I have dined here a few times and I am always impressed. Last week my husband had the NY steak and I had the chicken marsala. Both were incredible. The mashed potatoes were outstanding and the fresh veggies are always a plus. The chocolate lava cake dessert was delicious. Julio always comes around to the tables to say hello, and Leo (our waiter) is always the best. Love this place, can’t wait to go back.

My boyfriend and I stopped in after hearing about this place after a long day outdoors. All across the board everything was amazing and perfectly cooked!
My boyfriend ordered the lobster tail and prime rib special for $ 29 and I ordered the New York strip for around $ 22. We each got the tomato bisque out first. The soup was amazing, vegetables that came out with the entrée were perfectly cooked, as well as the au gratin potatoes. Both our steaks were evenly cooked and cooked exactly how we ordered them. We also ordered lava cake for dessert, which is an absolute MUST. Much better than most very high end restaurants that charge 3xs the price.
My only complaint about this restaurant is the menu is very small and is all steak and fish with one chicken Marsala dish… But I guess it leaves each of those items to be perfect every time they come out.
We will definitely be back to this cute little place and highly highly recommend. My boyfriend is still raving about his food. Service was great, too.

Whether it is date night, a company Christmas party or a casual lunch with a friend, Julio always makes us feel special in his environment. The food is always prepared beautifully with gourmet style and presentation. Hats off to Julio and his family for providing what I think is the best restaurant in the Gardnerville –Minden area. A high-​class experience for an affordable price. It is always a treat anytime I dine at Julio’s.i

This place is a great addition to the Carson Valley. We went for lunch on a Saturday and really enjoyed the relaxed feel. Food was good and there were several other items on the menu I would like to come back and try. Service was a tad on the slow side but we were the first group in for lunch and the place was empty when we arrived. The kitchen may have still been getting set up for the lunch crowd which soon followed. It seemed like everyone after us got their food pretty fast.
The lunch and breakfast menus overlap from 11:00AM till 2:00PM. I got the California Burger which was great. A couple of people in our group got different versions of Eggs Benedict. All we’re satisfied. The prices are extremely affordable for lunch and breakfast. $ 10 for a nice burger and side is a deal! They even made my 3 year old a single pancake and only charged the side price of $ 1.50. You can’t beat that!

Fantastic service, outstanding food. Get over the location (like we did) and enjoy a phenomenal meal. The dinner package was excellent quality and plenty of food for two for the price, and we loved the Zin to go with it. It made the fact that La Ferme in Genoa closed a lot more bearable.

I came here to Julio’s the other night as a friend of mine who lives in Gardnerville, told me about it and said it was really good and pretty new. I’d never heard of this place despite spending time in the Carson City area. Looking on line at the menu, the Dinner for 2 package seemed like a killer deal at $ 72 for a split appetizer, soup or salad, any entrée on the menu, a split dessert and get this, a WHOLE bottle of wine! Not the cheap wine either, but J. Lohr brand listed on the wine list for $ 26.00. That sealed the deal, we had to come for this!
Arriving, the interior is simple modern with romantic lighting. We’re greeted by a friendly server and informed him of our choice of the Dinner Package… so bring out the bottle of wine! The Cab was our choice. Looking over the appetizers, I see CRAB CAKES! ($ 11.95) Well, that settles that! My BF and I both go for the Caesar Salads. My entrees was the rack of lamb ($ 24.95) and my BF had the Filet Mignon ($ 24.95). Without the package deal, all entrees still come with soup or salad.
It’s very pleasant in here while we wait sipping wine. The Crab Cakes are up in no time it seems. Wow, that’s a beautiful presentation! The crabs pose for pics. My first bite is wonderful, so moist and a nice crab flavor coming through without too much filler. Quite exquisite, this version. There was a nice little break between courses.
Next was our salads. The Caesars had fresh Parmesan Cheese and cracked pepper and a house made dressing that was perfectly balanced and a good strong garlic essence. The salads were first rate.
While on my second glass of wine, our entrees arrive. Holy cow! or lamb should I say! My rack is all standing up on end in a most lovely presentation, displaying the perfectly cook as ordered lamb meat. The rack was carved into 4 double boned chops and drizzled with a most tasteful sauce reduction. See pics! Accompanying the Lamb were sauteed asparagus and potatoes au gratin. The potatoes were perfect, without an overly cheesy taste as some versions are and perfectly cooked asparagus. The lamb was off the charts good, my feet were doing the happy dance under the table! If you like lamb, this is a must get!
My BF’s entrée of the Filet Mignon was served with the same sides as mine. The 8 oz. filet was cooked perfect, a nice even color edge to edge with a good searing on the outside, perfect medium grilled. Tender and beefy, this was a top class filet Mignon. This was one of the nicest dining experiences I’ve had in awhile!
Dessert was still to come and we had the choice of Lava Cake or a house special of Flan Cheesecake. We went with the Flan Cheesecake to share ($ 5.50). It’s really more of a cheesecake than a flan. So think upside down round little flan made of cheesecake with a caramel, flan drizzle. See the pic. The bottle of wine went perfect with this first class meal!
We were both very pleased with this new restaurant in an unassuming strip mall behind the ARCO gas station located at Waterloo Ln and US 395. I’m definitely making plans to come back soon! If you love classic American Cuisine, steaks, and seafood and pasta, come try out Julio’s in Gardnerville!

I’m writing this review after having had dinner here 3 times, and lunch once. The service is impeccable, and so is the food. During our last visit we had the blackened shrimp appetizer. It was soooo good we ordered two more! For dinner it was sea bass grilled just right with a side of steamed asparagus and a mushroom risotto. The ambience is classic. Just be sure to make reservations… I have a feeling that as the word spreads there will be a wait if you don’t!

I’ve only ordered takeout, but when I went in to pick up, the atmosphere was clean and classy, but not stuffy just pleasant. They also had a small bar section with a TV (on mute) showing soccer highlights which I appreciated.
I think Julio’s strikes a great balance between, quality and simplicity. I had the scampi prawns (over pasta) with a green salad and brussel sprouts with bacon. The flavors were well balanced and it had quality ingredients, but it wasn’t overly expensive. For me, that’s the sweet spot. If anything, it was a little too rich, but it is a steakhouse, so I was kind of expecting that.

Had a wonderful birthday dinner here with friends. I had the Sea Bass and it was perfection. We all shared the crab cake appetizer and it was delicious. Very crispy on the outside and heaven on the inside. A perfect contrast of textures and taste. They brought out a small flan cheesecake for our friend for her birthday that was scrumptious. All in all a great experience. A local place that appreciates it’s local clientele. The only downfall is they need more room. Good atmosphere but they are busy enough to expand. Small side note; when I called to make reservations Julio answered the phone and was very courteous. In closing the call I thanked him and he said «my gracious thanks to you» with total sincerity. Enough said!

Julio’s is a new fine dining restaurant in Gardnerville, Nevada. We had the wonderful pleasure of dining there Saturday night, Valentine eve. First of all it is a very small room so reservations are advised. Saturday night they were booked solid. We enjoyed the Dinner Package which includes an appetizer to split, soup or salad for each and an entrée for each, chosen from the menu, followed by a desert to split. Oh yes a bottle of wine in included. We shared calamari for our appetizer followed by salad for each, I had the house dressing and my husband chose the ranch, his favorite. For our entrée he had the Rib Eye Steak with garlic mashed potatoes and I had the Rack of Lamb with the rice pilaf. The Rib Eye steak was cooked to perfection and tasted fantastic. As for the Rack of Lamb, well what can I say because I am still drooling about the fantastic taste of the Lamb. You get 3 double chops French style and I can’t say enough about the way they were cooked to perfection, a perfect medium rare. Julio is always trying new tastes so tonight he brought a slice of avocado lightly deep fried in a very slightly dipped tempura batter served with a dipping sauce that was wonderful. A little bit sweet a little bit citrus with a hint of heat, oh so good. The avocado had a small crunch to it with the tempura batter but you could hardly see the batter as it was dipped so slightly. I do hope that becomes an appetizer on his menu. As for our desert we had the Flan/​cheese cake that was so delicious and just added the perfect finish to our dinner. They have a good selection of wines that went with our dinner and was included in the Dinner Package. Julio brought us a taste of 2 selected wines to taste. You can order the package or off the menu as you choose. Everything from the time you walked in the door and are greeted by Julio who seats you at your table until the last moment when you leave the experience is warm, friendly, with wonderful service. I can’t wait to return and probably will this week.

The salmon was the best I have ever had, perfectly seared. Great value when you order the dinner package.

Absolutely wonderful! Had the rack of lamb, daughter had the filet… one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Nice to see Gardnerville have a nice restaurant! Julio and his family are bringing good food back!

Finally a good dinner restaurant opens in the Carson Valley. We had a wonderful dinner and the service was great. We both had the sea bass on the two for $ 72.00 dinner special. The sea bass was fantastic, served over risotto. With the dinner you get fresh bread with butter and dipping olive oil and vinegar. then soup or salad, followed by the entrée, then a desert. Also included is a bottle of wine. The place is small so it is a good idea to get reservations there were people turned away the night we were there, will definitely be back

This is our third visit and it gets better every time. Julio is very personable and wants every customer to leave satisfied. Great fine dining at affordable prices. Check them out.

Excellent food ! Not cheap, but not over priced either. Fantastic steak and lamb. Julio and the staff are great too. It’s a small restaurant, so if you go on a weekend, make a reservation. We will be repeat customers.

Stopped by for lunch. First visit. I had the pastrami sandwich special with garlic fries. Pastrami tender and flavorful sandwich & fries excellent. Friendly atmosphere. Menu selections rather limited.

My husband and I came here Tuesday night for the first time. We just moved here from California. And Julios is better than a lot of California restaurants the food was delicious the service was fantastic. We felt so welcome here. Julio made us so welcome here. I will eat calamari for the very first time and loved it planning on coming back with friends thank you Julio.

Everyone thinks this is a Mexican-​style restaurant. It isn’t. It’s kinda like a yummy steakhouse. My boyfriend got Rack of Lamb. I got blackened tuna. Both very tasty. Atmosphere is a little off, it’s a tiny location, & I could tell they were still working out the kinks, but it was still a very pleasant experience. I hope they will expand their menu & move to a larger location. I look forward to going back.
