River & Mountain Midwives provides comprehensive maternity care, home or hospital birth and lactation services in the Mid-​Hudson Valley. This includes antenatal testing, home birth, primary women’s healthcare, pregnancy & birth psychosocial support, childbirth preparation classes, newborn care and breastfeeding classes.

Mothers and babies receive care at home and in our offices in New Paltz, Kingston, Poughkeepsie or Pine Bush. During pregnancy, the midwives provide at least one home visit for planned home birth and, after birth, at least three home visits during the first week for both mother and baby. Families return for two more office visits.

Planned hospital birth is offered at HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley in Kingston.

We strive to give each family individualized and respectful care and work hard to have fees reimbursed by most insurance plans.

Business Owner

River & Mountain Midwives was established by Susanrachel Condon and Susan Rannestad in 2004 and serves families across the cultural and socioeconomic spectrum in four counties of the Mid-​Hudson Valley. We have offices in New Paltz, Kingston, Pine Bush and Poughkeepsie and provide home care as needed.

With more than 45 years of combined experience in attending home, birth center and hospital births we bring the best of ancient wisdom and modern science to your door.

River & Mountain Midwives’ team includes licensed midwives, birth assistants, labor & delivery nurses, educators, students, lactation consultants and doulas. We offer comprehensive maternity and neonatal services and have well-​established collaborative relationships with obstetric, neonatal and pediatric medical providers.
