Real Deal Van Lines

On February 4, 2016 drug addicted employees from Real Deal Van Lines moved me from Lynn to Foxboro, Ma. The move took five hours. The men were layabouts and marauders, thieves who purloined my expensive designer dress shirts, an azure vest, a chair, electronics and skull crusher computer head phones. Before the move, Owen who charged me $ 119 that he said he would apply to the move told me he would charge me $ 119. per hour for 3 men and $ 60. for one half hour for traveling time. The employees refused to give me a receipt and drove away with a large bin filled with expensive shirts, writing and electronics, furniture, etc. Real Deal Van Lines stole thousands of dollars of my property and One hundred and nineteen dollars that I paid as a deposit which they did not apply to the move which they refused to return to me. DO NOT hire Real Deal van Lines, i.e., Real Steal Van Lines because they are arch drug addicted thieves who will disrespect you and rob you blind!

I’ll have to say that this has been a disappointing experience in dealing with Real Deal Van Lines.
Like most human beings, moving is not one of my favorite things. I moved from Boston, MA to Jersey City, NJ and after receiving quite a few quotes, I go with Real Deal since they provided me with the most competitive quote.
On the move date, they arrive on time and the guys are pretty quick with placing my items in the van. My plan was to go have them pick up my items and then I’d pick up my rental and drive behind them. Long story short, I ended up having some issues with my rental and that put me behind these guys on my trip down to Jersey considerably. The movers were patient with me as I was gunning it down the highway to get to them as quickly as possible. So yes, I was a couple of hours late.
Of course, they were ready to go by the time I got there, so they quickly unloaded while I was meeting with the leasing agent to sign my lease. I paid them (and over the estimate since they had to wait so long) and they went on their way.
Over the next couple of days, I notice that the glass table top to my computer desk is missing. I look all over my new apartment and it’s nowhere to be found. It’s not at my old apartment as I did a final walk through of the apartment and they don’t report any left behind items. Cue Real Deal. I email them a couple of times and they take a few days to get back as she says that she is trying to get in touch with the guys on what may have happened. She finally writes back and says that they remark they did wrap it up to load into the van, but they don’t recall unloading it. She writes that the only thing she can think is that it’s still in Boston and technically it’s my responsibility to make sure everything gets from point A to point B.
I did ask them if I can be reimbursed in some way (even a little – that helps) for the table top since there is absolutely no accounting for this table top and my table is no longer of use. And there have been crickets ever since I’ve asked, so I know I’m cutting my losses there. I know I was very diligent about checking my old apartment before I left and I would have noted a table top being left behind. I feel like as a paying customer, a company is willing to meet you halfway.
Other reviews I’m reading here seem to have similar issues, so I wish I’d read them BEFORE leaving a deposit with them. That’s a lesson learned.

I scheduled a move with them at 5:00 pm and I paid a $ 100 deposited via my credit card. The next day I called at 9:00 am to cancel the move. I was told real deal doesn’t refund deposits. I explained that I understood that if they missed opportunity to book that date it would be fair but I only had the booking for an hour.
They refused and kept the deposit. I wish I had read the reviews on this site before scheduling the move but in hindsight I only lost $ 100 it could have been much worse.

I was very pleased with my move using Real Deal this past Saturday. When I spoke to the team to set up the move, I mentioned that it was mostly going to be large furniture, but there were some boxes and random things as well. I think I underestimated how many of those odds and ends were left for the movers, but they didn’t bat an eyelash, they just got to work filling their truck! They did such a fantastic job, but more than that, they were courteous, called me by my name when asking me a question (sometimes, it’s the little things, and I thought that being called my name versus «miss, or ma’am» just made it feel a little more personal), and knew what they were doing.
It’s not easy to find a reliable *and* affordable moving company, but in my experience, these guys fit the bill. Would absolutely use again, and recommend to anyone who asked!

I chose this company because they were convenient to Leominster, were available when I needed them, they offered a fair hourly rate and had good communication.
My husband was there while they packed up our belongings where we were moving from. They arrived 20 minutes early, which wasn’t good for my husband but way better than being late.
I was at the receiving end. Two men arrived to unpack the truck. I knew they had to have worked hard filling the truck so I offered them coffees or cold drinks which they refused. They worked hard and for the most part appeared to know what they were doing. They were able to fit alot of boxes into limited space in the garage by stacking things efficiently.
The thing that bothered me was one of the guys, who I later learned was the senior man, was complaining to the other employee about how «this was supposed to be easy». He made another comment directly to me about how «people» would mis-​state their inventory list in order to get a lower quote. I wasn’t sure what to think or what to say. It sounded like he was accusing me of being underhanded when in fact I had been 100% truthful with thier office staff, and since they charge by the hour there is no way pay less than for the actual work they do. I didn’t want a confrontation so I just let it slide. His comments and attitude stressed me out.
In a service business, their job is to get the work done while making the customer feel at ease. They failed at that.
About 90% of our stuff was going into the garage, so the job was relatively easy. However, we have two twin size adjustable beds that are heavy and awqward to move. I had informed the company in advance about this and that the stair case has a chair lift on it and therefore moving the beds would be a real chore. Again the mover was whining about the weight of the beds and the tight space. I instructed him to slide the bed on its side up the 7 stairs and to right it at the top of the landing before turning the corner to go down the hall. They didn’t listen and ended up puting a gash in the wall on the staircase because they couldn’t control the weight of the bed in an upright position.
Overall, I would say the front end experience was good but the actual moving service was mediocre so I wouldn’t use them again.

I contracted to have Real Deal Van Lines move me from Paxton, Ma to Trumbull Ct. I spoke to a women named
Anna (one of the owners). We agreeded on a price of about $ 1600 for moving and travel. Anna said she would be out
to about a week before the move to see what had to be moved. The move was to take place on Oct 13, 2015 .
I had to call to change the date to Oct 22, 2015 because the new wall to wall carpet was being installed on
Oct 12, 2015. Grant, an employee of Real Deal did agree that the change was fine.
The movers showed up on time and began to move my belongings, personal and the contents of my home.
The movers were nice and didn’t waste anytime. They worked hard. Toward the end of packing I went in to check
the house for tools and anything they might have missed. They forgot my refrigerator it wasn’t on the truck. No big deal
they put it on the truck.
I drove to Ct to my new house and met the movers there. They began to bring my things into the house, all was
good at this point. Then things started to happen. As Cory and Jose were moving the old fridge out of the house to put
my fridge in the house I saw that they ripped a hole in my new carpet (the carpet was 10 days old at this point).
Corey said they didn’t do it the tear was already there. I said the only thing in the house was a lamp when you got here
and the carpet wasn’t damaged. My sister and I looked around to find 9 move tears in the carpet.
At this point I’m just going to list all the things Real Deal movers did while moving me from Ma to Ct.
#1 10 tears in my 10 day old carpet
#2 they never screwed the back of my hutch on and it almost fell on me
when I was placing the items on top where they belong .
#3 They took apart a large desk with about 14 screws only put back 4
I can find, desk is loose
#4 They broke a leg of an antique bookcase and told me it was broke off before
they touched it, Jose found the leg in the truck
#5 They bent the leg on my dryer flat up against the bottom of the machine
Corey said there was no leg on the machine when they moved it, another lie.
#6 The arms on leather recliner I paid $ 1000 for 18 months earlier were worn
down from dark brown stain to raw leather (no stain) right where your hands
rest
#7 They left two work benches in the garage that are way to heavy for me to move
Anna told me no problem they will take them apart. Benches still in the garage.
#8 They broke the arm or rod that holds an upright drill. This can never be fixed.
#9 Cory took a Tazer Gun (like the police use) and tazed he’s co worker Ed with it.
Ed could have been seriously hurt or even killed. Ed didn’t like it as you can well
imagine .
#10 They damaged the new paint on the walls and trim. This was to be expected to
some degree.

The move cost went from $ 1600 to over $ 2400. It was to be expected to go up a little.
I called Anna less than 12 hours after the move and told her about all these things. Anna
said they would take care of fixing the carpet. Now that the check cleared Anna has been giving
me the run around and I can’t seem to get anywhere with Real Deal Van Lines.
Notice they don’t have any reviews on there web site I wonder why .
I’ve called them about the carpet 3 or 4 time but they say Cory’s pictures show the carpet isn’t
to bad just cut the bad pieces out .
Would I use them again never

My husband and I have used Real Deal Van Lines three times in the past two years– all three were moves across states, two of which were substantial. They exceeded our expectations each time. Jessica was kind and personable on the phone. The movers arrived on time and were careful with our belongings, were efficient without being sloppy, and everything arrived on schedule to its destination. We would use them again without question.

Unfortunately, I can’t recommend Real Deal Van Lines. Anna, the owner, underestimated the truck size we’d need, moving from a small home to a large one. As a result, a second truck was needed for the following day. This was especially stressful, as we were closing on our home & the movers arrived 30 minutes after the closing began. Furthermore, some items were damaged, as the movers inconsistently wrapped items carefully. Anna did send someone to repair a scratch on our patio table, as well as a credit for $ 99 to repair the cover of our china cabinet. Just today, I noticed broken wood on one of the piano legs. When the movers were handling it, they initially tried to move it up a narrow flight of stairs in the old house, rather than taking it outside through an exterior door on the same level. Overall, we spent about twice as much as anticipated. The extra moving day was a steep cost.

The worst moving experience in my life. ½ my stuff was tossed into the basement, after multiple calls prior to the move explaining the potential need for a hoist to get a large piece of furniture they where unprepared. The pricing /​contract was highly misleading, poor customer service by owner upon my phone call for a proposed resolution. I would stay as far away as possible.

I reserved them a week in advance giving them the entire logistics and the inventory count. They estimated the move to be about 5 hours for a 2 Bed room apartment and moving to 20 miles (next town). A week before moving, I called them and updated the inventory count mentioning that I have more boxes and some loose items like kids toys as well. We jumped the estimates by an hour to estimate the move 6 hours. The guys showed up on move day around 1:30 pm. I live on the first floor and there is about 30 – 40 step walk from the apartment door to the road. These guys took more than 5 hours just to load the truck and even after that, said they could not fit my TV, my bike, 4 – 5 boxes, kids toys, etc. The guys spent a lot of time wrapping each chair in blanket. I clocked the time and each dining chair they spent more than 3 mins. they did not even bring power tools to dismantle the bed and we spent 45 mins just unscrewing the bed. Then they spent another 4 hours on unloading. Total bill for move ~ $ 1150 and last box left around 10:45PM
I called the operations director next day and told him about left inventory. He was bold enough to say that when you called 2 weeks back you mentioned some inventory and we blocked a smaller truck based on that. When I confronted him saying that I then called you guys to update the inventory list, and if you did not have a bigger truck you should have said so. But he stuck to his notes of first time you said that and Bla, Bla. I asked him to send his guys over to bring my TV, Bike etc or give me money back for the time they would spent on it. He gave back and hour worth of money.
I have moved 2 BED earlier and it has never taken more than 5 – 6 hours. One thing though was that nothign was damaged in the entire process. All pieces arrived in excellent condition. But the guys were highly unprofessional in managing time and planning. They spent 5 hrs on loading because they took out all stuff from truck to re organize again. I would think that when you are in moving business you have a pretty good idea on how things should be stacked up.
Never again with this agency.

2 Movers come in on time, but took 8hrs to move basically at snail pace and charges me $ 928 instead. I paid them in full without any fuss. Then I notice my new Samsung LED TV had a big crack on it. I call real deal and send them the pics. They had the audacity to tell me that it wasn’t them who did the damage and It happened after the move. I felt really mad about the fact that they were indirectly calling me a liar, while i am actually the person who paid for everything and ended up with a broken tv.
I HIGHLY recommend NOT to chose Real Deal, as they basically cheat you. They delay on purpose so they can charge you double and they will not take responsibility of any broken items. Above all — they will blame it all on you! They are definitely not professional and have the worst customer service. The guy I was talking to hangs up on me in the middle of the call and doesn’t even call back.
I have moved a couple of times before and have had no issues. In all, it was a horrible experience which left a really bad impression of the company.

While we didn’t end up moving in the end, we did consider Real Deal when it was a possibility. Anna’s customer service made me feel listened to and important. She was patient, thorough, and understanding of the stresses that go into a move. Definitely worth considering for your move, one less thing to stress about!

You know, I have to say I’m really disappointed and confused by all the other negative reviews on here. I used Real Deal to move everything from my apartment to NYC… That’s across multiple STATES, and then into a walkup with a really tiny stairway, and I didn’t have a single problem. The pricing was fair, my furniture was wrapped, and my stuff was safe the whole way.
The fact is, moving is a pain in the butt, and it’s NEVER going to be painless. (And, frankly, it’s always going to be more than you anticipated). But the service I got from Real Deal was as close to perfect as I’ve ever experienced, and if I still lived in MA, I would absolutely plan to use them again for my next move.

After receiving a threatening phone call from the owner of this company, I have decided to remove my long review. I am changing it to one word: Beware!
Also, please note that in his comment below, the owner admits that he threatened me. He also publicly calls me a liar, even though he knows I have photos to back up my claims. He just showed you his true colors. Enough said.

This moving company met or surpassed our every expectation — professional, friendly and affordable. We would definitely recommend the Real Deal Van Lines, of Gardner, MA. to our family and friends for any up and coming move.
Our daughter got married last July and the newly weds decided to buy their first home located just over the New Hampshire boarder, a fifty minute drive from our home. Well, she needed to move her stuff to the new home and of course, her favorite bedroom set was part of the move. It was originally owned by her grandparents many years ago. What to do? It certainly wouldn’t fit in our Prius so after doing some research we came upon the answer to our prayers — The Real Deal Van Lines — and are we ever glad we did. Owner, Anna Hanley took very good care of us and our very special bedroom set right from the get go. She was like family and took the worry and frustration out of this challenging task.
Ian and Ed, the movers arrived right on time and went right to work. Their equipment was more than adequate and they were very polite and professional as well. Everything was carefully wrapped and gently carried down all of the stairs and into the more than adequate van. We were amaze at the care and consideration that was given to the task. Frankly, we were all very impressed.
The same could be said for the work done at our daughter’s «new» home. There the crew was greeted with the task of carrying the furniture up, up and away to many sets of stairs with an equal number of twists and turns. No problem for this crew of friendly and experienced workers. In no time at all, everything was delivered and set up to my daughter’s satisfaction and the final cost even turned out to be less than we had expected. What more could we, the parents have asked for? Thank you Anna, Ian and Ed for a job well done and for making this move into a happy memory!
Should we ever be faced with another moving day experience we will definitely go for the Real Deal again — the Real Deal Van Lines that is. Good luck to all!

I am thrilled with my experience with RDVL. They were the best team of movers I’ve had to date. I was very nervous about my move since I had a few days to plan it but the company ensure me everything would be fine. The team I had was super quick and efficient, wrapped everything to ensure no damage would occur. I moved from one part of the city to another and the total move time, including travel time, took three hours. I was thrilled with how quickly and smoothly it happened. I would definitely recommend them to anyone in need of movers.

This is a fairly new company. They have a few kinks to work out, but they are honest and working very hard at it. We were moving from one side of Westminster to the other. My wife has collected alot of furniture and knick knacks over the years, so even though it was just two of us, it was a fairly large job involving 2.5 loads in a mid-​sized truck with a 3 man crew that was reinforced late in the afternoon by the appearance of Ian. They slightly underestimated the size of the job, but just slightly and it didn’t cost us. They reassembled things that needed to be reassembled, everything was intact when we unpacked. Most important, they were up front before we started about how this was all going to go down, what it would cost, and how long it would take. They delivered and we can recommend them without reservation.

Day of Move:
Ian, Ed (or Fred?) the other I forgot his name. Part of what they explain is that it’s the responsibility of the customer to make sure EVERYTHING that needs to go is on the truck. I assumed this means that no furniture is missed but includes EVERY little thing that needs to go. I later found this out the hard way.
My bedside tables have built in night-​lights on the underside of them and a couple of electrical outlets in the top drawer that they coiled them up neatly to move. At this time nothing wrong with the bedside table. They took it out to the truck (not yet wrapped in a moving blanket) and a moment later I was being called out to the truck. The mover who had brought it out said he wanted to point out «pre-​existing» damage that he did not see until he put it on the truck. The back of the nightstand that has a heavy cardboard backing was broken. I was getting upset at this point and they were trying to pass it off as «pre-​existing damage». After that incident they checked everything and wrapped it prior to leaving the apartment. They brought in a few of their own tools in to disassemble some of the furniture that needed to be in order to move. They asked me if they got everything and all the furniture that needed to be moved was in the truck so I said it looks like everything that has to be moved is out.
When placing the furniture in the house they asked if I had the bag of hardware. I said I did not, that they are the ones that had it the whole time and I assumed they would have put it on the truck. They told me that they clearly explained that everything that needed to be moved was my responsibility and not theirs. I told them that it would be an hour round trip to go get it and bring it back. They then told me if they have to wait the «flat rate job» would increase in price. I said no, so furniture was not put back together. Before I knew it they were in their truck and ready to leave. I looked around and checked to see where the shelf for my TV console was and did not see it. I ran out to the truck before they had pulled out and asked them where it was. Ian said the truck was fully unloaded and I told them the shelf is not with the TV console. The driver then got out, opened the back and grabbed the shelf from the side of the truck on the inside.
When I went back for the hardware that was left behind I noticed that they had also left a couple of their tools behind too.
I had many more issues but this is limited to 500 words.

Very professional, answered all phone calls and e-​mails in a timely manner. 1 case within minutes of sending the e-​mail. Price was great, did call a few others before I spoke with them and was happy.
