as we approach the front door of the school. His tail just wagging back & forth. He is Always greeted with a big Smile & Hug from Staff Members. We have also enjoyed attending Holiday Parties/​Celebrations with other families. This is Brownie’s Second Home. He is Very Happy & Relaxed here, while he knows that He is Loved & feels Special. The School is Clean, has Spacious Areas with Dog Friendly Apparatus Outside & a Wonderful Disneyland-​Like Custom Sculptured Beautiful Waterfall. Staff is Caring, Knowledgeable & Extremely Professional. We can’t say enough good things about Camp Run A Mutt! Best place for 4 Legged Family Members. THANK YOU. Brownie & Minnie

I found that the mobile mutt cam doesn’t show all the camera angles. I was able to add the websites mutt cam to my homepage and I could see Koda playing.
So here’s 5 stars Camp-​Run-​A-​Mutt. Awesome place!

We were referred to Camp Runamutt by a gentleman walking his dog on our street in South Redondo. I had always wanted to take our three Bouvier’s there.
We gave it a try for a few daily visits and then we tried an overnight.
It all went very well — the staff is very communicative & they generate a very cute doggie report card about their behavior and they’re always there to answer questions.
Then my husband ended up in the hospital for a week. I never knew when I would be able to pick up the dogs. They were so helpful so kind and caring and very understanding that we didn’t quite know when we would be able to pick up the dogs.
I would recommend Camp Runamutt to anyone who wants to entrust their precious doggies to a day care or overnight. Watching them on the mutt Cam is also lots of fun.

We’ve been taking our pup here for a little over a month now and he couldn’t be happier!
Before you can take your dog here, they first have to pass a temperament test. They will take your dog into a separate area and one by one bring dogs in to play with your pup. They will bring a variety of dogs in; large, small, hyper, etc. We were able to watch on a TV in a different room. Luckily our pup, Pinto, passed with flying colors.
We got a package for 10−½ days for $ 165. A half-​day is six hours or less. One half-​day is $ 25 so we save $ 85 for buying the package.
When you drop off your pup there is a little platform/​viewing area so you can watch them play around. I could stay here for hours watching the dogs play. Lucky for me, they provide cameras so you can watch online. The website even works on my iPhone. After his first stay they gave us a Report Card on how well he was. It’s the cutest thing!
There’s also a Bubbles Pet Spa located in their facility. So they can also get groomed while at day care. I like this instead of a groomers because they are not caged before or after the grooming. We’ve only had his nails clipped ($ 10) and they do a good job.
The staff I’ve interacted with have always been friendly. They are also starting to remember Pinto, even though we only take him once a week.
The best part is our puppy is completely wiped out when we get home =)
