We’ve been eating here for years. I like the sushi, especially spicy tuna roll and California roll, but the chicken and beef bowls are also good. The chicken is unique – moist meat with crispy skin. The food is always fresh, and the people who work here are nice. This location is in the Marukai Market, which is worth taking in all by itself for the unusual inventory and super cool building. and it is also in a food court, so a party of people can choose different Asian food options if everyone is not in agreement. Because it’s in a busy food court, seating is limited during busy shopping hours. We usually do takeout.

The cashier named Yoko is very rude and I later found out she’s the manager! I have no idea how she could be one when she has no sense of service mind in her head. Everybody knows this place to cheap and not the best choice for sushi but people who work there don’t have to reflect the stereotype. I will never ever come back.

I’m giving Sushi Boy 4 stars for what it is — fast food sushi. This does not compare to any dedicated sushi bar so take that for what it’s worth. If you’re on the go and want some simple nigiri or a roll, this place is a better alternative than supermarket sushi and it won’t break your wallet.

This sushi place is like the McDonalds of Japanese food. You can’t compare this place to a sushi bar that only opens for dinner. For the price and convenience it’s decent for a quick sushi fix. I really don’t go for all the raw and fancy sushi so this spot suits me well. For the basic California rolls and non raw sushi you really can tell the difference between the pricy restaurant and this place. The customer service here is great. They are always happy and they even remember most of their customers. The parking is huge as it shares its lot with the Marukai. It does get packed but you will always find a parking spot.

I’ve eaten at this Sushi Boy quite a few times, usually for to go orders. It’s a standard sushi selection and quality. I recently had a poor experience with the speed of filling their orders, but their December salmon lovers special gave them some points in my book.

The 3 stars goes for the karage honestly that’s all I come for but service was horrible got no ginger with my rolls and when I asked for some they charged me 35cents and since I like my miso soup a little spicy and they had no tagarashi I asked for some sriracha and again charged me 35cents like I said I just come for the karage

Yes I am Japanese, but not a huge fan of raw fish. First of all, Sushi used to be a special meal served at New Years and each piece had a special good luck meaning. Or so something like that. Now everyone eats it like a dinner and culture be dammed. I ordered the Month special and got some stuff that was a little scary, some kind of fish eggs, and octopus, I never order these, but it was really good. The fish was fresh and tasted great, this is huge for me as I normally will pass on sushi. Kills me with all the Sushi experts making snarky comments, about the sushi, freshness, sauces and they have no clue about what Sushi really is about. For the price just eat it and enjoy it. The food and service was good. She hand made each individual piece, you don’t get that at any fast food chain. I will definitely be back;)

Disgusting. There was nothing fresh about this place. The one sushi chef was slow. I make better rolls than his at home. My spicy tuna tempura roll was a hot mess. It was if it had been previously cooked then refried. You could taste the oil. The wasabi was brownish colored. Never again.

Great Japanese fast food. Love the 3 item combos with chicken teriyaki, California roll, shrimp tempura, salad and miso soup for under $ 10 to go. Or get shushi to go.

Call me crazy but I dig this Sushi Boy location. It is in the Marukai food court and I mainly eat here because all the other spots are cash only. I usually get the deep fried CA or the assorted sushi special. Contrary to what people think, I have never gotten sick from the fish here and I assume all the fish is pre-frozen which may be why. I recall the Sushi Boy on Crenshaw &PCH always smelled weird. This location is way better! and I actually see Asians order from here. I call in orders once or twice a month and all the workers are really nice. Sometimes they looked stressed, or bored, but I always kill them with kindness and smile until they warm up, lol. The lady who made my sushi the last few times made my rolls right and they didn’t fall apart. Look for their monthly specials on rolls and combos. Their 3-item combo is $ 9 and comes with miso soup. It is a lot of food! Here are their Nov specials:

Quick and easy hit the spot. I needed something for the flight. Always try to be prepared. Picked up some curry and crackers at Mitsuwa and a cold Kona canned coffee.

I used to come here all the time when it was under different management. At every sushi boy you go to you get what you pay for. It is what it is but I must say that the quality of food as well as service isn’t the same here! I am all about service and if I can avoid this location I do! I’d rather go down the street to the other sushi boy! At least the manager down the street doesn’t seem to be grouchy or in a bad mood all the time!

Only been here twice so far but I will say this: the spicy tuna bowl is pretty dang good. Think of it like a spicy tuna roll converted into a burrito bowl with some lettuce and topped with stripes of teriyaki sauce and some white sauce(mayo?). If they serve it with a tortilla, then oh my! *hint hint?*

I am okay with it… Decent food for a good price. My friend has gotten me take-out from here several times and I’ve always thought it fine. Sushi-rice is good, fish is fine. Also tried it there(i.e. ate in the food court) and liked it just fine. Staff was nice, too.

Sushi Boy is located in the food court inside Marukai. No shopping carts are allowed here so plan on dining prior to shopping. I ordered the mini bowl, no skin, no sauce. It’s not bad.

I was trying to kill an hour while my car was in the shop and came to eat at this location inside Marukai Market. total waste of $ 13, miso soup had no flavor, my spicy crunch roll was all sloppy, ive had better at other Sushi Boy locations, dissapointed. Shoulda just got a binto

I don’t know why but I can’t give a 5 but can’t give a 3. The food is decent and the workers are friendly. My mom always gets the sushi combo, which I don’t know why she doesn’t get it inside the store. weird but I guess she likes that place. Can’t say much from just taking bites from her combo but I myself would rather go next door to kau kau korner.

This food deserves 3 stars. The food is meh. I don’t know why, but whenever I got to a eatery attached to a market, it’s mediocre. The thing that lost a star was that the girl working the cash register sneezed. Well, actually, she turned around and sneezed right on the food prep table behind her. Eww. at least cover your mouth, please. I don’t think I’ll be eating at this sushi boy. I prefer the one next to office depot.
