A restaurant by day and a bar by night! Trendy contemporary decoration and furnitures. We walked in there around noon and it was empty. we sat down and order the lunch specials. It took forever to come out of that kitchen… about 20 – 30 mins or more to get our food. Food was ok. It seems like their prime business is with alcohol and not food. Foos wasn’t all that authentic Would probably more to a slimmer chance to give it another chance if it is still open. So is it or not. its ?? lol

I was heading to Subway when I saw the new sign next to Tapioca & Phở. I promptly walked over to the entrance area and stared at the interior for a few seconds. Is this a bar or a restaurant?(Later I find out that it’s Korean caf/bar). I saw a small bar counter with draft beer dispensers that include Sam Adams, Miller Lite and others. There’s a large-screen TV on the wall with Lakers game on(but no one watching it) and several tables with one being occupied by a group of three having quiet conversation and food. The picture of foods on the menu reminded me of Yaki Maki’s. I ordered a Fried Spicy Tuna Roll and a plate of Pork Cutlet. The Roll was pretty good, fresh tasting with clean aftertaste, not too heavy on spicy or salt. I don’t know what fried rolls are supposed to be like but I did wish the stuffing was softer, as is the center spicy tuna was hard like fish cake. The Pork Cutlet(Battered and fried pork) was lean with no noticeable fatty sections. The pork was sliced thin so some sections were overcooked. Overall average for the pork. This is a cozy small place. The service is attentive and polite and the interior looked spanking new as if just opened(But reading the Unilocal review later this place has been here a while? I probably noticed the place that day because they put up food pictures on the window).

One star because it’s not open anymore. I’m not sure if it closed down or what, but last time I went, the doors were shut and furniture a mess. However, when it was open, the selection of draft beer was impressive for a k-bar. Had the pineapple soju the first time I went, and it came in a pineapple … but for the price, it was def. not worth it.

I am on a mission. I am hitting up every Korean bar in my city. no. not to search for an old Korean husband but for a better deal than Café HQ. Seriously. $ 11 is hard to beat. Challenger: Café Rowah — $ 15.99 Happy Hour special. Same deal — daikon, peanuts, cornish hen, and *gasp* two eggs? Hmmm. It doesn’t taste authentic. The daikon was too dry. The chicken was too bland and the beer was in a smaller pitcher. I had a chance to look at the rest of the menu and it was fairly pricey for«bar» food. Even ramen was $ 8. Eek! Back to Café HQ I go.
