Located off of Gardena Blvd., across the street from a middle school. Probably the best place in the South Bay area to pick up Kimchi. They hand make all of their kimchi and it is consistently delicious(has the grandmother’s touch!) They have several freezers of a variety of kimchi(cabbage, radish, cucumber, and a couple more I can’t get the exact translation of) The small jars run ~$ 8, the larger jars $ 14. You can ask the owner if you prefer the riper batches or those that have been fermented some time ago(depending on your taste and purpose). They also package the jars pretty thoroughly so you wont have to worry about leaks or spills.

I get my kimchee here right before I head back to school up north and their kimchee is always consistent for me. Market kimchee is not always consistent. You can ask them which kimchee was made most recently and which is on the riper end and they’ll point it out. I always get the fresher ones bc they last me two months. But if you’re planning to make kimchi fried rice or jjigae(kimchee stew) riper is the way to go. Nice little place! Update: Their kimchee here doesn’t taste as awesome as they used to because I hear the grandmother who used to make it not longer makes it :(but it is still decent IMO unless you are a kimchee expert… then. ma baad.

Kimchee House does one thing and they do it well, take a guess. I would say it’s the best Kimchi in the city. They have a variety of different products ranging from cabbage to cucumbers. All very tasty and not over powering. The place is located in the residential section of Gardena Bl. in a brightly colored green house almost across the street from the Junior High School. The place is very clean and there is no evidence of there product in the air, which is always a plus. As you may know the smell of Kimchi can be mistaken for an out house but not to worry it;s all good shit.

I thought this place was a front the first time I came in. It’s just a room lined with fridges and a cashier desk. But once I ate the kimchee, I knew this place was legit. I don’t like kimchee, it’s either too vinegary or fermented or garlicky or something. But I had a weird phase of craving kimchee like crazy and I came here. I have to say the kimchee is really good, spades better than the supermarket kind and super fresh. I’ve done everything with this kimchee– making kimchee quesedillas, kimchee jigae, etc and it comes out awesome! The cabbage is fresh and crisp, nice and spicy and garlicky. The smaller jar is about a gallon and sets you back $ 8. Totally worth it. They also have massive party size jugs and they label their kimchee so you know what day they made it and how fermented it is. I don’t think I’ll ever buy supermarket kimchee any more.

Exactly what the name says is exactly what you will get. Being from Hawaii, you grow up eating Kim Chee when you have aunties from Korea. Geez… I remember my aunt digging holes in the ground to bury the Kim Chee to allow it to age. haha. ok but Kim Chee House is great.

No tricky names, no hidden agendas, no advertising ploys, just a place names for what it sells: Kimchee. Housed in the old Debbie’s Kitchen location across the street from Peary Middle School, this place is just a counter and a bunch of coolers behind it. Jars and jars of different types of kimchee is all you see and that’s all they sell. I hope you eat a lot of kimchee because the jars will last you a long time. The smallest jar was too big for just the two of us. I know they sell their stuff at Marukai now in smaller packs so that may be the better option for the occasional eater. Nonetheless, it’s good kimchee. Very good kimchee. Minimal sourness and extra spicy. Don’t go when school is letting out though. Parking is very minimal(2 spots) so street parking is a must. Try it out, if anything, just to take a look inside. It’s nothing like I’ve seem before. Good business.

Went here yesterday, as a suggestion from another Unilocaler and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a brightly colored store on the corner of a neighborhood, opposite a school. the place is filled with huge refrigerators full with different kinds of kimchi, we were greeted by a guy, which we had a conversation about kimchi and what to try cuz we’ve only tried the generic ones in a jar. so he suggested we just start with the napa kimchi and they had 1lb in a plastic container, not bad at all for $ 3. they also had larger one for $ 8 and largest for $ 14. the kimchi tastes really good and much better than the generic ones, we’ll be back here for the fresh kimchi!

I don’t even LIKE kimchi but this place rocks. It’s not a restaurant. It’s a kimchee HOUSE. Literally a house that’s been gutted and so it has a kitchen and then fridges all along the walls. They have every type of kimchi known to mankind. Their kimchee is so good that after buying a BIG jar, I use it for kimchee fried rice and kimchi stew. No spices necessary whatsoever. Very good kimchi. They probably sprinkle some msg or something comparable into it but surprisingly it doesn’t make me sick. I’m actually very sensitive to msg. Anyway, the little old lady asks you what kind of kimchee you want, and how old you want the kimchee to be. Some like theirs *just made* and some want kimchi that’s a day or two old. They have every type. They’ve also expanded and so they sell other side dishes as well. I see tons of church groups stop by and pick up like 10 jars at once. For someone who doesn’t even like kimchi, I really like theirs. For those of you looking for SUPER healthy(no preservatives or anything) kimchi, they sell that as well. It’s like a kimchi superstore. Oh yeah, they have a location in Los Angeles now. 4100 west Pico in Los Angeles They accept cash, checks and credit cards.
